Jeep had 224 sales last month for Australia. Ram, Skoda, Ssangyong, and Peugeot outsold it. For comparison Toyota sold 18,471 vehicles. I don’t understand how Jeep is commercially viable these days in Aus. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull out of Aus as Stellantis continues to struggle with Jeep in the North American market and in China.
I wouldn’t say Jeep is struggling in the US, sure here yeah they are, but that’s because they’ve gone too far into the “luxury” segment. And with that prices have increased and people will obviously pick Japanese rivals over Jeep, that’s how it’s always been.
Thanks Matt. Great review as usual. I really appreciate your concern for safety equipment in car and the money you pay. Safety equipment should be added even that might raise the starting price up a little bit…
You’re right Matt, it is going to struggle with that safety rating and price. They burned a lot of bridges here in Aus. I think the Xpeng G6 is going to do well when they get established here. And I do believe that Xpeng will be shoulder to shoulder with BYD. It’s just a feeling I have
When I saw this for the first time (wasn't sure how big it was) , i really liked it - but that likeness was short-lived as soon as the interiors were shown. Fastforward to today - I still like the design of this vehicle ( externally ) but the price point, it's being introduced at and interiors + range - in my humble opinion it will not even make it to anyone's bucket list let alone buying list - with the exceptions of jeep fans ( off which there are a few n far in-between )
Looks great in the top spec model, but as mentioned, it needs a serious price reduction and service price reduction to make it look like a possible prospect, I normally don't like jeeps for the issues and reliability they have, but this could be a game changer for the brand, but they need to come to the party on price point
I do like the look of the car. I like the higher ground clearance than most others, which is good for difficult driveways. And I am guessing (or hoping?) it is not collecting as much user information as some other brands do. It does seem a bit pricey though, even for the base model.
Yeah. If I had that much money to spend on this kind of thing I would still get the Megane. This thing has got character though. I could understand someone buying it. But no they won't sell many.
Jeep have a really bad service reputation so thats a "NO " . The price is also ridiculous , but again made in Europe. Would really love some to do a video that breaks down the full landed costs.
I agree. They won't sell at this price. Renault Megane E tech is better value but still they don't sell to many of them. So, Jeep needs to be 10k cheaper across the range.
The look is unique. Then you compare everything else with other cars that are cheaper and you will really struggle to find a reason to even shortlist this. I really liked Jeep and it's very sad to see the brand plummeting..
Lexus all the way. I actually don't mind scratchy hard plastics. The Triton I drive has a hard plastic arrn rest and top of door and I don't even think of it, it's never a problem. It's probably a competition thing with new cars, you pay a lot you want the best.
Jeep is an iconic off road brand whose success lies in recreation. They have a cult following that other brands would kill for. Yet they go here up against MG and other Chinese brands… this is what happens in corporations that have lost their way.
Jeep : We are hiring engineers that are not taller than 160cms. They will be building a practical Jeep Avenger Outcome : A Jeep Avenger that only fits people less than or equal to 160cms. Sales = DEAD!
I guess with Stellantis nothing is strange and cost cutting with stuff like halogen rear lights while charging top dollar. Design wise it looks good but wouldn’t buy due to Jeeps reputation here in Oz. 3 star safety rating! FFS.

Definitely
I once owned a jeep. It was constant electrical issues. So I’m sure an electric jeep will have no issues.
only Jeep by name made in EU by Stellantis so hopefully it's better made

Wow those are depressing figures.
They were sort of ok until Stelantis took over and now they are just as crappy as Fiat etc

How on earth would Jeep think this will sell for those prices is beyond me, they will be slaughtered by the competitions
I must be completely out of touch, but that's a $30k car at best.
I’m interested to see how a Jeep based on the Peugeot 2008 will perform in the Australian market
Me too!
EV Jeep ...what could go wrong 🤪
😅😅😅😅😅
Funnily enough they might be more reliable than their crappy engines and transmissions?
Looking forward to your Zeekr review
Thanks mate! I may have some other Zeekr content coming…. 😉
Thanks Matt. Great review as usual. I really appreciate your concern for safety equipment in car and the money you pay. Safety equipment should be added even that might raise the starting price up a little bit…
Thanks! Yeah, safety specs should be democratised by now, surely.
You’re right Matt, it is going to struggle with that safety rating and price. They burned a lot of bridges here in Aus.

Thanks mate. I can’t wait for a drive of the Xpeng. 😇

if you got some sub chassis shoots you have the skill to describe.Your smooth without being too smooth
Looks great!!

I hope they don’t discount it deeply post launch, and burn early customers…. As has happened in other instances.

Yep, it is a good package. No doubt. I just wish it was more affordable.
I’d prob get a byd Atto
Not a bad idea

Yeah, Megane is a cracking choice for this money. But I hate to say, I forgot it existed 🥸
@therightcar I don't blame you! The market seems to have the same problem. 😉

My Jeep Grand Cherokee blew both the differential and electrics under warranty. Jeep tried to dispute the warranty to repair. NEVER AGAIN .....
I think you will need to be a huge Jeep fan to pay this amount.
Never been a Jeep fan.
The look is unique. Then you compare everything else with other cars that are cheaper and you will really struggle to find a reason to even shortlist this. I really liked Jeep and it's very sad to see the brand plummeting..
I thought Jeep as a company was dead? That aside I predict this Avenger will not sell here in any economic numbers.
Not surprised if during the filming of this review, the rain then fried all the electrics rendering this $60k (!!) Jeep to the back of a tow truck..
Jeep will pull out of Australia within 3 years. Do not buy!
Won't be selling many of these things at all. Jeep won't survive and will leave Australia. They have already been booted out of China i beleive
This car with this spec and range should be only $40,000 drive away, any more then it's a rip off!
An EV Jeep .What could go wrong?😊
Made in Poland.
Yes!
Lexus all the way. I actually don't mind scratchy hard plastics. The Triton I drive has a hard plastic arrn rest and top of door and I don't even think of it, it's never a problem. It's probably a competition thing with new cars, you pay a lot you want the best.
Mahindra BE EVs launch in India yesterday
Reaction on it
BE6e and BE Xev 9e 💥💥💥💥💥💥
This is a lemon bar, none.
A nice looking mini sized car at a mid size suv price. Delusional.
Jeep is an iconic off road brand whose success lies in recreation. They have a cult following that other brands would kill for. Yet they go here up against MG and other Chinese brands… this is what happens in corporations that have lost their way.
Absolute useless, unreliable rubbish. Jeep are 1 of the most recalled vehicle in the history of motoring.
Not more than my wife's BMW
Sick of it
I’m surprised that jeep is still in manufacturing 😂
If I'm ever stupid enough to buy an EV, it will be an MG4.👌
Hahahaha
Anything from Stellantis is never going to be your best option. Period.
Wow.
Jeep : We are hiring engineers that are not taller than 160cms. They will be building a practical Jeep Avenger
Outcome : A Jeep Avenger that only fits people less than or equal to 160cms.
Sales = DEAD!
Good grief that’s a hard no.
Needs to drop in price
Perfect 15 Minute City Shit Box.
Hahahahaa wow
I guess with Stellantis nothing is strange and cost cutting with stuff like halogen rear lights while charging top dollar.

Failure for sure. Always wanna be a premium band (at least in AU) however the product cannot reach that level.
Isn't this JEEP trolley a piece of junk?
🤯🤯 NEED NEW SHOES FOR CAMERA HAAA😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Know any shoe sponsors? Would love to wear a new pair of Jordans every shoot ….
Way too expensive for what it is. That, plus Jeeps build quality and reliability reputation - I'd rather buy a Chinese built EV.
Jeep who?
Looks like a fail to me
