I rarely comment, but as I'm watching this video for AP seminar assignment, I can't help feel deeply touched by the way they people charich Freedom. They people are from my view the bravest and the greatest, for all what they've shown during 1990-1991. I wish I can sing like them one day. I wish my people can sing like they people one day. I wish my people can be as free as they are one day.

Seventeen-year-olds often confuse cynicism for wisdom -- though there is much in our lives to be cynical about, do look deeper here. This is the best set of stimulus sources I've seen in five years of teaching Seminar. I think you will find some connection between sources that will lead you to a problem to solve that's interesting to you, if you approach the task with an open mind.
Even if the Estonians would leave the Earth here and now, their legacy would survive - the largest collection of folk songs, poems, spells and all manner of traditional text. We will survive. We always have, against all odds.
In 2007 I was a member of the KZN Youth Choir from South Africa that sang at the Laulupidu song festival in Estonia. Whenever I watch videos or hear some of the songs we sang there I get goose bumps. It really is an amazing festival, all the songs, all the people. Long may it last.
Here are the observations + interesting information for the chart: The festival grows and gathers more visitors every year The Song festival can accommodate 70,000 Spectators The next song and dance festival will take place in 2025 due to Covid-19 A series of Five Patriotic Estonian songs by Alo Mattiisen premiered in May 1988 Estonia issued their Sovereignty declaration on November 16, 1988 The singing revolution in Estonia lasted over 4 years Lithuania was the first soviet republic to declare independence News reported that 700,000 Estonians joined the protests Soviets tried to send a message to the rest of the world that they were extremist terrorists
It is simply admirable to see the courage Estonian people had through their singing revolution. How strong willed they were to preserve their culture and identity, regardless how ruthless the soviet regime was to them. It's those creative ideas that can make a change. They didn't need use arms to conquer their freedom, which now they're fully enjoying it like its other baltic brothers. It's been more than 25 years since they gained independence and we can see how it has become a free high developed nation. Greetings to the Estonian people from Brazil.

Bellísima demostración de patriotismo. Felicidades Estonia! Como español, siento una sana envidia de vosotros. Nosotros no podemos presumir de una unidad como la vuestra.
For you out there who have not yet been to Song Celebration, Matt Zoller Seitz of The New York Times has probably said it best in his review of The Singing Revolution documentary: "Imagine the scene in "Casablanca" in which the French patrons sing "La Marseillaise" in defiance of the Germans, then multiply its power by a factor of thousands, and you've only begun to imagine the force of The Singing Revolution." What you see here is a video. What you COULD see and hear and feel and participate in is the REAL thing. Welcome!

Ayo ap seminar people is this a good research question I’m struggling: “are there struggles with cultural expression within second generation immigrants that affect one’s own identity?”
Hey! You've got a good question idea, maybe fix a few things: first, you might not want to have an "are there" question as that limits you to only figuring out yes or no, are there or are there not. Also, second generational immigrants might be too specific but that can only be figured out after you do some preliminary research to find any sources focusing on second-generation immigrants. You can also reword the beginning like "to what extent do struggles (maybe specify these struggles as it might be a bit too broad: political struggles, social struggles, cultural struggles) with cultural expression affect second-generation immigrants' feeling of self-identity in the US (be specific here as well, this helps you find more research)?" You can also add or remove the US part and feel free to reword however suits you but make sure your question is open-ended. Not one that can be answered by yes and no. It should be debatable with multiple perspectives such as cultural, political, social, historical, etc. All are very good ones and work well with cultural lenses. A final idea I have on the top of my head would be "to what extent do (social/political/historical/cultural/environmental) struggles (affect the expression of self-identity for second-generation immigrants in the US? OR affect second-generation immigrants' ability to express elf identity in the US?) the "in the US" part for the last option can be removed or reworded but yeah hoped that helped lol, good luck TT
try using a "to what extent" moment bc they love that so like "to what extent are there struggles with cultural expression within second generation immigrants...
Other then re-wording it, I'd go with it! Just tweak the wording. "To what extent have second generational immigrants' indentities been affected?' Maybe? That kinda sounds bad to me to, but just N idea.
Overall I think this video is pretty good, however, there are some issues that must be addressed. Transitions between images and scenes contrast too much which hurts the eyes at times. Various images are also too dark to see and are blurry at times. Furthermore, this video mostly considers the social, cultural, and ethical perspectives. The font utilized is not considered to be professional. Overall a pretty good source with its connection to the real world and culture. @Collegeboard
I agree, and I also believe that the following video does not adequately provide viable connections with the political perspective, as it only hints at the ideology of unity, rather than indicating or even explicitly expressing how it has impacted political unity within the citizens of Estonia.
In the winter it's fun sledding on the hill in this video. Sculputurists also make statues at the end of it that you are allowed to climb. The year before I moved to the US, there was a crocodile statue.
so is there any analysis of the song and its melody or context? I find it is hard for me to understand... Questions like what is the meaning of singing such songs? Why does Estonian sing such songs? I mean... is there any essay that analyzes this song?
you could write an essay about the pros and cons of conformities, such as the ritualistic synchrony and the Estonian song of freedom, but relate it back to American society and its affects (so it stays relevant).
