This video was posted over 10 years ago and every August/September this video gets all sorts of views -- I know, I can not wait for football to return either.
This is why it pisses me off when people say "oh football ain't so tough, they wear pads." Without pads/helmet, people would die from hits like this. Listen, and look, at how hard his face/head hits the ground. Brutal.
Hundreds of Izzone campers at MSU were watching this on the big screen at the Breslin Center (our basketball arena) when this happened, the helmet crunch broadcast loud on the speakers. For the record, when we realized that Jefferson wasn't getting up immediately, we all stood in silence until we saw that he was okay. I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we're glad he's alright, and we hope that Wisconsin does some tests to make sure there's no serious injury.
holy shit. great hit. you give both teams credit. 1- the guy made a great hit(its part of the game) and 2- give the wisconsin guy credit for takin it and being a great sport about it.
regardless if the hit was legal or not, regardless if he stood up and ran off the field, for a player to hit someone like that, HELMET TO HELMET and celebrate for knocking someone down like that KNOWING jefferson wasn't moving for a while, is just no class and no knowledge of what can happen. u have to think about internal damages to jefferson. i'm not hating on MSU or warrick, but players need to know when to celebrate and when not to.
helmet to helmet like that is unacceptable. He should get suspended for a hit like that. Notice too how his spartan teammate reacts after the huge hit, he goes after the ball while the other guy is knocked unconscious on the ground, 0 Class, terrible play all the way around.
great play by a great athlete!it sucks pro football has come to being a bunch of pansies, and would have penalized or fined someone for this.thats why i dont watch pro anymore, its all about money and hotdoggin.college ball is where its at!
Nothing wrong with it? Probably, except for the illegal helmet to helmet contact and then celebrating the fact that maybe somebody will be paralyzed. Yeah, other than that, it was dandy.
it doesnt matter if it was a good play or not, if he saw the player hurt and the home crowd quiet he shoulda had given the respect of not celebrating with class.
I like the "Don't boo! That's a great hit!", followed by "That's a helmet-to-helmet...in the NFL, that's a penalty and a fine..." I hate commentators like this because they talk out of their ass half the time. Why not wait till you've seen the replay before making a comment?
He led with a shoulder. He flipped onto his head because Warrick brought the wood (not because the helmits collided. The helmits did hit but most of the force hit shoulder to shoulder.
That was a great hit. That's why they play with helmets man. Football is a dangerous sport. Shouldn't have thrown a hospital pass to that guy when warrick was obviously coming off the longer route. If you cracked somebody that hard you would celebrate imediately too. Almost all of the hard hitters in the NFL lead with their helmets too (Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, etc)
as the commentator said, in the nfl thats a flag and a fine. It has nothing do do with how tough or not the player getting hit is. Helmet to helmet contact is a good way to get paralyzed and thats why they've instituted a rule. i don't think the MSU player even meant to hit head to head, but that's not the point.
Oh please. He didn't lead with the helmet. That was a clean hit. Just becuase there was helmet to helmet contact doesnt mean there was intent to injure.
the hit was an unnecessary gesture by warrick, he could have went lower toward the body, more so than the head. "Danger lives in the middle, his neighbor is would be receivers."
man that was a vicious hit but i hate it when players celebrate after a hit like that, receivers always take sick hits bcuz they concentrate on the ball..
I'm sure there was intent. Not to injure, but you put you drop the ball in the middle of the field and you better believe your gonna pay for it. He'll think twice before he tries that again.
holy shit i saw this live i was like OOOOOOOOOOOO MY FUCKIN GOD HE IS FUCKED UP. but then no he just gets up right away. i mean damn his neck turned almost all the way around, but i think most of it was the helmet twisted too
It's getting to the point where they are just bred to play....like horses!! Screw school, right!!? Ahhhh, remember the days when school was MOST important and came first, and playing sports was a privilege!! Big Money, Big Money!! I am a Huge Football Fan (High School, College, Professional), and love watching recruiting, but it is getting to the point where its absolutely ridiculous. (cont. on next post)
They should make that hit illegal in college too, there is a reason it is in the pros. Helmet to helmet is bad news. I love my big hits but I dont love neck injuries.
Typical safety cheap hit! They don't know how to wrap their arms around the receiver and tackle correctly. I wished the guy had got up and ran for a touchdown.
id be celebrating too!...that made me jump off the couch what a hit!...#1 why is the recever vertically straight? hes just asking for it...As Lee Corso would say "goodnight sweetheart!"
You admire people who take cheap shots? I was at that game...cheap shot all the way. I guess you probably admire Charles Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer too.
That was fullspeed football. Anybody who knows or played football knows that. That is why football is called a collision sport. Of course those used 2 b common hits. That was barely helmet2helmet. Helmets do hit, it's football.
great hit by the msu kid,no doubt!but even better that the kid wasnt hurt.and stood up like a machine and trotted off the feild!damn i love football!!!
Cheap shot. Head to head shots are dangerous and should be penalized in college by fining the team and suspending the player. The celebration after by some Michigan players was even cheaper.
nobody has any room to complain, he didnt fly in there hoping to go helmet to helmet it just happened, if wisconsin would have made that hit the shoe would be on the other foot and state fans would be bitching great hit good game
this one goes out to badgers2819. ok...the celebrating was unnecessary. but if you think that hard hitting shouldnt be allowed then you should be permenantly banned from even watching football!
Seriously stop crying about what happened. Of course it was an illegal hit according to the NFL which they aren't playing in. But it was a hit that would be on Jacked Up, and just like the UFC or anything like that, people watch it. It was a good hit though, I jumped my ass out of my seat.
this is wat pisses me off about american football some times. A hit like that takes no skill at all, if they had no helmets on (ie like rugby) both in hospital. They still do gr8 hits in football but this isnt one of them!

Fr it does September 25, 2022
Over 16 years ago and I remember this like it was yesterday

My man would be kicked out of CFB if this happened today

Damn I was watching this game and I jumped the hell out of my seat.
ill never forget that hit. i was at a Qdoba watching this
Why the hell would he be suspended? That was a perfectly clean hit... Warrick is the MAN
helmet to helmet like that is unacceptable. He should get suspended for a hit like that. Notice too how his spartan teammate reacts after the huge hit, he goes after the ball while the other guy is knocked unconscious on the ground, 0 Class, terrible play all the way around.
as a current msu student and spartan football fan....this has to have been the hardest hit ive seen since ive been here.GO GREEN
It still is 😂😂😂😂😂
chikiny - what do you think of Don Rogers' turn-hit swipe?
great play by a great athlete!it sucks pro football has come to being a bunch of pansies, and would have penalized or fined someone for this.thats why i dont watch pro anymore, its all about money and hotdoggin.college ball is where its at!
oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
thank you so much for this clipp.....
the speed of his head hittin the ground
Nothing wrong with it? Probably, except for the illegal helmet to helmet contact and then celebrating the fact that maybe somebody will be paralyzed. Yeah, other than that, it was dandy.
I was watching this live. I thought we saw our first death from a hit on the football field.
NEMO!!!! I played football with him in Jr. College two years ago, I saw him hurt several people in practice and games like that, bringin the wood!
it doesnt matter if it was a good play or not, if he saw the player hurt and the home crowd quiet he shoulda had given the respect of not celebrating with class.
dang that hit was awesome but it was totally uncalled for to celebrate that much.
yeah really
that wasn't illegal
I like the "Don't boo! That's a great hit!", followed by "That's a helmet-to-helmet...in the NFL, that's a penalty and a fine..."

I know this comment is old, but your either blind or an idiot if you think no helment to helment contact was made lol
that was insane to watch it live!
I thought he was dead watching it live
Dude got DUMPTRUCKED. Jefferson is a monster to get up from that so quickly and run off of the field. Warrick laid the wood.
OW! Thats gotta hurt. Wouldnt be surprised if he's suspended a game.
Back when football was not woke to death

Are you effin' kidding me??? You can't tell that was a helmet-to-helmet collision???
it wasn't illegal. get used to it if you watch football
the guys laying dead and the ref is waving his arms liike a friggin duck haha
Ouch...
Oh please. He didn't lead with the helmet. That was a clean hit. Just becuase there was helmet to helmet contact doesnt mean there was intent to injure.
i hate that people get upset over such a great hit. football is a violent game and its supposed to be played this way
They keep saying helmet to helmet, but he led with his shoulder. The angle made the helmets collide, that's what comes with it 🤷🏿♂️

the hit was an unnecessary gesture by warrick, he could have went lower toward the body, more so than the head. "Danger lives in the middle, his neighbor is would be receivers."
man that was a vicious hit but i hate it when players celebrate after a hit like that, receivers always take sick hits bcuz they concentrate on the ball..
holy fuck he went fucking flying
That will make it to video.. Glad he is ok.
I'm sure there was intent. Not to injure, but you put you drop the ball in the middle of the field and you better believe your gonna pay for it. He'll think twice before he tries that again.
holy shit i saw this live i was like OOOOOOOOOOOO MY FUCKIN GOD HE IS FUCKED UP. but then no he just gets up right away. i mean damn his neck turned almost all the way around, but i think most of it was the helmet twisted too
That's why they tell you to hit those weights
ouch....
I remember watching this hit live..It was crazy..I think he got knocked out for a lil bit cuz he sure wasn't movin..
yea, you can lead with your helmet.

Head to head shots are dangerous and should be penalized in college by fining the team and suspending the player.

nobody has any room to complain, he didnt fly in there hoping to go helmet to helmet it just happened, if wisconsin would have made that hit the shoe would be on the other foot and state fans would be bitching great hit good game
everybody who thinks thats a dirty hit needs to switch to soccer... that's what defensive players live for
this one goes out to badgers2819. ok...the celebrating was unnecessary. but if you think that hard hitting shouldnt be allowed then you should be permenantly banned from even watching football!
