Patt rant about dexit is basically: "I don’t really care that not all the Pokémon are in, so why everyone else should" although dexit definitely got very toxic. The initial sentiment of not having all the Pokémon shouldn’t be disregarded because of the toxicity.
The bigger picture here that people should focus on is that the game did not live up to the claims of the standards it was trying to set by omitting this significant aspect of the games that came before it. I don't think the response afterward would have been that negative if the game was something extraordinary. Still, it turned out to be just a mediocre experience after the fact.
It's alot harder then people think to program ALL POKEMON, I think every pokemon game should only keep all of is starters cause there the most special to every fan and that's just a fact if u go and ask anyone they Will say that there fav pokemon or one of there fav is a starter cause it's just nostalgic for them (all people who hate incenaroar in vgc get over it or just try to convice gamefreak to nerf him ) , that's my whole opinion on it, if they can add at least half of the previous legendarys that would be cool too

The thing that always aggravates me about SwSh discussion is the constant amount of misinfo spread during the time and how many people believed it during the time. When GF sid they weren't gonna include every Pokemon from then on, the statement everyone thinks was stated was that they were focused on improving just SwSh's quality, and then judge them on that. While that's fair, it ignores the more accurate statement (which is them saying they're not gonna have every Pokemon in favor of polishing the games they make.) People were literally getting mad over something that wasn't even true.
And every time you call people out on their bullshit, they always come around with more excuses and circular logic, as if they don't even understand what the "real problem" is, which btw is simply gamefreak hopping around on priorities.
Actually game freak did say that they're working on *high quality* animation, which wasn't the case at all as everyone knows, also I remember how Japanese fans also got mad at game freak but not because of the dex cut, but because they didn't tell them at all, they found out because of the anglo people complaining
You're right, HOW DARE fans expect that the game they chose as the first to do this in to actually be more polished than a roll of unused sandpaper. Then imagine the audacity when future games continue releasing in somehow more buggy and laggy states, hoo boy it sure would be unreasonable of fans to feel like Gamefreak lied to them.
@@TotallyCluelessGamer aside from the fact this comment was made 7 months ago, the fact that sv was released in such a buggy and unfinished state really has openend the eyes to a lot of people, myself included, to the fact that GF is probably pumping out too many fully-fledged games too often. I still stand by the decision to cut them off at SwSH to set the precedent though. Sword and Shield were, despite your personal opinion, polished games.

My favorite Pokémon have been cleffa, clefairy, and clefable, and now that I know people freaked out and called clefairy satanic when someone’s clefairy was named “loveislove” makes me like it even more. Clefairy is a queer icon.

Oh man I remember that Mass Effect "sex scene" controversy. Believe it or not there were several occurrences of "Have you actually played the game?" "No." in interviews with the people who were complaining. And a whole lot of misinformation being spread by people who hadn't played it, talking about how the sex scene was pornographic and had full frontal nudity and showed actual sex and stuff.
And it wasn't even inaccessible content like the San Andreas Hot Coffee incident (remember that?). People were just completely wrong about what was actually there in the game, and there was at least one time I remember when people were going on and on about how bad it is and then they were actually shown the so-called "sex scene" and were like, "Wait, that's it?"
The fact that people cared so much about the national dex is crazy like half of them wont even use it so why complain?

Near the tail end and in the thumbnail the nat dex thing is brought up and here's the thing. We don't technically need the 'nat dex' just let us transfer in x amount of Pokemon not in the dex at a time or something. All the raid mons we've had in ScarVi aren't technically in the dex and they're allowed in, do something like that.

@leondaglish2395 After 13 years of playing mainline games I’m well aware they’re not exactly known for detailed stories. I enjoy them for what they are. But slightly more interaction and immersion isn’t too much to ask.
I really enjoyed Scarlet and Violet personally. But I have to admit, there wasn’t enough NPCs you could interact with nor side quests involving Pokemon. It was all crammed into the Academy. Too many locations felt like empty, unfinished afterthoughts. It doesn’t have to be much. Just simple things, like clues from NPCs that lead you to discover and learn about a rare new Pokemon. They write fairly detailed dex entries for each Pokemon- the source material is already there. Makes it more real and immersive. The ruinous legendaries were a start but there’s not enough things like that in the game imo.
Cautiously optimistic gen 10 will have more quests and interactions like PLA. SV was developed mostly at the same time which would explain why they didn’t have time to implement learnings from PLA. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I was kind of fine with the concept of dexit. Game Freak could have curated a really cool Pokedex that forced you to use unique options. That didn’t really happen, we just saw the same Pokémon at the top of usage charts like Landorus and Incineroar. Super lame.
Changing the game to not include the whole of National Dex has it's ups and downs, of course having every option is more fun, but limiting it makes a more manageable competitive scene in my opinion, but the main problem is taking out the workload and giving nothing in return, the 3d games out of the mainline always had way better and creative animations, SwSh was a big letdown where you lost something and gained nothing, and to get a little of what you lost you had to pay more.

The national dex fiasco is so much laughable it doesn't make sense. After watching Lyra's video on completing pokemon r/s/e national dex you gonna need like 5 different games and 2 different CONSOLES not to mention multiple save files. Why the hell do I want that? People started acting all pokemons were available in a single game when it was never been there
in gen 7 i was able to do the whole thing with the gts. using rse for your argument is so intellectually dishonest.
There are many people who like bringing over their old pokemon from their old games, regardless of whether they have all of them (although there are in fact players that are invested in a full living dex).. This isn't just about completionism, or being able to catch every single pokemon in this single game, it's about taking something beloved you've had since childhood with you (when it comes to individual pokemon) or being forced to leave behind something that you invested a lot of money, time and effort into(with a living dex). Those are some of the most passionate players the fandom has, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to begin with so naturally they'd be vocal when they can no longer do what they enjoyed about Pokemon.
On top of that it compounded the issues people were already concerned about before, which include it being at least 50% more expensive in a lot of places because it was on switch, the graphics looking muddy and outdated even compared to other switch games, and the world looking rather empty and bland on previews which worried people.
In the end, in my opinion there was a lot of fun ideas in the game, but not enough for the new price tag. The environment is entirely too linear even compared to older games. There were barely any fun side areas anywhere and the second the plot happened that in older games would have been the "evil team" plot you take part in all throughout the story, you get shooed along to continue your gym challenge.

Fun story about the Xbox One
I got the Xbox One day one. With Kinect and everything as you had to. It was a Day One Edition, (broke the controller 2 years later and tossed it XD). I unboxed it shortly after midnight when I got home with my friend. We plugged it all in, got it all set, went to turn it on and nothing. Checked all cables, checked all connections, tried to turn it on again, nothing. Kept trying for about 10 minutes, and still nothing, no lights, no nothing.
Called up Microsoft support. Went through all the normal troubleshooting steps with them, nothing. Nothing worked, nothing happened, nothing would ever come on. I had no other way to test this at all, and I had no other way to test what the problem was. They suggested taking it back to my retailer (Gamestop) but of course, it's Gamestop XD.
So I couldn't play it at all the first night (sucks).
The next morning, called up Gamestop, they couldn't do anything. They didn't have another other Day One editions, and they didn't have any available to swap. Oh well... Called up the local Microsoft store, they told me to bring it in.
Couple hours later, I was in the shop, with my Day One, asking them questions. Here is what they did (since they had no idea what was going on being this was Day One), they plugged it in, plugged in the Kinect, and tried to turn it on. Nothing. They took my Kinect out and plugged in the display one, Nothing. They took my Kinect and plugged it into the Display Xbox One, it came on.
They spent about 20 minutes testing before they called their IT and explained what was going on. Since there was no error codes or anything, they couldn't really test it. They were lucky enough to have one Day One edition left and were able to swap it out.
I got an XBOX ONE, with either a busted Kinect Port, or a software defect that wouldn't see the Kinect and because of that it just wouldn't turn on. I was in the Microsoft store when they opened the day of the release. The store manager told me "This is the first we are hearing about an issue like this."
I was possibly the first person in the world that had a defective Xbox One with a bug/issue they never had before.

As a fan of monster raising games in general and not just Pokemon, its completely normal to not have every monster in every game. (Digimon has like 1400 individual monsters, and only like 320-340 are in the Cyber Sleuth games)
What's not normal is to try to do it for like 20 years despite knowing fully well that it's unsustainable, telling your fans that you're going to cut them out so that you can better polish future releases rather than admitting that it was a doomed idea from the start... then going on to release possibly the 3 least polished games the Nintendo Switch has ever seen while charging extra money to add a bunch of old Pokemon back into the game.

The only games they showed off for the Xbox was sports games and call of duty, then spent the entire time talking about how you could watch tv on it.
That dexit stuff is so silly, do these people just use the same exact pokemon every time they play the game? Limited availability forces the player to use pokemon (and maybe even come to like pokemon) that they otherwise wouldn't. A limited dex makes teambuilding a lot more interesting, whether it prevents a dominant strategy or makes the player make compromises. This was a strong suit of the shadow pokemon games I think (something pokemon fans claim to love).
for me it was never about the pokemon that were cut, it was about how they said "We'll focus more time to do better animations"

Any Pokemon being cut is going to anger someone. I haven't been able to use my best boy Gliscor for two gens now. My favourite gen 8 Pokemon Alcremie is cut from gen 9.

There are Pokemon that people have loved for a decade or more, but now they can't play with them.
@@regionfuego6 I mean they did, in Gen 8 all Starter Signature moves look very good especially Pyro Ball, Psyshock looks so good and many more moves look the best they have ever looked, but people will only focus on the bad animations like Double Kick or Zacian/Zamazenta sliding/walking
in Gen 8 every trainer even has a unique pokeball throwing animation while in Gen 7 everyone almost had the same animation except the player and there was no animation of someone throwing a pokeball in earlier generations, the player cycling animation was the best it has ever been and player running animation was neat too, but pokemon fans will go blind whenever these are on the screen and focus on some bad ones, for example if I ask you about Gen 8 animation will u choose "Gordie's backflipping while throwing his pokeball" animation or "Zacian moonwalking while turning" animation? ofc u will choose the second option cuz its not just u almost every pokemon fan will choose that, cuz they just ignore the extremely good ones
wrong, we had limited availability in BW but you could still transfer in Pokemon later and catch some post game. if they want to limit you make it post game. most of us use ALL of them in battles. a limited dex actually makes teambuilding actively worst, what you mean is restrictions for battles like vgc...who already does that. limited dex forces you into a smaller pool, which means those restrictions get even tighter and grow stale much faster.

I get a lot of people don't like pay to win but for me, as long as it isn't paying to get stuff you can't get from grinding its fine. There are parents out there who like video games, but they work 50 hours a week and have to come home to take care of kids. They don't have 40 hours to grind to get Darth Vader and they just want to relax. I think it is fine if you are a person who is in a good place financially but don't have a lot of time you should be able to do stuff like that. I would hate it if I had to spend 40 hours on a game grinding to get to where I want when I only have 2 hours of time a week I can put towards that.
Also EA deserves any and all backlash they are probably the most scumy company in modern gaming.

Atleast Sonic had some real gigachad moments once in a blue moon, like improving Sonic's design for the 1st movie, hiring fan devs to cr8 Sonic Mania (the best decision by far) & Frontiers' boss fights & music that came out of it. Where r those for Pokemon? I guess u can count Toby Fox composing for Pokemon now & the existence of PLA as chad moments, but it really depends on who u ask, so there's not a clear answer to it. I still don’t get why Dexit was so big as well, I still see a few people commenting about it on Pokémon’s Bird App. Think Pat explain it best, it was a small subset of players who where the loudest . Negativity always tends to be loudest, I believe it’s also the reason why the Pokémon subreddit added the “venting” tags. Your average joe or “casual player” isn’t gonna care. It’s why SwSh sold so well despite the “boycotts”
As I understand there was a narrative that the entire dex wasn't available to allow for polishing on the game, instead of time it took get the entire Dex in. People were hearing that Gamefreak was gonna put some effort in the make a really nice looking new world...regardless of how you understood what the press release said, imo SwSh kind of look like blah but it was the prototype for what Pokemon Legends Arceus and SV would later go on to do...plus I just didn't really enjoy SwSh that much myself, but those are just my feelings on it.
What pokemon fans failed to realize during their whole Dexit propaganda is that sooner or later GF wasn't able to keep putting ALL the pokemon in one game. There's over a 1,000 now so it's understandable that it would be cut sooner or later. However I'm sure the main reason why people were pissed off was because of the trees and the attack animations.

Personally I am happy the national dex is gonr because it took me like 5 years since ultra sun and moon were out to finally get the shiny charm and I don't want to go through the hell of having to get EVERY pokemon just to get shiny pokemon easier especially when I don't have friends who play the games around to help with trading and such

I'm completely fine with the National Dex not coming back if they did it to improve the animations, but..., we all know that they didn't really put more effort into it that much to improve animations and graphics overall. comparing it to Legend of Zelda and Xenoblade which was developed by Monolith Soft, GameFreak could really use some improvements not only in their games but in their development leadership

The movement would not have been as big if they did 2 things differently. Just 2 things:
1. GameFreak should not have lied to our faces about improving the 3D models. (Sword and Shield uses the models from X&Y. X&Y also had a bit of controversy about how small the new regional Dex was (72 new Pokémon). GameFreak's excuse was that they spent extra time future-proofing the models/making them better than the 3DS could display so that they could bring the models over and save time/put more effort into the newer games after X&Y. When Sword&Shield were released, they claimed they had spent time making new models. Sword and Shield has the models from X&Y.
They DID future-proof the models, but where did those extra resources for the next games go?)
2. GameFreak should not have cut the National Dex the same generation they swapped over to the most powerful system Pokémon has ever been on.
If the 3DS could handle 809 models, the Switch could handle those exact same 809 models, and 89 new ones (plus the Gigantimax forms. Dynamax are just the regular models scaled up) (because AGAIN, they're still using the X&Y models)
They had the models ready to go for Sword&Shield, the first Pokémon game on Switch, and they decided now was the best time to cut the National Dex
Should have cut it in Sun&Moon. Then they have an excuse. "The 3DS wasn't good enough" and then for Sword&Shield on Switch they say "We won't be bringing back the National Dex because we're making new Pokémon and have already cut the National Dex"

What sucks about the natdex thing is that there's dumb things that happened on both sides. Such a bloat was never going to work, obviously. But gamefreak is trying it's hardest to make it last. They're still offering a service specifically designed to transfer pokemon from game to game, which is crippled immensely by the cut. Not to mention, 400+ is already pushing it, but they're also trying to put in even more pokemon through dlc, as if the games were stable enough to warrant such an influx. All this is doing, aside from detracting from actually working on the games, is giving people an excuse to say that gamefreak is lazy, as if them trying their hardest to accomplish a task that was never going to be done, is a telltale sign that it can be done.
Imo, the best way to please everyone is to make a spinoff game or subseries specifically for fighting with any mon, colosseum style. (yeah showdown exists but it's fanmade and sucks in the visual department) There are flaws with this, since the original series designed for this exact thing died, likely because of the dex bloat. It would take alot of time, too. If done carefully and smoothly though, i think it would majorly lighten the burden off of gamefreak's shoulders.

Not sure about the overall outrage, but I tended to transfer and use all my pokemon for the postgame of each pokemon game and battle with friends. Last time I've battled with friends was back in 2018. I can definitely say I care and it's changed the way I play pokemon, overall being less enjoyable. There's other factors, but it was a huge shift

I'm gonna be honest, the whole dexit "controversy" was just nonsense, most of those people just wanted a reason to rag on the newest pokemon generation (Which is something that has been happening since gen 2 btw, pokemon fans finding bs ways to hate the new gen) and just saw this as a oppertunity to be "morally justified" in their bs. The fact most of these people were no where to be seen when scarlet and violet were being promoted shows they really didn't believe a word they spouted
Tbh I get why they didn't want to keep bringing every Pokémon back. Lot of work and time when most people aren't using that many. I don't like how they handled it. Having to pay for expansions to get back Pokémon that used to be in the game feels dirty when they could have probably done free gradual updates with just the Pokémon and paid updates for new content.
@@Amoro22thing is, you didn't HAVE to pay to get your pokemon into SwSh- if it was in the Galar, Armor or Crown Dex, it was eligible. Even some legendaries and Mythicals could be put in that WEREN'T in the Dex (due to an update the same day the DLCs dropped). So the "pay to get them" is a straight lie.
No I disagree, not having pokemon is not a the right thing also, they sold the pokemon to us as dlc, it's just bad business practices, Pokemon games SHOULD have the entire dex available. Not to mention they didn't show any promised HIGH QUALITY animation. The problem wasn't the lack of all pokemon it was that they lied to us about HIGH quality animation while using the same assets as 3ds games and barely changing moves. No way you think pokemon throwing kicks is acceptable on modern hardware. Ultimately it felt like dexit was more of just a lazy cut to meet deadlines rather than REAL development struggles. Tell me is any of the pokemon animations and world in swsh really hold on modern standards. Not even talking about visuals, just plain worlddesign pokemon moving around staring in the void isn't high quality. If it had close to snap lvl animation in
expense of more pokemon i dont think it would have been the main issue. It about the quality of the entire game rather than just pokemon transfer you need to understand that.
