  • Thanks for watching my vlog. I am a retired 6th grade teacher from California. I am presently living in Dumaguete City, Philippines with my Filipina wife of 47 years and our dog, Molly. My life here consists of traveling, giving away donated items to the Filipinos, and flying my drone. My passions are language learning, video recording everyday life here in the Philippines and helping others in any way I can.
Some have asked about my gear. Here's what I use:
    Main traveling work horse:
    GoPro Hero 4 Silver ( amzn.to/2dzTAW2 ) with flex clamp mount ( amzn.to/2dDueFP )
Mostly at home camera (The BIG GUN): Canon 70D with Rode microphone ( amzn.to/2dxgi1G )
Back up camera that's always in my pocket: Canon ELPH 115 ( amzn.to/2d7YGZU )
    My drone is here: amzn.to/2gjmBWv
Have you seen my little books on Amazon? Go here: amzn.to/2ou7ZKM
Many have asked "How can I help?" You can support this channel with a monthly subscription: www.patreon.co...
or for a one time donation, you can go here: bit.ly/2pLqppr
To send a package or just to make contact, please email me at TeamBudBrown@gmail.com
All support is greatly appreciated. I would like to give you credit for your generosity but I also understand some people prefer to remain anonymous. Please let me know and I will respect your wishes.

I think by now We're all aware of the bad in the Philippines and we are still learning and finally forced to acknowledge what is bad in the United States, for example. But Wherever we find ourselves living, regardless of the negative drama, if we focus our awareness on ourselves and the GOOD we can contribute here or there, we can effect a change in our surroundings and those we touch and make this world a better place. WE are the force that will change the world!

Cost of living any where depends on the life style one chooses to live. I'm with you I would rather spend my time looking for the good in mankind. The bad you can find almost anywhere anytime. We all have made our share of mistakes before. But it is the fellow who lends his hand of fellowship you never forget.

I was born at Clark Air Base and left Philippines when I join the U.S Army at 22 years old. I been going on a regular yearly vacation for one month per visit since 2002 till present and I already decided that I will retire in Philippines in the next two years at 62.
Thanks, Bud Brown for I can tell that you and me can see eye to eye when it comes on retiring in Philippines. People here in the U.S only HEARS what is negatives in Philippines. They do not have any idea that when you retires in Philippines that you can choose to live to anywhere you are comfortable with. Hospitality among Filipino is amazing. It runs in our genes. I am proud being half Filipino.
I am a Fil/AM and I am fluent in speaking in Tagalog and Pampanguenos (Dialect
in Pampanga) even though I don’t look like a Filipino. That is my advantage on you. Once again. Thanks, Bud. Enjoy!!!

what a beautiful heart you have sir, helping less fortunate locals.. happy to hear you're enjoying your stay, and not being fooled by negative news being aired by international and opposition controlled news stations. i am a traveller as well, visiting other countries when able, but when it comes to hospitality, definitely Filipinos are the winner.

Alright Bud! I've watched a couple minutes of this vlog. You don't need to explain to people what the purpose of your vlog is. Just keep doing what you and Gloria are doing. You are doing everything right and your way. Every country has its problems. I want to enjoy life and not dwell not the negativity of the world. I love the Philippines and have been going there since 1971. You two need to enjoy your retirement. AND BE DAMN WITH THE CRITICS! You are doing a great job and that's why you have almost ten thousand subs. Take care and enjoy life.

hi-I'm here from MD, and don't miss the USA one bit. I first came here in July 2009, went through Typhoon Ondoy which was a real eye-opener for me. My brother-in-law & I lived in Ina's house in Cainta on Luzon, and helped a few people during the flood.
They were the ones in the bungalos. The house was full of young mothers with children, who had no fathers with them. Meanwhile, cars, jeepneys and everything else you could think of were being ruined. My sister-in-law came to "rescue" me from
the dirty water that had everything floating in it you could think of. I picked up diarrhea that lasted two or three weeks, so that wasn't very fun. There was one time when I didn't get out of bed in time. I apologized profusely for coloring the sheets, but
apparently that was no problem with her. she slept in a friend's house anyway. I went home in January 2010, stayed there until November, then hi-tailed it back here. I stayed with my sons in Eastwood City, probably the safest place I've ever been in, except for the one-horse town (less than 1000 people) I grew up in back in 47-65 in Upstate NY.
I'm a vet and use the Veterans Clinic in PASAY CITY twice a year. I've been here since November 2010, and fully expect to die here. I told my sons to throw me in a body bag, and bury me out back. We now live in Novaliches, which floods also. I don't
mind floods because I've been swimming ever since I can remember, but would prefer to avoid the runs, several of which have been futile efforts to get ...THERE ...in time. What I really mind is having my books and any electronics ruined by them. My youngest son's computer was ruined the week after he got it fixed.
I find the Filipinos exponentially friendlier than Americans back in the USA, and now with all of the political troubles there, I don't want to even visit there. About a half dozen of them were gathered together when I was walking my son's dog, (he was too busy with the girls to do anything he promised he would do), and invited me over for a beer. They didn't know me from Adam, but we talked for about 1/2 hour or so, then I had to continue walking the dog. I can't drink for medical reasons, and had to explain that to them, as they thought I was Muslim. You NEVER SEE that sort of welcome in the USA. They've been friendly people, and not from anything I did. I'm told they just want to talk to test their English, even if it's only Taglish. Well, I've probably made sure you're blind as a bat by now with all this prattle of mine, so I'll quit here. Thank you.

I think you are lucky enough that you are living in dumaguete. that place is pretty laid back and a good place to live in.
I hope you can do a review on places that local tourists go to. I reckon, you are already considered a local there more than a foreigner, so you may have knowledge of local destinations that are only familiar to locals there. that is what I can "localized destinations" and these destinations, are usually better than the touristy ones.
so I hope you can give us a review or a vlog about that brown.
    salamat!

Bud I lived in Jamaica for a few years and there is a unique nighttime sound made by crickets. I'm interested to know what are the nighttime sounds in your neighborhood. I know you have roosters but what else? Is it typical for each neighborhood to have one or more families who play loud music or tv for example? Thanks. I enjoy your content and production. Naah , i don't want to share about my country, but because of this good man, let me say", yeah, your 1 dollar is 50 pesos in the phil. can buy enough for you. which most Filipinos need to work with US dollar income outside the Phil..for example, if you have 500 dollars, let's say, you can buy a Pump boat good for four passengers, that's in Mactan Island, in the Central part of the Philippines a peaceful island i may say, and that 500D prize almost the same prize of pump boat from other provinces near the shore. which I think, you will enjoy your whole retired life like me but i'm a Filipino, almost everyday and stay in a clear water sea with pork billy 4 dollars a kilo. or fresh tuna about 6 dollars a kilo. you can buy any of them, half or one fourth of kilo. About a thousand dollars can make a bamboo house unique for you to live in the province.

I would like to know how you adapt to the heat and humidity. Do you have any tricks? Have you found that your body has adapted to it over the years?

Bud I like your videos just how you make them, Why people have to be so negative is beyond me . There is bad all over the world not just the Philipines , but why does people want to focus on the bad why not focus on the good the kindness , love , smiles .
