I was born to Forest Hills Gardens - 73 years ago. My grandparents home is owned by my Aunt. Thank you So much for this. I moved all around and haven't been back in 50 years.
That is the most amazing suburb I have seen in NYC. I would have sworn you were in England, if it was'nt for the sunshine. Where I live, one of our main roads is Goodwood Road.
Hey, ActionKid...Forest Hills is just magical! Such a tranquil place with beautiful homes. I especially love the Tudor style and all that stonework. Another informative video...thanks for posting!
Enjoying your walking tours. As an ex-New Yorker living now in Dallas, I really miss NYC . I lived several years in Forest Hills, off of Yellowstone Blvd. I worked in Manhattan at that time. Was a long time ago, but thanks for bringing back some of my best memories.
Good morning actionkid !! ... I loved this area, the Forest Hill station is beautiful 👍and the neighborhood is very nice, ideal for walking through its streets, excellent video !! 💝💝👏
Forest Hills Park and surrounding areas could be the more upper class areas of England. I wonder what occupations the residents work in to afford those properties. It could also be Beverley Hills or Hollywood. Great video as ever, much appreciated.
Action wsup, i used to work in forest hills at the Sam Ash Music store. It's my favorite neighborhood in Queens and did live on 67th and yellowstone by yellowstone park. It was beautiful! I still have friends that live in that neighborhood. We used to play basketball in Austin Park and would also play hoops at Russell Sage Schoolyard as well. I remember taking my daughter's mom for a walk through Forest Hills Gardens all the way to Northern Blvd. We went to a very cool ice cream shop there and a cool pizza shop as well. I also have a good friend who owns a sports bar named "Cobblestones" on Queens Blvd. If you're ever in that area go check it out. Great food and a good vibe. Tell him Lamont recommended it. You might even get a meal for free! Keep up the wonderful work bro. Peace.
Lived there 10 years until 1986 and loved it. Greenway terrace from station square along stylistically coherent row houses to the leslie house was my view. Very leafy
Yes! NYC is a big place! Most people visit Manhattan when coming to New York! But Queens and Staten island which is the other boroughs got beautiful neighborhoods !
aftee watching your nyc videos i fell in love with nyc.you showed natural sides of the city aswell i tought nyc is just full of skyscrapers and nothing.but it s not.it has beautiful streets and nature. keep doing the good work thanks.greeting from Turkey
No Kid, They also put the Tarps around Tennis courts for; (1) Privacy of the Players (2) No visual distractions when you are serving or receiving a tennis ball. The darker green tarps are a natural look that doesn’t stand out, but are dark enough for you to spot the ball when playing.
4:48 I’m so awkward that I would’ve immediately turned around and went back up in a minute and a half because that’s the same woman you gave directions to that was super confused and distracted.
Damn! Those skills at 13:54! I think I would've just had to turn around if it were me. Good job! Another really beautiful area though! Unlike Cobble Hill, I didn't know this neighborhood existed. So nice. Probably not a much cheaper area either!
Forest Hills is beautiful. It looks very much like River Forest. Illinois, where I lived for a short time. It bounds Chicago, but unlike Forest Hills which is a part of NYC, River Forest is not part of Chicago.
Great video, however I suggest you tape your audio separately with whatever comments you want to member and then add the narration at a later time, that will take this to another level, anyway thanks a lot for posting this.
The not so clean areas (dirty) unfortunately are in Bronx-Some parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Living in Queens, it is WAY nicer than other places in NYC. :) Love my borough, great place for tourists too
AK: the green tarp on the metal fence around the tennis club and stadium is for a bit of privacy; tennis balls cannot fit through the size holes in that metal page fencing :)
Wow! How very different from Manhattan! And looks so very peaceful and quiet. So lush w/ plants and trees. So very nice. More vids like this pls. tho Manhattan's neighborhoods are also nice. Places like this are unique. Are there more neighborhoods like this in NYC? Anyway, thanks for exploring!👌😊
Excellent video, it was beautiful, calming, and your a funny guy lol. I hope you do revisit in the winter, I would love to see it. Keep up the absolutely awesome work!!!!!! I always look forward to see where you have went. :)
OMG! You sure took the longest way around to get to the train station. You were practically there and you headed back into the gardens. You were SO lost!!
Really very interesting, the houses in Queens are very similar to the building style with suburban houses from Holland and Belgium, when you shortly before the end under dierser bridge and the first larger house comes it looks almost like in Rotterdamm!
AK - The screening on the chain link fencing around the tennis courts isn't to keep tennis balls from going through the fence. It's main purpose is to cut down the wind blowing across the courts so that the flight of the tennis balls won't be affected too much. Plus it also serves as a privacy screen so that there are less distractions to the players (like guys walking around with cameras). Before I forget -- Oh my god, Action Kid got lost! :)
There are some gorgeous homes 🏡 on this route. You are correct. They are probably only affordable for that 1% of the population. Shame to see windows broken on that one home. You can’t take it with you by I don’t like seeing destructive behavior either. More exercise for you! 👟🗽👍
I keep getting recommendation that forrest hills and rego park is the best to live with a family .. what are your thoughts? You've walked everywhere ! What scenery/borough have you seen to be the most family friendly orientation environment living?
Walk down 71st Avenue to metropolitan avenue and make a left. Walk about a quarter mile and you’ll see eddies ice cream shop on the left. It’s the best ice cream in the country.

My favorite neighborhood in Queens. Love this 👍👍👍👍😎

I never had any interest in visiting New York, until your videos. I hope the tourist board know what a good job you're doing.
Thank you 😊
The problem is that most folks think NYC is only midtown Manhattan. AK proves otherwise!!!
The buildings in Forest Hills are so beautiful and streets nice with lots of trees! Peaceful area. Lovely walk!
I’m from México and i really love your videos, because i’m learning about New York and learning English as well.
Wow, these scenes sure aren’t what a West Coast guy like me thinks of as New York City. Thanks for the eye-opening consciousness expansion!
@El diablo da Costa yes. forest hills is part of nyc
NYC is big! Many communities like this,Especially in queens.
probably THE most expensive neighborhood in queens
@@dragonboy718 Jamaica Estates is just as if not more expensive.
@@dragonboy718 not even close. Try Whitestone.

You made the wrong choice man.
I just want to say. my sleeping habits are not too good. But your walks have helped me relax and eat my dinner and go to sleep. Thank You.
I’m happy my videos are helping you sleep 😴
You walked right past the house I lived in up to 24 years old. Miss that neighborhood to this very day. Thank you.
Saw the Rolling Stones at the Stadium - back in the stone age. Thanks for the video. Cheers.
The most English looking place you've shown so far, even got our sparrows.
Good morning actionkid !! ... I loved this area, the Forest Hill station is beautiful 👍and the neighborhood is very nice, ideal for walking through its streets, excellent video !! 💝💝👏
Forest Hills is so beautiful 😍
A very enjoyable tour of Forest Hills, it looked like many affluent suburbs here in the Uk.
'Some of these homes look like castles'.. You'll have to call that area Little England..
Iain Sanders you missed the chance to say ‘Little Britain’. ;)
@@PjotrStroganov We're not all like those two! :)
The names of the main streets are in alphabetical order and names of places in England.

Yes, the Tudor style homes do look like England. I can imagine the properties are super expensive!

Yup, NYC has a lot more than skyscrapers!
i think you should get promotion from nyc tourism department.👍
The skyscrapers NYC is known for are on the island of Manhattan. Forest Hills is in Queens. Still part of NYC but is a different island
