- Hey everyone! Welcome back to my training diary!
This is where I share the highs, lows, and everything in between as Pablo, Pumba, Echo, and I work toward tackling bigger tracks.
In today's session, Pablo and I dive into some flatwork cavaletti gymnastics. The focus: Honing our rideability with cavaletti and poles to master square turns, straightness, and maintaining the canter rhythm-and everything in between!
This exercise is a brilliant way to test where your horse’s canter is at-especially in turns-while keeping rhythm, striding, and straightness over the cavaletti.
The great thing about this exercise is that you can use it both as flatwork and jumping exercise by replacing the cavaletti and building it bigger jumps.
Big shoutout to Megan Elphick @elphick.event.ponies for the inspo on this exercise, which she showcased in her vlog. The original idea comes from the incredible Lainey Ashker and Olympic eventer Julia Krajewski-definitely worth checking out their versions for some pro-level tips! 👏✨
