I have been wanting to do this for years out here in north jersey a friend of mine also did this and keeps telling me to do it. Exactly what he told me you have also just verified it to be very accurate from everything you need to get started and the amount of money per month. The part about buying the right van is nonsense. There's a local small-town guy who lives across the street from my family member who paid cash for 3 of his kids to go to university. He only sells ice cream, drinks, and other snacks out of the back of a 1992 Oldsmobile station wagon with igloo coolers from Walmart.
The key is, to play loud ice cream truck music and ALWAYS use the same vehicle because people remember what the vehicle looks like and know he sells ice cream. He made a lot of money selling at multiple public baseball/field practices that don't have concession stands. The rest came from cruising poor neighborhoods. You just have to know your buyer demographic, for example, people (poor people) who mostly buy fireworks are more likely to buy ice cream from a vehicle on the street.

My wife and I are on my way to go and Purchase what you call a creeper Van but it looks better than most creeper Van's And we gonna get it wrapped. This is a really cool job to me. I’m 24 and I’m really introverted. I’ve been having the worst luck getting a job and mostly it’s because I dread working for people. Always on their time and it’s never enough alone time. I also have kids and a wife so I NEED MY ALONE TIME! I don’t want to be the old grumpy sweater vest dad and husband that doesn’t have the energy to interact with family when they finally get off work from miserable inc. I’m rambling but I think this will be quite therapeutic for me. I’m going to watch this video again but I feel like I’ll have trouble with actually getting what I need to start this. And it’s almost spring already 🤔 but thank you Mr Volunteer for this guidance.

Good video, im going to check out some more. I used to own Ice Cream trucks for a while.
I did notice the white deep freezers in the back. Here, in Ohio, that's against the law. Our health department requires commercial grade stainless steel freezers.
Also, my years of experience with Ice Cream Trucks, this in no way is a 4 hour shift, unless it rains the rest of the day. This is 12 hours of selling alone everyday the sun shines, except for when school's in.

My first icecream truck was a creeper van. Got it on FB market place for 600. Cleaned it out and sold icecream for 3 summers. Average of 800 a night.

I’ve been a kindergarten teacher for 25 years, and have recently been thinking of building an ice cream truck. ( I live in Japan ). Thank you for the information, one thing I won’t be needing is a credit card machine. Everything is just cash here. There isn’t a single ice cream truck in my city, I suppose that’s a good thing for me!. I had an ice cream shop back in Australia, making gelato and sorbet. I might add that to the truck menu as well.

the gahh damn costs up front are not cheap kids. The van, licensing, wrap or graphics.. LLC, insurance, freezers, generator(s) cables, Square POS or such, maintenance and more. Yes you can make some good money but you need $50K upfront.. and if your area doesnt have year round summer like weather, its seasonal and that's maybe $10-$25 K a year. Not much money overall unless its a side hustle.

hey there, box trucks are a no go for me. If you're trying to build a fleet, they can be great, but if you're a single truck owner/operator, you're selling yourself short.

Yes, you need the permission of your local government. Some allow it freely, some want a fee and sometimes an inspection, and others ban it outright.
10 grand a month. Sure if you are in a busy park or at the beach. But on the streets I dont believe it. This will be my 27th season. 22nd season in my own truck. And I should be starting next week.

I think it depends on what kind of competition you have, how much the commercial rent is, and whether or not there is a heavy regulation and red tape. All based on location. Makes more sense for us to be mobile here
