Laura I love your recipes!! I always loved to cook, but when I watch your videos I just feel like cooking all the time! I already made many of your recipes and my family loves it!
I’ve made this so many time and I prefer veg stock to chicken stock but a bright white wine is the way to go. I’ve also taken to adding artichoke hearts in with the capers. So good, so fast
WOW! Made this tonight! I am 16 and it was my turn to cook. Usually my food does not impress my mom, but this recipe did! She wondered where I got it, and I told her "RUclips of course" Anyway I didnt have fresh garlic, so I used garlic powder and it worked great. Also we did not have fresh lemons so I subed in lemon juice which also worked. I placed the fish over white rice btw. Thanks so much for your recipe!!!
I don't use Telapia I was told that it is not healthy , but I used dove flounder fish. it was delicious. I didn't use flour. Just one to thank you for sharing your cooking videos they are fantastic. Iam learning lot with you.
Good recipe, tilapia is a very neutral fish so it takes seasonings well. Viewers notice, you can buy red or white wine with NO alcohol, use same ratio as recipe, and you can drink it, do not buy cooking wine.
Hi Laura. Can you please share with us how to roast a whole fish in the oven. I have tried it and it hasn't worked out. thanks.. loving you all the way from Namibia.. :-)
Clean the fish then wrap it in several layers of newspaper. Put the whole thing in a big bowl of cold water until the paper is soaked. Lift it out, let the excess water run off then put it in a hot oven for about 25 minutes. As you peel off the paper the skin often comes off with the paper. I have cooked whole fish like this for years. Delicious. Try it!
It's not going to be the same flavor. Also with something like tilapia a lot of the flavors are just going to get lost in the red wine, because it's much stronger.
nothing wrong using red wine, it just makes alot of difference....red wine just dont go well with fish, chicken....this is why people dont drink red wine when eating fish or chicken, they drink white wine cuz the taste of white wine blends well with these meat. Red wine goes with pork, lamb and beef.
I kinda think it makes more sense to do the fish and the sauce separately and then add the fish back in to simmer a few minutes before serving. That way the ingredients in the sauce are mixed well and the butter/ lemon doesn't just soak right into the fish. :-)
I tried this yesterday an she's right about moving the fish. I ruined mine some by moving it too quickly. It still came out amazing and flavorful. My husband loved it. It is now in my weekly rotation. I made it with vegetable rice and a mixed salad. Yummy!!
Tilapia is SH fish. Farmed Tilapia is fed Pig & other farm animal SH. Use Sole, Cod, Barramundi Trout Salmon or farmed catfish. Tilapia in the wild feed on algae, but on farms they are reared on corn or soybean meal. However, when no other feed is provided, they will eat “poop.” There have been instances where fish farms in Asia were found to be feeding poultry, sheep or hog manure to tilapia.
Who Muhammad? If u r speaking abt Prophet Muhammad then u are lying that he drank wine... So does the bible prohibits: Habakkuk 2:5 - A man is betrayed by wine Luke 1:15 - John the Baptist drank neither grape juice nor wine. Luke 12:45 - Christ warned against drunkenness.
Made this today with flounder. Didn't have veg stock or white wine, used red wine. Added mushrooms too. Sooo amazing! I was scared of cooking fish until this recipe, thank you laura!
@searstower75 I know! I tried to look for the measurements on the website but couldn't find them either ;( but i tried my best to guess the measurements and it came out great! ;)
Gave this recipe a try. Was easy to make and turned out really tasty. I even got compliments from my wife and children. Will now be part of our week night lineup of recipes.
I like it over a thin pasta, and then whatever veggie you like on the side. I make the sauce separate though which is then used for the pasta and fish.

you can make the sauce after the fish is done, just keep the fish warm and wok fast. so therefore have your mise en place ready
unless that was sarcasm, your knowledge on Muhammad is laughable.
