It's a song about the fight that 1000 Poles put up when they were invaded by Germany in sept 1939 and were outnumbered 40:1 and managed to hold the line for 3 days.
It's a festival, then called "Woodstock Poland", now "Pol'and'Rock". This festival has up to 1mln people capacity and admission is free. This concert attended about 600 k UPRISING was second song. Their opening song ( until today ) is "Ghost Division", you should react to it. It's a great song and the crowd goes nuts from the get go. And, mind you, it's a song about Rommel's Tank Division invading France. The whole concert was of the charts. And after 40:1 song crowd sang Polish National Anthem to Sabaton.🎶🇵🇱
Excellent reaction. From the 2012 Polish Woodstock festival, 550,000+ in attendance. I second nocturne's suggestion of "40:1" from the same festival as well as their opener "Ghost Division." three and a half minutes of nonstop, pounding metal, the perfect way to open a set. The first Sabaton album "Metalizer" (which was actually the second album to be released due to issues with the label) was not based on historical events, but the rest are. Joakim and Par had written a song (Primo Victoria) that they felt needed more impactful lyrics than they had been writing and made the decision to write about the Normandy invasion. They enjoyed the experience as both a history fans and it became the bands' theme. They do have one interesting song that is not based on history called "Metal Machine" where the lyrics are made up of song titles from other metal bands.
A mouth ago we had 79. th anniversart of begining this heroic, however tragic uprising, which ended with 200,000 civilian casualties and 17,000 killed insurgents and 19 000 of Germans, and all city was devastated in 80%. This uprising lasted 63 days, and Polish people fight without great support of alliance. I am not going to judge this, bacuase who the hell am i to judge decision of people, who lived in this fucked up times, which was World War II. But the most important is to tdraw conclusions, that this tragedy never happens again. The more so that in Poland we are brought up in the cult of the Armia Krajowa (AK) and we practically never criticize it, which unfortunately does not bode well for us.

Sabaton are awesome! And yes, most of their songs are based on military history from all over the world. In fact, many of their official music videos are basically minor documentaries, with extra text telling the history that the songs are about! The name "sabaton" comes from the word for a medieval type of foot armor. Basically plate armor that goes over the shoes.
All their songs are about historical people, wars, things that happened during wars to some people like if you haven't already check out night witches and make sure you watch the animated story video. The last sentence about what the commissar did always gets me.
Actually...you should take a listening to their opening song Ghost Division from the same concert. Well...when you have over 500.000 in the audience singing with you, of course its ging to be epic!
