The first time I laid eyes on this track I knew it spelled trouble, mainly because the sun and the shade on the track (or better the lack thereof). The sun will warm up this track on no time and getting in the dust on the track will result in sliding and God willing there is some space to recover. That first turn after the start.... if you end up in the middle of the pack you are going to touch or get hit, you cannot simply not fit that amount of cars through that first chicane. Gearbox wise it will be interesting as well, how to gear so that you strike that balance....
So it's like Monza and Monaco had a child? Cool. Strategy race it is... Hopefully nobody crashes. Seeing walls that close at those speeds will probably feel like 5m19s lap the 919 EVO lap made around nurburgring.
Seeing safety car doing the flying lap was enough to make me anxious.. the race will be insane! Hopefully everyone will reach the finish line in one piece 🎈
the fact they will be using safer barriers makes me less uneasy about it... those things do can take a hit and keep the driver safe as proven time and time again by indycar and nascar(more indycar then nascar but still). no deaths by smashing into concrete walls since implementation.

two thoughts... 1. this is going to be a thrill of a race, super fast circuit with no runoffs and drivers are all blind to anything 3 seconds ahead of them essentially (potential for real dangers) 2. this is going to be another Merc dominant performance (HAM's got the Brazil engine and the track is front limited)

The Drivers can most of the time only see 2-3 Seconds ahead, If someone spin on a "straight" 4 Seconds ahead of you, u probably have to t-bone the other car or go straight into the barrier with over 250. This Track is too dangerous for a F1 Race. Hope everybody will be save and im wrong.
Imagine 2 Drivers fight, crash on a straight and the Cars behind see it very late.
My worst fear as well
@@micahkiyimba8641 its likely and could be very dangerous
Like coming over the hill in Portugal at a safety car restart?
I don't know how they got approval for it's design and building then if you think it's not safe. It was even inspected post construction and given the green light. Clearly they didn't have the benefit of your vast knowledge in regard to Formula car safety.
@@SomeRUclipsGuy well Herman Tilke designed it together with his son apparently. So they probably just rubber-stamped the approval from the last track he made
Did one of the most famous racetrack designers in the world seriously named his child CAR SON
Can’t believe 2021 season is almost ending
Only 2021 could throw in such a curve ball track, what a year it’s been hoping for a safe weekend for all 👏🏻🏎
Did they build this circuit for only 2 years of F1? That’s the insanity! 😬
Arab Oil money talks 🤑
Money is a non issue if it springs out from the ground...
I live in Australia, and 30 degrees is a "nice" day in December. The record for Western Australia (where I'm from) is a whopping 49.7 in Marble Bar, with 40 degrees days a commonfold all across Australia
Well we got a great race at Sotchi, in France and in Spain this year and a poor race in Austria so we can't expect what's gonna happen !
My main concern is the relatively blind corners as the barriers pretty much preclude the drivers seeing much past the apex of corners. Praying for a safe race.
Thank you WTF1 for all your content you put out there to educate us, the mortal ones.
I said from the very beginning that I will not watch live any segment of this weekend GP, as a way of protest against the hypocrisy of F1: on one hand they are claiming equality for all, no discrimination, sustainability bla bla, and yet, Saudi Arabia, which is one of the most discriminating country in the world, hosts a Formula 1 grand prix... sad, very sad.
F1 should claim: equality, unless contracts say otherwise
You are a hypocrite
This is sure to be one helluva race weekend in Saudi Arabia.
1:18 308.4 Kilometers”
Matt, that is distance. Speed is measure like Kilometers per hour.
Safer is huge to have at such high speeds. Great to hear they put it in Jeddah
Even though there are 27 turns at this track, there are only 7 braking zones! WOW!
I heard him talk about the weather, so I translated it to Fahrenheit and living in Texas that doesn’t seem too bad tbh their temps in December
will there be a beheading on friday after fp2?
😂 😂 😂 😂
Every hour on the hour
Not on F1TV
This track is literally 13 km away from my home lmao.
Its soo cool to see all of this in the city I live in.
pray for a safe weekend
Expectation: Pure throttle to the floor flat-out throughout every section.
Reality: Slowing down to manage tires, fuel, and harvest energy more.
"Take a look at this track..." Long flat out blasts, the majority of the corners are taken flat and 3 DRS Zones. This is precisely WHY Red Bull are being written off because of that Mercedes Brazil boost. It's tailor made for Merc. Safety Car? No problem, just pick 'em off like Lewis did down towards Turn 4 in Brazil. I would absolutely love for this comment to age horribly, but for now, there you are.
I'm gonna hold you to it lol. Hell maybe Lando will get his 1st win. Could be a descent track for Mclaren
@peter pan what exactly do you gain by not having a decider final race? I thought the whole point of sports is to have excitement and entertain not to bore us to death. As a ham fan I am loving this year and have no doubt the 8th is on its way
@peter pan that would be a race...but I say it's gonna be Ham,Ver,Bot once again...although the Mercedes should have more pace,Valteri doesn't have the killer instinct for this track...plus he's leaving the team and doesn't want to take crazy risks.kinda understandable.i just hope there will be no decisive crashes between the 2 contenders...
@peter pan well my elementary maths and logic says it would be more exciting if the go to final race level or 1 point difference than say a 10 point difference. What part of that are you struggling to grasp when u want versatppen to finish below merc Ferrari and McLaren
@peter pan are you sure u r talking about me? All I said was Hamilton will win the title. I made no comments on Merc or track or anything.
Go look at the Mercedes virtual lap 😳 wft were they thinking. Oh I know cash cash cash, but still.
'30 degrees in December' Now that's the best part 😂😂😂
New circuit + street circuit + high avg speed + 34 corners + no run off + Mazepin = Defenite crash
Prayers for Verstappen, he will be the Champion this year. Go Max
the fact they will be using safer barriers makes me less uneasy about it... those things do can take a hit and keep the driver safe as proven time and time again by indycar and nascar(more indycar then nascar but still).
no deaths by smashing into concrete walls since implementation.
Everything you need know about the Saudi Arabia grand Prix:.
it's Saudi Arabia.
Playing it on F1 2021 is frightening enough 🤣 these lads will be earning their money this weekend.
Early on in the season there seemed to be a considerable amount of dislike for this track, but now more people seem to be getting excited about it (me included)
I can relate. I think with the sim-racing mods out, it looks more fun than expected. Hopefully optimistic for an exciting race!
@@mols89 I've been playing it on F1 2021 and having a lot of fun with it. It's a pretty unique track making a refreshing change from the ones that we've all been going round over and over again.
The layout of the track looks like someone was gripping a plastic knife too hard and it melted in their hands 🤣
My brain about f1: if the undertaking tactic did not work in circuit of the Americas, Max would probably have no chance of the championship
Me explaining to a friend: neeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooowwwww
Would love if he added American unit conversions
Rights out and away we go
Nice one.
Matt, I feel like this circuit looks a little too much like the Paul Ricard circuit in France, just the layout
This track has more rights than the country itself.
I just laughed at the tumbling Red Bull tin can car at 2:40
Good job finding that footage.
Can we stop pretending Saudi Arabia is a nice place please
The Vietnam track looked even scarier in some sections. I think it's a travesty we couldn't see what the Vietnam track would have been like.
Defo get old school pre-2002 hockenheim vibes from this track! Ultra fast, quick sweeping sections and a pinch of tighter corners!
I feel this track will become instant classic
Nice video that made me hyped for the weekend
That 1st lap is going to be crucial!
This track seems to be quite narrow. If Max and Ham get close enough to fight, there'll be blood.
Packed with information! Loved it. Didn't know about Qiddiya, but I would miss this track if the race moves there. If so, Formula E could shift here from Ad-diriyah, speaking of which, a comparison between Ad-diriyah and Jeddah Corniche would be great. The Jeddah street circuit looks as tight as a usual Formula E track, not in terms of the high speed nature, but the proximity of the walls.
Can someone explain to me why the race starts at .5 hours and not o'clock like every other race did? Is there a reason or did they just thought "nah let's change it and let the fans riddle why"? :D
this track looks so narrow and tight.. Turn 1 and Turn 2 are going to be pure choas right off the start! it really feels like there is no room for two cars to be side by side at many places around the track.
27 corners sounds an awful lot, but looking at the circuit map it seems there aren't really more than 14 that should be counted as true corners.
From what I've seen, the future Saudi Arabia GP track is supposed to have 34 (that's 3 4) corners! Have they seriously lost their mind? I mean, that's just too many corners, and many of them look like they won't provide any fun.
Can’t wait for the first lap!
30° in December ? I'm from Canada, and, currently, it's 3°C and raining. Last night, it dropped to -5°.
I can't call turns 5, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25 and 26 turns, but arched straights.
0:39 as a South American, i can say that in december (at least in Argentina) 35 degrees celcuis is indeed quite regular in december
jajajajja el asunto es que en arabia saudita es invierno!!
@@juantromba AH VERDAD, INVIERNO EN 30 GRADOS ME MATO,
This is gonna be a great race. So excited to see what happens. Really want Redbull to pull through this one.
Great vid as always Matt!
I'm excited for this but the race direction will have to be very efficient in case of a crash to warn the other cars
No idea how masi is going to make up track limit violations on this one 😂😂😂
@@gurrrn1102 True omg 😂😂😂😂😂
two thoughts...
1. this is going to be a thrill of a race, super fast circuit with no runoffs and drivers are all blind to anything 3 seconds ahead of them essentially (potential for real dangers)
2. this is going to be another Merc dominant performance (HAM's got the Brazil engine and the track is front limited)
mclaren and alpine are also pretty good at these fast flowing corners. and rbr was pretty strong at monza as well, nobody knows whats going to happen, people thought losail would favour the rb more than the merc, but we all saw what happened.
