ATTENTION: DIY Friends, it has come to my attention that my painting of the women on the glass may be portrayed as insensitive to throwback racist depictions of black women & blackface. Please understand my painting was created solely from good intentions within my heart and it was my ignorance that led to this sad discovery. I ask for forgiveness and hope that this eye-opening situation and awareness can help me better my actions for future art pieces and creative content. xo Danie
we all make mistakes but without even knowing we might hurt others, but good way is the seek forgiveness sincerely right away ,thank you for writing this
If people are really giving you commentary on this.. It's ridiculous. There are REAL women and REAL BEAUTIFUL women that REALLY look like this woman that is portrayed. To celebrate not only her beauty, but also the photography, the culture- is not a bad thing. People are currently looking for absolutely anything- don't even validate their poor interpretations with an apology danie. We all know your intentions.
The art was beautiful, the way you had intended. Don’t let people box in your creativity by being hypersensitive or worse, trolls. Half the people commenting that it’s racist, seem racist themselves. Next they’ll be saying you can’t even use the colour black because it racist, ridiculous!
Oh jeez. In my opinion people are so sensitive and just eager to find something to cry about. Rather than tripping over a damn painting go make a real difference in the world. Btw, I am from Cuba and found the painting beautiful because it reminds me of a picture my late grandmother had in her kitchen. Never knew what happened to it which is unfortunate.
Hi Danie. Thank you for the apology, I appreciate it and my understanding of the original comment is that it wasn't meant to shame you or name call, it was pointing out how the drawing was interpreted from a perspective that is different from yours. We are all entitled to our opinions but I'd like to think that we can point out when something might be offensive without it devolving into name calling.
@@DIYDanie hi ya Danie. Another great episode. Just one question. The picture of her pink winner dog looks so lonely. Are you going to leave it like that or is there a follow-up?
Finally! A gallery wall with so much personality. Honestly, I’m so tired of the neutrals, grays, and whites. They’re just so boring when life is full of color! I will definitely recreate this in my room. Thank you!
Tip from a teacher who used to decorate new bulletin boards at the end of the school year to be ready for the next school year... If you want to hide (or protect) an arrangement on the wall, cover the whole thing with rolled out butcher paper rather than taking the arrangement all down. Then roll the butcher paper back up when you're done and use it in the future. Oh, and great gallery wall, btw!!
The colour acrylic frames are gorgeous! Also I'm loving seeing your sleeve progress week on week. Can we please get a close up tattoo shot when it's done please.
I love that your friends are so supportive of your DIY in progress and that you share your talents with them!! This is friendship goals. And of course, I am AMAZED at the final product!! Incredible!
One thing is, you're a great creator. The second thing is, you're a great friend. I don't know what I value more, but definitely continue with both things, dear Danie!
Your first dye attempt may not have hit your goal but was a great start. Next time, when using natural dyes mordant is an important step. For tumeric I've had great success with Alum to get a beautiful earthy mustard yellow. Just add it to the presoak and soak overnight. A bigger container will give you less tie dye effect. I hope you try again!
I was popping on to say bigger dye pot/vat. You need a lot of space of agitation. And more water as well. A cushion cover, I would use my washing machine. Just clean it well after and do a wash of old towels/paint clothes after. I have a video on fabric dyeing. ruclips.net/video/DENqrTgV55k/видео.html
There is nothing I don't love. The neon frames, the choice of pictures, the way it has been laid out, the cheerfulness, everything. So many people don't understand that a gallery wall cannot be done totally random. It must be pleasing to the eyes and yours is spot on. I so enjoy your channel.
I don't know what I love more. The projects and how amazing it all looks or all the positive vibes and the fun you all have doing it. I just know that watching your videos brings a smile to my face and I always ALWAYS love your videos popping up on Saturday.
I think you and your team did an amazing job. Your pictures for your friend were all beautiful. I hope you smile everytime you go into Jess's home. I know i would. I'm kinda loving the gorilla. Peace out from South west France. Xx
Natural dyes: (my humble experience so far) when dyeing something you need to pay attention if there are different materials involved ( the fabric might be cotton, but the thread could be polyester, you had velcro too) and they usually behave differently. Presoaking in water helps A LOT with getting an even result and avoid splotches. Treating the fabric with a pre bath with mordants and fixatives after is important too, and I won’t go into details because there are so many and sometimes you get different results depending on what you choose and the dye you’re working with. Those neon frames are insane btw! They look so cool it’s like they’re lit 🔥😮
Wow! Just wow! Initially when I saw the beginning (showing the end result) I thought "NOOO, it's tooo much!" but then as I watching you lovingly create all of it with your own artwork added in and customizing the frames and extra fun stuff I fell in love with it all! Thank you for another amazing video girl!
I thought that 3D flower effect on the pizza art was so CHOICE!!! Sometimes those "oh snap" moments bring out the absolute best in our creativity (and I feel like that was perfectly demonstrated here!) Thank you for the inspiration (as always!)

OMIGOSH THIS IS AWESOME!!!! I am so tired of all these all-grey, boring renovations everyone else is doing, so it is always so exciting to see what Danie does!!
What a celebration of color! The pictures were so vibrant but what you did with the mix of statuary and shelves and plants and frames, magnifique! It would be a crime to see a sad face in this living room ever. Love that Frankie was part of your plan.
Beautiful and a lot of neat ideas. And the fact you added your own art makes it that much more special. And your lady on the glass was a Beautiful counterpoint to the lady with the flower hair. ❤️
This video was so FUN! I especially loved the neon acrylic frames. Can you do a full video to show how to put them together? It went a bit too quickly for me (I did watch more than once) and understanding how to glue the corners, the foam core backing as well as the stoppers to keep it all in place went over my head. But they were stunning when it was completed.
Re: natural dyes. I did some work with these in college! Use natural fabrics (✔️) and a mordant (helps the color stick and last). Alum is easily obtainable. Boil your fabric in solution before dyeing. I used it before dyeing with goldenrod and it came out a lovely, sunny yellow.
I especially love that even though this isn't at all my own style, I can really see the skill and appreciate how it all works together. (It's a very fun and exciting take on maximalism - I would just be completely overstimulated by the neons in that kind of environment if it were mine.)
I work with a woman that works with natural dyes and I've learned that cotton is harder to dye because the fibers are tight. Synthetic fibers can take dye better which is why the velcro area was brighter. As always, absolutely loved this!! Ur awesome!! 🤓💜🐕🎨🖌📐🛠💪🎶🎧🎮👾👽🖖
I love mid-century maximalism, it’s my own personal style as well! I started out with some mid century style, added inherited pieces, art and a passion for plants and collecting. Now it looks a little mish-mosh but I’m happy here.
@@TamarLitvot Agree! It may be great in a magazine but the majority of us average human beings don't live that way. Stunning, gorgeous and brilliant! I wish I was this brave. I especially loved the lady with the flower head and the Magic school bus t-shirt peek. 😆 I think I’ll need to watch this several more times. 🤗🇨🇦🤗
