You made it! You are now #1 on my "favorite designers" list. I absolutely love your tutorials!! I'm 74 and have been crocheting since the age of 12 and I'm always looking for designs that are "outside of the box". I have made almost every design that you offer and my 3 granddaughters love them. Thank you so much for your generosity and sharing your talent.
This is an amazing pattern. I didn’t have a chunky yarn so I used two strands of a #4 yarns in a misty blue. I’m older and don’t like how hats look on me but this chunky hat is great. I will definitely be making more for gifts. Being shut in at this uncertain time gave me a big boost for my mental health. Thank you for a great pattern!
I want to make it but in #4 weight so I'll just make the brim longer and adjust the number of stitches. Thank you for the video. I donate hats and need to use my yarn stash to make them so need to use that #4.
Very pretty, you make it look so easy. I’ve crocheted for years, but it is always fun to find new patterns. I rarely find third stitch use patterns. Thanx for your lesson it is easy to follow!
Thank you, this is a very lovely hat and great tutorial easy to follow. I just made this with Yarn Bee Soft and Chunky in color soft pink, very pretty.
The slip stitch looks so good but it takes me forever to get it done one day maybe but for now sc lol you make it look so easy your a better person than I am lol
Love the Caron cake colors. Love the texture. Very interesting! I may make this for the Christmas at sea charity. They give hand made items to people working at sea over the holidays.
Your patterns are terrific! I was wondering about those children beanies with the oversized pompoms. I'd like to purchase one. Also, I've looked through the hat patterns and made a couple (I'm fairly new to crochet). But are there more if you subscribe? I'm being fussy bc all of yours are beautiful, but bc I'm fairly new I'm looking for something easy yet somewhat detailed without trying to get overwhelmed with a difficult new stitch. Thanks for the tutorials, definitely a follower!
In the written pattern, I think maybe row 10-11 doesn’t mention using the third loop for hdc and my beanie came out “wrong”. I’m afraid to unravel it because I used wool but I mean, still looks like a hat just missing that third set of horizontal rows. I ended up with about 52 stitches in the round and questionable joins. I find it difficult to space the stitches evenly when working brim-up even though the finished look is quite nice.
I’m definitely going to try this pattern. Thank you for posting and for being so clear. May I ask where do you get a nice upholstery needle holder like the one you have?
I would ensure that you are using a bulky weight yarn and that you have the proper gauge. The finished measurements are 21/22 inches for the circumference
Because the size of the hook is related to the thickness of the yard. It doesn’t change. You change the size of the hat by using more or fewer stitches.
Mine turned out fine around the brim, but adding 50 hdc stitches and working off those made it flare out greatly instead of gently slope inwards towards a cone-like shape. So I ended up with a beret. Disappointed. So I tried again. Undid it all, started over. Same result. Doubly disappointed.
@@deek6913 yup. I mean I didn't start the decreases until the video told me to. If I ever did it again (doubtful) I'd start the decreases much sooner. Maybe even immediately after the brim, by just one stich per row until I got higher up, then catch up to the prescribed amount of decreases.
I had trouble right after creating the brim. I could not find what loops you were referring to join the edges . therefore could not complete. I was very frustrated!!!!!! I hate when I waste my time.
I feel your pain. Let me tell you that, when it comes to crocheting into a brim of a hat, stitch markers are a must! After you complete every other row of your brim, add a stitch marker. That way, when you're done with the brim and need to start on the main part of the hat, you will know which stitch to consistently crochet into. And when you finish a row of the brim that you're gonna put the stitch marker in, make sure that you crochet a little looser on the last stich since that is the stitch where the stitch marker goes and that you will crochet into after the brim is done. Hope that's not too confusing. Hope this has helped. Happy crocheting. 😊
I appreciate that you have a close view of your tutorial, so it makes it easy to follow the stitches. Thank you!💕💕💕
You’re welcome! I’m glad it makes it easier for you :)
I made this with 4 weight and just added two more sets of rounds 3,4 and 5. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the sharing your tip! I rarely have bulky yarn so this helps me a ton. Thank you!

Also, need it for a female and chunky or yarn 5 weight only.
I finished my hat, but it doesn't look anything like yours. Yours is beautiful.
Very nice hat, and nice and quick to make! Thank you!!
Nice hat! I love the look of half double crochet third loop in a hat. The brim looks fantastic by the way. It's what caught my eye first thing.
I love the look of the third loop also - it really makes the texture pop :)
Love this hat. Making one soon. Thank you
Beautiful, I think I can do it, need to get some yarn, thanks for sharing
Love this hat

I was wondering the same thing! That would save the armrests on my sofa! 🤣
Absolutely beautiful 😍
This is a great hat tutorial, thank you so much!
How many inches of rim for a toddlers beanie? Thanks🙏🏾🙏🏾👌👌
I love this. Wherever did you find your needle holder please
Hi Sarah!
I have to make this for a friend and need some help! How do I make it for a 25 inch head?
Very nice
Joanne Martines crochet
Ty.. U made it look very easy..ill try this
Are the front post stitches supposed to stack or offset each other?
Why is it that some people don't like the slip stitch for the brim? Why do you prefer a SC or a HDC? Just curious as to which is better than another.
Why at Row 10 are video instructions different than the written instructions? Does this effect how pattern turns out???
Very good
Nice 😍
How would I make this smaller for an 8 year old
How to adjust to children’s size please?
Can I use a 4 weight yarn with a 5 mm hook? Or will that make it smaller? Any recommendations?
I would love to know the answer, I have the same question.
Yes. It will be smaller
Where can I find a crochet pattern for a man with an extra big head
Is this for a kid cause I tried to fit it on my head and 16 inches is way to small? A normal adult head is between 19 and 21?
I would ensure that you are using a bulky weight yarn and that you have the proper gauge. The finished measurements are 21/22 inches for the circumference
How come they never tell you what size hooks to use for different sized hats?
Because the size of the hook is related to the thickness of the yard. It doesn’t change. You change the size of the hat by using more or fewer stitches.
my hat got super small by the time I got to the 3rd "work the 3rd stitch"
I had the same problem. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong.
@@sammyjo286 I tried it again because I figured I must have messed up somewhere, but it still came out looking like a yamaka
Me too. So it ended up being for my baby nephew, lol. It was supposed to be for me.
I made this but I think I crochet too tight
Hi, Is this hat for a lady or man or both?
Niceeeee, is this hat Unisex?
It can be :)
Mine I feel turned out bigger than yours...
I think I use my yarn loose that's why..

@@lizgander9172, even with the decreases each round? Hhmm. I may with this exact yarn.

At 12:00 mark,it looks like you skipped a stitch, and it's making me confused.
