Wow, this is like the plot of Inception. House is trying to plant an idea into the patient's partner's head, but he wants her to think it is her own idea, thus making it more convincing.
Yes, it's a great example of the character's psychopathic tendencies.
Its her own idea. House didnt made her commit to anything.
@@akifcelik3074 And that's exactly how inception works
@@akifcelik3074 Great way to rationalize manipulation.
This is one of the laws of power. You can manipulate people very easily, especially co workers and bosses if you use this technique. People love thinking they came up with a great idea.

I get the feeling that sometimes House hates being right.
When you're like this in something - see patterns so clearly, understand rules so well, you're right most of the time. And this means you see things others don't see and don't consider. It shows you a different world. You are right about something and at the same time you know what that means - you're right again. It's true there is nothing pleasant. Sure, it feeds your ego first couple of years, but then you know you're right, you get normal. And then "being right" stops being important - that's when being right about awful shit becomes unbereable. /Kudos from someone who understands family systems theory.

@@maribelnatura2189 what
Oh my God, the look in her eyes after house said she was lucky to have such a devoted partner...
"b-b-but im gonna be leaving her soo......ughh this is why i hate men!"
kavioss that is the point, it was her mistake, to be so devoted to other girl!
Yeah.
Well, even before. I think she realized something, or felt something. I bet her sleepiness made her more easily annoyed of her partner, but seeing the love she has for her awakened a bit in her. Idk, but if someone was that ready to give up a part of their liver for me it’d make me feel something, too. I think House knew what he was doing
Yeah, lucky to have an obsessive psycho partner who goes to extremes to guilt trip her literally for the rest of her life.
.
For all we know, her crazy gf has a personality disorder and is making herself out to be a martyr knowingly in more ways than what we see in this episode, and the patient was right to want to leave her.
.
Instead, she was chastized by people who don't even know their situation (House *knows* everyone lies; he should know better than to fall for a surface-show) but do know what it's like to not want to die. And maybe she then went on to spend the rest of her life with an emotionally abusive user partner.
.
The ending clip isn't shown, but most of us are here because we *have* seen the show. It's amazingly ridiculous that more people haven't realized the implications of the gf's little "she can't leave me now" boast. Because imo that's pretty obviously an indicator of longterm extremely disordered thinking and unhealthy behaviour.
This ones intro was brutal. She couldn't fall asleep for days and her partner woke up one night and found her in the bathroom bumping her head up against a red stained wall as a bottle of empty sleeping pills laid next to her. When she asked her why she is doing this the girl said, "I just wanted to sleep."
The feels.
InfiniteSupremacy Yeah banging one’s head against the wall can either be funny or deeply disturbing. That scene went for the latter.
I suffer badly from terrible insomnia, and sleeping pills are a waste of time because my body says "nope! Ain't nobody got time for dat!"
As for not maintaining muscle posture whilst entering sleep, it's entirely possible to do so. I've been there and worn the t-shirt.
The brain is _supposed_ to disconnect from the sensory and motor nervous system during sleep (including REM), but in several sleep disorders it doesn't do it properly, or fails to reconnect properly upon waking up.

One of the things I love about House is while he has sociopathic tendencies like being a master manipulator, he does it when it's necessary (unless he's dealing with Wilson, then it's just for fun XDD). He underhandedly steered her mind towards a liver transplant and made her think it was her idea. He didn't manipulate her for any sort of personal gain, he did it to save his patients life.
House cares about people feelings, but people’s lives matter more. He doesn’t care if he hurts someone’s feelings if it saves someone’s life. He also will risk jail to save patients.
This is not manipulation, its just a different and more meticulous form of persuation. Manipulation requires deception, and he told her nothing but the truth. The fact that he wanted her to donate her part of her liver is simply a desire and doesn't need to be shared with anyone. A 'desire', even if repulsive, can't ever be clasified as a threat, because thoughts do not necessarily manifest themselves into actions. Therefore its part of the person's privacy and can't be a lie by omision. People who say it's "manipulation" or "psycopathic" are too simple minded people who fail at persuation at every point of their lives.
yes, we can see him second guessing whether he did the right thing by the girlfriend by prodding her to donate her liver when he knew the truth that the patient was going to dump her. He decided to do it because of his first instinct which is to do anything possible to solve the puzzle but when he saw that her loving concern for her, he certainly didn't like duping her.
its crazy the amount of mind games and manipulation house uses in this clip

He actually did a pretty kind thing there, convince the girl to donate her liver which is the only chance of the patient surviving, plus ask in such a way that the girl looks good in the patient's eyes, giving her a chance to mend the relationship
"You are lucky you have such a devoted partner"

I love that Cameron says "It's none of my business" and after she tells her the truth she makes it her personal mission to make it her business.
Cameron's the biggest hypocrite on the show. She lectures people about being selfish, but she almost gets patients killed on a regular basis because of her self-righteous morality. One time a patient cheated on her boyfriend, and Cameron got mad at the boyfriend for deciding to leave.

The wonders of acting.
So all she had to do was remove her makeup.

The plot twist for this one was insane, with the other girl knowing she's not loved anymore. What's better, though, was how House got what he wanted without being legally liable for it. Cuddy wouldn't have anything on House even if she found out he con'd the woman into donating a piece of liver.
Some of these comments can get to anyone whether they are heterosexual or not? Abuse comes in all forms but most when it benefits the one who is taking advantage of the relationship - the most horrible human beings ever!

1:30 DON'T Give someone an animal as a gift! A pet is a decades long commitment NOT a casual way to tell a loved one that you're thinking of them. I hate that shit so much!
My Oma gave my brother a daschund as a birthday gift when he was like 5/6, and he loved her up to the end when she passed away almost a month ago, but he was so happy for the little dog and loved her so very much. It worked out for him, but not everyone has it work out as well for them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t
Gf probably knew she liked dogs and wanted one. The only reason she wasn’t willing to keep it was because she wanted to break up, which the gf didn’t know. I bet it wasn’t a casual decision, they really thought it’d be a great gift and a pet they could raise together forever.

She ended up needing a liver transplant. You can give part of a liver and that’s what her girlfriend did. However, you find out that the sick one either hates or doesn’t love her girlfriend anymore, and the girlfriend knows this. She’s a match for the liver transplant. “Now she can never leave me.”
Wow. That's pretty manipulative to do for any reason.

I had a friend once who was diagnosed with that. It's extremely rare, but not impossible to get even in this day and age. Thankfully it is at least curable now.
Wow, House played this perfectly!
yeah. it was almost as if it was scripted
nuffsed whiz is why he played it perfectly
Elijio Ledesma sigh, you're blatantly undoing my very subtle attempt at satire?
90% of everything shown was scripted, but not every scene is the pure perfection that the last one was.
Wow how selfless of that girl to offer half of her own liver. For an extra 2 days of diagnosis.
And to make sure she doesn't get dumped.
Also, its really uncomfy post donation, but within 6-12 weeks or around that, a persons entire liver regrows, so its not a huge act long term
except the risks for donation are a dozen times higher and theres a chance of simply dieing outright on the table.
Plus, your liver doesn't grow back exactly as it was before. Meaning you can't donate your liver again. Meaning she wasted her one shot.
LOL It wasn't selfless. She did that in order to guilt her into not breaking up with her. She (the donor) later said "Now she can never leave me".
Brace yourself, a bunch of super original lupus jokes are coming.
KillerB86 right under your comment was a lupus joke.

1:43 That's probably one of my favorite lines of the series "you...spoke to the dog?"
Am I the only one who was irked by the fact that everyone was pissed at her for wanting to break up with her gf? Unless they cut out the parts where she was flat out mean to her. But just because someone wants to leave someone, when they no longer have feelings for them, it doesn't make them a bad person.
No. The problem is that she strung the other girl along. If you want to break up with somebody, you do it, you don't wait. She knew she wanted to dump her partner a month before, but instead of being upfront, she kept up the pretense. That's what makes her a bad person, not the fact that she wanted to break up itself.
@@Rhyza13 how did she string her along
@@HBG313 Strung her along because she admitted she was tired of her to the doctor and not in love, when you're in a relationship like this and you don't love them and don't seek counseling immediately to fix the problem or break up it's stringing them along. You could even tell from the body language when she couldn't sleep at the start of the episode that she did not want to be comforted by her partner when she hadn't slept in 10 days that the relationship should have been over and done.
@@dstreetz91 Well I think she was just trying to get her ducks in a row before they broke up so that she wasn’t completely screwed and had to like be on the street or move back in with the parents or even worse live in the apartment with her ex girlfriend until she can get a place. It’s cruel but it’s honest
@@AJ-ny1ly also, she got sick.
To be with someone, recognize the good human being they are but become tired of them....that's sad
This was the first episode of House I ever saw. My teacher showed us this in my ethics class, and I've been hooked ever since.
Honestly feel bad for the girlfriend who isn’t sick. She truly loves her partner and doesn’t want to lose her, meanwhile the other is simply “bored” with her and too selfish to talk things out and fix it.
House: so you're saying we give up
Foreman: *explains in a longer way that his idea is that they give up*
I knew an ACTUALLY insominactic person once and she would fall asleep and then jolt awake. It was wicked sad. She has to take 2 different medications now due to it.
I've been a insomniac for roughly ten years now (yes around when I was 8) and around my early middle school years it got so bad that I would be awake for several days and start hearing and seeing things then I'd sleep for a day or two without getting up and then it would repeat. After I was grippy sock hospitalized at 16, the medicine made me worse so I stopped taking it and for some reason that helped. Now I get two or three hours of sleep every night (except during high levels of stress) and I haven't hallucinated in two years 🤡😩
I like how you can tell that House is sort of leading the girlfriend into donating her liver without outright saying it. As he walks away after telling the diagnosis, he looks like he's hesitating.
You can tell this situation is tearing House apart. He has to make it her decision...because it's the only way it won't destroy *him* inside to ask her.
Making them come up with the idea is one of the classic techniques of scamming.
Can the next video be about the hot model that house said was actually a boy
Agent Other testosterone insensitivity is a real thing. That actually was a boy, and the dad was having sex with him
_she_ had Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS). yes, she had a Y chromosome, but she was somatypically, hormonally, socially, and mentally female.
There are between 6000 to 15,000 people with CAIS in the United States and between 150,000 to 380,000 world wide.
and CAIS is only one type of intersex condition, there are many more.
counting all intersex conditions, about 1.7% of the world population is intersex, or about 124 million people
grymhild how many are in Thailand?
CoyoteBongwater lol
+grymhild
I can't help thinking that such conditions and perhaps ones we have no knowledge of or name for account for people feeling like they have been born as the wrong gender. Sex and gender are not as simple as some might like to make them out to be. They are a complex set of physical and probably mental factors.
Has there ever been a real person that is like House and is literally just a beacon of knowledge? Like this guy is the medical equivalent of a walking encyclopedia

The very first episode of House M.D. I ever watched. I was hooked from then on. Had leg issues during this time and my wife thought I would enjoy this doctor and show. I did and still pull the DVD'S out and watch House! When he crushed the vicodin in the napkin and poured them on his sandwich I loved it!
I know its a show and the medical accuracy isn't entirely precise, but I'm honestly kind of impressed that House concluded the patient had a movement disorder because she was able to sit upright as her eyes mimicked REM. It's a small detail but consistent throughout the series as House is very insistent on knowing every little detail regarding the patient and their symptoms.
House used his doctor patient convincing talk just right this time

House is bloody brilliant. He saved a life and a relationship.
Drinking a soda when there’s blood in your throat is honestly a terrible idea and no doctor would okay it, especially if it was coming from any sort of wound in her throat or stomach.
Obviously Cameron decided getting Max out of the room temporarily to dig into the relationship was more important than Hannah's health...
"You are lucky you have such a devoted partner"
Boom. Roasted 🔥
What did she mean by "I'm tired of her."?
I mean, is their relationship monotonous, is the gf boring, do they not do things together?
Or does she see a gf as a thing you have to keep you entertained, like a videogame or a Rubik's cube. You get bored and you toss it out.
I wonder if there was more to it than just "tired of her", and she couldn't communicate it properly on day 11 of No Nap November.
Hmm if only there was a full length episode that this came from where you may be able to find out?
@@xPanda25 they never stated why she was tired of her.
@@bluebubble229 Owned!
I'd say there's definitely more to it. If Hannah had a job before all this (and that's one big IF) she would've missed it due to her illness, but it was evident that Hannah wasn't exactly the breadwinner of the two anyway. Max most likely controlled all the money and dictated whatever activities and circles they hung around, as the "friend" Hannah thought she could trust with sensitive information ended up spilling the beans to Max anyway. Max wanted a trophy, wasn't actually interested in her girlfriend's thoughts or feelings.
You need to know more about the patient and donor than their blood types in order to transplant a liver.
UNLebanon they would’ve got that information when she had the blood transplant. Plus, the gf planned all of this so she would’ve already known she was eligible
They’re admittedly, I have normal relationship obviously is playing into this.
Did he really go and ask her to give her liver so that he stops her dying or just to give himself time to figure her diagnosis
Its house.... So why can't it be both?
I used to go into petite mal seizures and my eyes would do something like that. I was in second grade, on the bus, when another kid grabbed my shoulder and pulled me around to look at her. I'd been looking out the window and I guess she came over to my seat to say something but I didntrespond. She saw my eyes and got scared. Once she got me out of of it she told me what my eyes were doing. We both had to talk to a lot of people that day. I grew out of it eventually but I still avoid flashing images/lights. My brother had the same thing and he still has it
This is a good example when you see house walking back and forth when his team is talking house is listening. It’s like his brain is on the outside in the form of people and runs through scenarios until house picks one . Every time they talk to eachother house walks or looks down as he was making them talk .
House is a cheeky cheeky man. Tricking her into feeling guilty
She give her her liver. She really loved her.
She wants to tie her up at any cost and at any way possible even if she knows her partner doesn't love her anymore.
Chase here shows how he was always the true successor to house
Lol love how House proves Cameron wrong; her arrogance is absurd.
I really would've figured that House would've used (and enjoyed) Xenotransfusion before tricking the girlfriend into giving up part of her liver. It would literally mean attaching her to a pig and using its' liver to filter her blood for her.
House played his mind games to buy time to solve his puzzle. But also to guilt the girl about to leave, and even berated her as a b*tch (which is why she tried to confess last-minute before House knocked her out). Which proves House is neither *completely* heartless nor immune to being occassionally guilted himself (usually though not always by Cameron). This is why the first 3 seasons worked better; the subtle nuances brought about by the (original) team dynamics.
3:20 it never is, but you always dive right in, nose first and judgement in hand.
01:31 Pure Housiness :)

I don't know why there's an ethical question. He should continue as if he didn't know she was going to break up because there's no reason he should have in the first place. Any ethics involved are squarely on the patient.

I don’t know why it’s hard for couples to talk to each other. :/ It would be hard for Me too, but why?! What the heck are we afraid of?
Maybe because if you talk with your couple about something that is important to you, you will possibly have one of the next outcomes, one is about your partner not caring about the issue and that might hurt you because you are trusting your partner about something that is meaningful for you and at the end you get a let down
The second one is when your partner cares about that and that will make the relationship stronger.
It is a gamble because you might think you know the outcome however you could get a disappointment. That is why some people don't talk and keep quiet about some issues with their partner.
That is difficult because there is no book or rule about how to deal with this kind of problems since each person is different.

Ugh if it's lupus you have a positive ANA and a positive dsdna and have joint pain fatigue etc. It's not that complicated to diagnose lupus but for some reason doctors are reluctant to do the simple blood tests.
Just because they are the same blood type doesn't mean their livers are compatible. HLA match is more important than blood type when talking about solid organ transplants.
