  • Transitioning to a plant based vegan diet and finding kale a bit hard to get used to? This salad will help you to fall in love with kale. You will like it so much that you will be cleaning out the grocery store's shelves of all the kale you can get your hands onto!
When you massage the avocado, lemon juice and nutritional yeast into the kale it makes the kale really soft. It also makes it easier for you body to digest because it is breaking down the strong cell walls and making the nutrients much more available. Another benefit of massaging the kale is that it takes away a bit of the bitterness that is hard for people to get used to when they first transition to a plant based diet.

Love the new set!! Thank you for specifying Whole Food Plant-based when you refer to your meals as Vegan choices usually have salt oil or sugar in them. Educating the wfpb sos community, one family at a time. Thank you for all you do and share!! 🌱🤩💖

I feel blessed to have accidentally found your channel on you tube today. I have started my plant-based journey last week because I am tired of waking up with body aches every morning. I am 43 years old and I want to have more strength as I age.

Fantastic. We are the same age and I can tell you that it works! I feel better than I did at 30 years old🤗

I'm with you! At 44 I was resigned to age achy thinking it was normal. Three days after eating oatmeal in stead of my favorite three eggs for breakfast I woke up with no joint pains! I found this awesome channel and others to know what to eat in stead of animal products and hope to live long and healthy life free of medication.
Transitioning takes time, but it is so worth it! Good luck in your personal journey!

Tried this correctly for the first time yesterday. I was putting an entire lemon and not spritzing the Braggs with one bunch of kale for 1 serving. Tastes much better when done right. Delicious!

I made this with flat leafed Lacinato kale, and crushed a couple of walnuts into it. Absolutely delicious and I wasn't prepared for how filling it was. I'm stuffed and satisfied.

Best salad ever!!! It was absolutely delicious...I added the onions like you suggested and then added some black beans with tortilla chips that I made from corn tortillas (like you showed in one of your other videos). Thanks so much!! You make plant based eating so easy!!! ☺️

In my "Caribbean/Creole" version of this I use lime instead of lemon, one small minced clove of garlic, and sprinkle dry-roasted sunflower and sesame seeds generously at the end and mix them in gently, when it's all massaged and ready to serve. Try it some time! Gives an extra crunchiness and flavor. :) Also I find it more satisfying to resist diving into this delight right away after you wash your hands and shove it into a fridge instead for nice cooling before eating. But that's just me. :) Btw, I adore you and your food channel. Thank you for all the hard work and preparation that goes into filming these fabulous vids and all the great tips! You are making this world a better place!

This looked good so I made it for my mom for her birthday dinner tonight. I thought it turned out fantastically, but she wouldn't even try a bite because "I don't like kale". 😡 Oh well. More for me!

I am so in love with this salad. Tonight I added sliced strawberries! I have been eating it daily practically...for a week. Is there any reason you can't make enough for two days, massaging it with all the goodies, and split it in two. One for today and one for tomorrow? Thanks!

Not sure if it's been mentioned but getting the right kind of Nutritional Yeast is important to many. I have the mutated MTHFR gene and synthetic vitamin B's are a big no for me, however there are a few companies who don't use the synthetic vitamins in their yeast. Just passing this along for any viewers who might be concerned. Thanks for the kale salad recipe. Love it!!!

I do something similar but add liquid aminos, roasted garlic, and shredded carrots (used to add garlic infused olive oil too but am not using oil much these days). I premix all the toppings to make a kind of guacamole and pour that on to kale that I've streamed for just about a minute or less (to avoid massaging with my hands), mix in a bowl with tongs and put in the freezer for 10 mins or so to chill since the kale is warm from the steam. I took a shot and tried freezing the leftovers recently since this doesn't keep at all; to my complete shock it tasted the same when defrosted!

Is this raw or cooked? My bag of kale says to boil it and google says it can inhibit the uptake of iodine by the thyroid if eaten raw so I'm a bit lost here.ahah

This is a raw salad. Kale is great cooked too and I believe there are even more nutrients available when you do. This recipe is not for cooked kale though.
