I am 55 years old and I wore the 8 Track of Blackfoot Strikes out in the early 80's Blackfoot is truly one of the most underrated hard rock bands of all time and Rickey is a living legend.
I'm 56, saw Blackfoot when i was 15 at the 2nd Monsters of Rock, i had never heard them before, but the next day I bought Maurauder, then Strikes the week later, Rickey is my idea of a musical soul, real music, unbelievable voice, and f**king killer guitarist, if you can have a groundhog day that would be mine.
This song never made it to the radio like he said. This song should be one of the best classics played on the radio today. The entire album was top shelf. Rickey is so talented. Always seemed to be one of the good guys.
I’m born and raised in Jacksonville and have listen to these Awesome bands all my life, but Medlocke is by far my favorite. Inspires me still with my own music
I’m also 62 (6/18/1962)!! Saw them the first time in 1977 with Nazareth! I’ve been a huge fan ever since!! I remember someone threw a bottle at the drummer and The lead singer for ‘Naz came out and stated emphatically stated that if another bottle was thrown, End Of Show!!
Rickey Medlocke voice is timeless!🥰 Greatest Southern Rock Band Ever!!💕 Blackfoot is truly my favorite band.💙 Each song written with such soul and spirit.🎆🎇✨ Long live 🎸 Roll n Roll💜💙❤💗 🎶 🎵 🪕 🎼 💿 🎸 🎶 🎵 🪕 🎼 💿 🎸 🎶 🎵 🪕 🎼 Music Everlasting!!!!💞
God Bless You Mr. Medlocke, you STILL can play & sing as from the days of old. So Great to see the latest boys of Blackfoot keeping it going with the Old & New songs alike.
I had the pleasure of meeting MR. Medlocke at a Skynyrd show in Raleigh a couple of years ago. One of the most respected players I know of and a Southern Gentlemen.
I'm only 6 years younger & I too, witnessed the founding members of Skynyrd on stage. Wished I had the opportunity to meet them because 4 months later the plane fell out of the sky. 😥
I saw Black foot. In the 1970s ...I always have. Have there music....Myself being part native American ....and southern soul gets my feet stompin .....Thanks For..the great music
I loved his music way back then and I still love it now. I feel fortunate to have seem him back in the late 80's at a local bar called the peppermint beach club, saw a lot of other great shows there also but that one is one I'll never forget. Great guitar work and the vocals go with the style of music perfectly.
In October of 2016, I went to a particularly great Skynyrd show in CT. Before the show, I was talking to Rick and he asked if I was going to this show. I told him I didn't know anything about it! A month later, I was at BB King's with my youngest son who was born in 88. He only knew Rickey as a member of Skynyrd, no matter how much I told him and played the music! I was extremely excited to see and hear Rickey singing and playing the old Blackfoot songs again, but I wasn't sure what to expect. Anyway, Rickey came on about half way through the show, and it was amazing! I was 18 again and he was playing and singing up a storm!!! The surprise of the night was how he played with Tim Rossi, they were great! His highlight, included here, is Rickey singing the beginning of Simple Man and moving seamlessly into Highway Song. Now THAT I'd never seen before! Good Mornin',, Train Train and all the Medlocke stories, it was such an unexpected thrill, and my son absolutely loved it! After the show, Rickey was telling us stories like only he can for about 45 minutes until his ride got there. So much fun and this recording along with another that's kicking around brings it all back. I don't know if I'll ever see him play those amazing songs again, but I didn't expect that one either. It's a great video and if you like Blackfoot, you'll love this! That Rossi version of the band was fantastic!
Nothing like the original lineup. That band was ahead of its time and it's a crying shame they imploded on themselves because of record company pressure.
@@timhoovermusicman awesome. I saw them for my one a d only time in 1982, opening for Nugent. Didn't know who they were when I got there, but they've been at the top of my list ever since. Incredible band. I gotta thing the term "underrated" applies like a mofo to those guys.
Blackfoot not known by as many as should brilliant albums and even better live Rick medlocke my best all the Rock nRoller what a voice and player KEEP ON ROCKIN 🎸🎸🎸🎸👍
Omg, I love this song to. I’ve heard Rickey say this before about this song in an interview. Actually every song Blackfoot done is incredibly epic. I grew up on Blackfoot. Rickey and the guys are simply amazing. Love love love these guys !! 🔊🤍🤘🏼💀🤘🏼🤍🔊
God blessed Blackfoot for sure. It’s a shame that such an incredible band is so unrecognized. But people like you and me are still here to listen and give thanks to Rickey, the band mates, and Jesus
Rickey Medlocke is a stud. So not only have I seen him sing and play guitar for two of southern rock's best in Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackfoot, never got to see him play drums for LS back in the early days, but have also seen him lead another legendary southern rock band Molly Hatchet. Was going to see Blackfoot open for Molly Hatchet in Kansas City, believe it was 1983 or 84. However 3 or 4 of MH's band left town...! So member's of Blackfoot and MH opened with a set of MH tunes then Blackfoot headlined. I can remember my younger sister saying "that lead singer (RM) needs to loosen up". I just chuckled and said "just wait"! Wasn't my first time seeing them.🙂
Damn, Medlocke kicks some rock and roll ass. This is my favorite song on one of my favorite albums. (Yeah, I bought albums.) And this is a marvelous live version of the song. Thanks, S Juhal, for sharing this with us.
Robbie Russell In the late 70's and early 80's in Blackfoot, he played Hamer's and Ibanez. Both guitars looked just like a Gibson Explorer. The past 20 years in Skynyrd he plays a Gibson Explorer in Korina. Hamer's Explorer copy of the late 70's were VERY popular. Dave Hlubek of Molly Hatchet played them and even Lita Ford played a black one in The Runaways.
@@billgibbons6925 u explained it right, i own a korina explorer myself but yes hamers were crazy popular back in the day even eddie van halen had an ibanez explorer
It’s been over 30 years and I still remember the time she laid by my side. And hell yes I took a left turn on a red lite lord I miss that woman I think about her every day.
Been Rockin Black Foot ever since They came out and I found a video of them back in There first days over in Zurich Switzerland and it's hands down the best I've ever seen that band play that song. I've saw Ricky with Skynyrd twice and my first cousin just sent me 2 pics of him and his wife in Nashville a couple weeks ago and they'd saw Skynyrd and got pics with Ricky Medlock .
Aside from the guitar playing, I love his voice. I first saw him on the Lyve from Steel Town VHS, and his playing and singin got me hooked, and I didn't know shit about Sknyrd's story or Blackfoot. I love that VHS to this day.
Very cool video. Thanks for sharing. I lived in Jersey most of my life, and got to see Blackfoot quite a few times. Rickey is a great frontman. Enjoy him in Skynyrd, but really miss him fronting his own band. Rickey, Jak, Charlie, and Greg are all really nice guys. Would love to see the the remaining guys ONE more time!
My very first concert at Pittsburgh's Civic Arena. 1979 - The original Blackfoot warmed up Marshall Tucker Band. I was 16 and was absolutely blown away !!
Ricky truly great guitarist seen him many times from79 strikes album and many times after joining skynyrd in 96 on the twenty album he came when I think skynyrd needed some fire in the band he can still do it all rock on Ricky still in the pocket!!!
@->Randy Cooke.. I had the pleasure of seeing Mark Farner last July 4th in Palmetto, FL. It was a free outdoor concert in the park put on by the city of Palmetto. For a small town, they put on some great July 4th shows, (Three Dog Night, OakRidge Boys), and FANTASTIC firework display. Mark’s band, American Band, (makes sense, right?) sounded great! And at nearly 72, I could not believe his fitness and stamina! I got a few pictures, some video and sound. If I can ever find time, I’ll try to put together something and post it. It’s 2023 & I agree!

You are very correct! Very underrated
Rickey is the most underrated musician of all time.
True.
This song never made it to the radio like he said. This song should be one of the best classics played on the radio today. The entire album was top shelf. Rickey is so talented. Always seemed to be one of the good guys.
