I just Purchased a 2023 TRD Off Road no mark up. I live in Kentucky. I have always wanted a Tacoma TRD Off road. I sold my 2016 F150 FX4 to purchase a new 2023 because I really wanted the 3.5 V6.
I have owned the TRD off road for 2 months now and it is fantastic

Wish this was the case in my market area. All TRD sport or OR are in mid to upper 40’s with a few in the low end; while SR5’s are mid to upper 30’s. Couldn’t justify that much more if all I really needed was a V6, LB, and towing capability with some added tech for safety.
Better suspension, locker, more off road capability would’ve been nice. But not for the prices I’m seeing in FL/SE market…Oh well.
Great channel btw - very passionate and helpful.🤙🏼

Wow, ok then in my personal case I disagree. I got my 2022 with just 7128 miles on it with the Xp predator package for 28689.
      In mint condition.
So I feel like I made out for what I'm using the vehicle for.
Maybe in the future, I'll upgrade to the off-road if my needs change. But for now, I'm feeling good about the purchase.

Bought mine back in July TRD off road SB. I didn’t like the chrome so I’ve started to black it out lol which most of of do. I got it for 42500 but with the mark ups and gap insurance came out to 47500. I’m happy to be part of the taco club. I’ve been out in the foothills and mountains already with it (beginner trials because I’m new to this) I can’t wait to swap out the suspension and lift kit. Such an amazing truck. Thank you for all ur videos bro keep it up hopefully I can get the chance to do what u do on RUclips and help fellow taco drivers out.

You can escape markups by simply telling them NO when they tell you about market conditions or adjusted costs or dealer markup. You have to be willing to show them you are serious about buying but you just won’t pay anymore than msrp. The price is already high and the dealer is already making money by not haggling so why give them your couple of thousand dollars when you could use that for rent, aftermarket tires or a new I Phone?

While working overseas I ordered a 2016 TRD Sport, access cab and long bed. It was delivered from the factory in San Antonio in mid December. Now, almost seven years later, I love it. But in hindsight, I would have been better off to get the OR with Access Cab. Since them, I have put the Pro skid plate, steel steps, black grill, color m
atching tonneau cover, all LED bulbs, and swapped the hood with another OR owner to get rid of the hood scoop. I hated the scoop, it really limited vision over the nose. 99.9 of my time is spend on the road, so the few time I get down logging roads what I have works great.

    • @westcoastplinkin6559
      @westcoastplinkin6559 8 месяцев назад +1

OR with Access Cab in the US is hard to find. I would absolutely agree that an access cab is so much better. I'd rather have the 6ft bed rather than the 5ft bed but still maintain the overall length which I think is perfect.

It looks as if you modified this truck with the trd pro suspension and grill. Also, skid plate change along with wheels and tires. I didn't get the premium package. I don't need BLM or parking sensors. My 18 was premium. I removed the bumpers and replaced with steel. I agree with the offroad being the best option. Not necessarily the premium. Sunroofs can leak. I no longer blast music, so JBL not important. About to install stage 4 icon with method wheels and bf Goodrich km3 tires.

Bought my 2023 TRD Off Road in Lunar Rock last December for 44k MSRP. Came with some decent options. I think the Off Road is the best package for its purpose- off roading. Checked out the SR5 Trail Edition but is was way overpriced for what it had. You are basically paying for looks. A poser version of the Pro IMO. I think the SR5 with 4WD (not Trail Edition) is a good choice for a every day work truck. The Pro is for show offs. I’m one of those guys and wanted the Pro but wasn’t willing to get raped with a 5-8k markup. Having to pay MSRP was bad enough since until now I have never paid MSRP on any vehicle in my life but it’s crazy times right now. Looking back I agree the Off Road is the best bang for your buck and happy with my choice. Get your 2023 before they are history because I think they will be instant classics once the last one is sold.

Great video and I agree. I have a SR5 (4x4, V6, SB, tech pkg) that was a pandemic buy. Only 1k short of a base OR. After typical newby mods the SR5 still runs short of the OR in the mountains. I have brake fade on hills (OR has hydraulic brakes), 4x4 is limited with no terrain modes and no rear locker. My SR5 is still a beast with upgraded tires and shocks, but I hold back on dirt fun. I admit, I stay on the bunny hills while the OR/PRO fo play. Haha.

If you don't do rock crawling , then any Tacoma with an automatic transmission sucks big times and in reality Tacoma was made to have a manual transmission with that amazing 6 speed gear box and that smooth gearing ratio . Most people doesn't even know what they are missing out to begin with .I own a Tacoma trd pro manual transmission and a landcruiser .

    • @thefactor6909

There was time when all I would own is a manual . Now I’m at a time in my life I don’t enjoy working the clutch non stop in bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis Personally I don’t think the auto sucks. I had very little gear hunting with my 23 TRD and learned the sweet spots and how to drive it which to me is much easier then constantly shifting gears especially in traffic. I’ve recently got a Overland tune my truck since lifting and going to 285’s . Amazing power now and no gear hunting . Just my 2 cents and my opinion but for me shifting with a manual would suck big time :) and wouldn’t make up for any positives it might have other then to say I got a stick shift that they didn’t make as many of and are hard to get .
