  • This is a Sony CFD-440 Radio Cassette-corder that I picked up at goodwill for $13. Im hoping to use it in the backyard while working or as a cd player in the den. It actually sounds very good for its size and build quality. The speakers have plenty of bass to them and the fm radio comes in very well. Sadly the cassette portion of the boombox doesn't work due to old worn belts. Some day I may get around to putting in some new belts in it.

I’ve been using this in my living room for a few months now. After I cleaned the laser it’s been working like a charm. When I was a teen in the 2000s I had the Sony CFD-Z500 I loved it. I’m hoping someday I find one out at a thrift store.

Nice portable Sony boombox mines an older one the only thing is the CD player doesn’t read the CD I mean play the CD but it’s really really loud boombox I have it’s got the first generation mega bass and it has different EQ settings like rock pop and all that stuff and jazz settings but I don’t see the mega base button I guess you have to hit it on the remote control my stereo portable it’s a very vintage boombox I have one of the very first edition boom boxes on the bottom it has a CD tray that comes out
And you put the CDN and then you Push the open close door so you can play your favorite CD 💿 it’s very heavy I opened it up and it has huge huge heavy speaker magnet for eight speaker

You can but you need to buy an amplifier to connect and play anything from the computer

You CAN use the whole boombox as a speaker system for PC. I plug my iPhone 5 (I use it as a dedicated music player) into the Mix Mic 3.5mm at the front using an Aux cable (a double-ended 3,5mm cable), with the left Function toggle set to CD. This basically turns it into a set of speakers for any device with a 3,5mm Jack. No reason why a PC would be different as the power is being supplied from the boombox’s own power supply connected to DC.
