I really like this video, its very useful and to the point (I use a similar method but in Notion instead). A quick question: How many Anki cards do you do in a day? Do you try to finish all your reviews due each day? Comparing this to the Anking deck, recalling info from each card would take considerably longer, ofc fewer cards, but learning more from each card will also require more repetitions per card). I'm considering using anki, I have used it in the past, I like the spaced repetition, but many times I found myself only able to get through the reviews and not to new information/cards. How do you manage that with this method?
Thank you and great questions! 1. I do about 100 cards each day, if you manage to keep the number of cards low, and consistently doing it everyday, that pretty much about the number of cards per day. If you are behind, it can be accumulated and turns to be overwhelming. When that happens, review new cards and slowly add the old cards to make it manageable. 2. Yes, I finished all of it everyday, again, as long as you do it consistently, its very doable 3. True, it is considerably longer, but it is more effective and not necessarily longer. I will address this in the video next week. But i will give you a little spoiler: space repetition has a weakness, and that weakness is, its only as good as how you input the information in your brain from the first place. If you put the information effectively, even one card that seems long, will require less time to do. Again, I will address this in my video next week! 4. I answered this in point no 1 , you review the new cards first, and add the old cards slowly to make it manageable (again, its better to not get behind by doing it everyday). I hope that answer all your questions!
Definitely! Although you need to realize that anki is a way to memorize and retain knowledge, however, when you are a resident, you are not only learning the knowledge. You are learning "skills". The skill to obtain information from patient, relay information to patient and family, how to show empathy, how to make sure they understand the information by providing explanation the way a layman would understand, to be their ambassadors, while at the same time you need to protect yourself legally, and there is so much more. So when you become a resident, I would like people to shift a little bit from focusing on getting knowledge, you need to acquire the skill as well. Hope that makes sense!
Can you please provide us with your pre made anki deck cards i know its all supposed to be personalized but it'll be really helpful

Is Anki also helpful for keeping your knowledge as an IM resident or attending? Thanks
