What an insane release, seems like the SHM team needed a break from Godzilla because these recent releases look to have improved paint compared to a few years ago.
The last few releases have been really good aye. Cant wait for the 2023 Godzilla later this year!
Iris a kaiju shrouded in mystery, the movie never explains the origins of iris (likely on purpose) as the movie theorizes iris to be either a mutated gyaos or a creature created by the people of Atlantis (just like gamera) but it was made to specifically kill gamera if gamera ever went out of control just like the gyaos did.The gender of iris is never confirmed either, it's never called male or female, just it's name. Finally, it's personality is unknown.
Either was a nice/neutral creature that became wicked because of ayana's hatred for gamera or it was wicked from the start and manipulated her for it's own needs. The tentacles (real name is tentaclancers) have supersonic scalpels at the tips (same attack gyaos has which is evidence it's a mutated gyaos), and iris at one point steals gamera's plasma enengy (with spear absorbers on his arms) and tries to use it against him with those same tentaclancers to form it's overboost plasma attack.
Man, the Monsterarts fan in me wants this so bad, but I’ve never been into Gamera at all so I really can’t justify buying it lol

I recommend the gamera trilogy which is where iris is from
The trilogy being better than a good chunk of most godzilla flicks
This figure is absolutely stacked with detail and paint! The overall presentation on show is awesome and the abundance of accessories is fantastic! Makes me think Toho charges a hefty licence fee for thir characters given the price to part and quality on show with those characters, compared to Gamera, Monster Hunter Etc.
Little fact about Iris: its tentacles are almost 2 kilometers if spread out from tip to tip (rip not getting really long tentacles)

First time seeing this monster and it is really an impressive design. Doesn't the body also look like a face? With the blue chest parts looking like eyes.
Highly recommend watching gamera 3 which is why iris is from (along with the heisei trilogy as a whole)
Actually yeah I was thinking that when I was editing. I guess it is kinda of mimicking those birds that have faces on their chest etc
He looks awesome! I know $300 is a lot, right after Rebirth, but I can't wait to add him in my Gamera display. I may display her flying, those wings are beautiful! Oddly enough, until reading the description on the box, I always thought Iris was female :/
Actually, iris has no confirmed gender, the movie never makes it clear which gender iris truly or what it's intentions were or what it's origins are. The kaiju is shrouded in alot of mystery that makes it mysterious and odd but in a good way. The only indication iris is female is just the name alone, but the body does give off a masculine vibe though, then again that too can't be fully used to determine if it's male or female since legion or biollante are female and don't have feminine aspects on their designs
So the gender of iris is honestly up to the viewer
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Huh, okay thanks for that. So I guess in a way it's similar to Hedorah. Ive always called Hedorah a female (mostly thanks to Final Wars). But its good to know I haven't been 100% wrong all these years, lol.
@@JH-uh9zc actually the showa hedorah is confirmed to be female (shocks me I know) meanwhile FW hedorah is either vague in regards to it's gender or its likely male due to the male inspiration that version had. Both were inspired by human privates to a degree, showa inspired by female privates, FW being inspired by male privates, the whip like part on FW hedorah's arm.....yeah...that ain't no whip...
@@Kaiju-bm4ts Oh really! I didnt know Toho confired she was female, just a fan theory. Thats cool to know as ive always called it a "she" growing up. I think there was a trading card that I saw mentioning FW Hedorah was male, and after seeing it...yah he is, lol. But I never knew this was official cannon.
But your right that Gamera 3 never mentioned if Iris was male or female, so I guess based on the name I just assumed all these years it was buff female with blue titties,..

How does it pair up with the Gigan 1972?
As awesome as Iris is in action figure form, i am getting tired of SHMA releasing figures with no chest articulation.
King Ghidroah 2019, Mechagodzilla from GvK, Gigan 1972, Gamera from Gamera Rebirt, Gamera Kyoko Decisive battle version and Iris.
Don’t get me wrong all those figures look fantastic and i can understand why most of them don’t have chest articulation because the designs are really out there, although I don’t see any reason why SHMA didn’t give Mechagodzilla from GvK any chest articulation aside from cashing in on the success of GvK. I just hope that SHMA doesn’t continue this trend
If the character never moves their chest period in the movies/shows they appear in then why would they need chest articulation?

No one knows as iris's gender was never implied in g3
