      Yeah exactly that. 2 feeds a day an regular maintenance you aren't going to have much of an issue. But try and get 12 feeds a day in and a diff story. Cheers dude 👍😊

    Hey, I think for most the intended use is good but if you want to look for finer detail and step it up then they can trouble you. Think another issue though is us! we want everything super clean nowadays, the sight of any debris or muck and we go straight to thinking problems which isn't the case, that said muck that is in bio chambers isn't good. Could it be bypassing 🤔 maybe only a slight gap somewhere 🤔 just a thought. You may have seen I've removed the micro k1 from my Eazypod on my 5k indoor for brushes and couldn't be happier. I simply couldn't keep up with the cleaning and subsequent water changes!

      Yeah there's nothing getting through that shouldn't, I knew how bad it gets when I emptied the media out of the other one. It's just the complete lack of ability to get the rubbish out the annoys me. The design works with a moving bed as that media isn't going to hold it , but from a bacterial point of view you just don't want these low flow collections of debris if it were easy to clean it wouldn't be so bad. The drum works wonders. I can't see myself ever going back to the always style system and the endless cleaning they need when trying to feed decent levels. 👍😊

    Hi mate, personally i think putting alfagrog in the nexus is going to be a nightmare to keep clean, trying to divide the outer chamber is going to be tricky to as the water enters from the bottom in a 360 degree inlet so not sure how you would go about changing that.
    With dirt settling in the outer chamber, I had this issue when using 80/90 LPM air pumps, I used a borescope and with 175 - 200L of k1, even though it looks like its moving like crazy on the surface, the K1 from about half way down the nexus was hardly moving and was all staying in the mid to upper level of the filter, I changed to 130L air pumps and the K1 goes right down to the floor now passed the air ring due to the current and anything settling down there gets stirred up and moved on, it's better for it to get sent back to the pond and collected again instead of just sitting in there, al the best.

      Yes it would be with how that is, If i managed to split it I would be a small k+bed, but like you said it's working out how to get the water outlet sectioned off. I run a 120lpm on the indoor one for that reason as half the bed wasn't moving , solved the motion problem but still getting that collection, which is why I then swapped to 16 off airstones. Think it's one of them, just gotta accept it's an imperfect design. Just no way of cleaning it properly full of media.
      Cheers for commenting dude 😊👍👌

    Totally get about the nexus, even the 320 is the same and cleaning is a nightmare. They never thought about maintenance when designing. The airline tubing is even harder to replace and made all the harder by the tight space you have to work with. Airline feet keep the air flow way too high from the bottom and is in my view a major flaw. Still, the bio end once it matured is really good and have found that the shower needs more maintenance than the nexus even with a pre filter. Just like the nexus, the fine crap builds up and festers bad bacteria. Not sure there is a filter system that doesn't have a down side and would agree that a remodel for the nexus would be in order for the price is costs. As I personally think the price for what it is, is a bit OTT. On a side note, the grow ons look like they have put on massive size and can't wait to see how the two foods performed. Very insightful as always,keep up the super interesting content 👍

      @OrchardKoi  4 месяца назад

      Yeah spot on Terry. I couldn't agree more about the price they are not cheap bits of kit, and cleaning that outer ring full of media is near impossible. And yes the airline to get to is a nightmare, can imagine it's even harder on the 320 being bigger. I think the 320 media capacity is far more realistic for a moving bed and would work so much better. Once you're mature you are laughing. Cheers for the support as ever Terry, really is appreciated 👍😊

      @@andrewmalone3073 yeah I have 16 airstones in the indoor one, it hasn't solved this issue. It's not an issue if you aren't pushing food so much😊👍

      @@andrewmalone3073 I've recently done the same and seems to have overcome the issue with settled dirt on the bottom. For the price of it, I think it is something that should have already been looked into and resolved IMO

    Just cleaned my nexus outer chamber today. It took about 5 hours and as well as being ridiculously dirty it too ages to drain and was full of a million of the EA bomb ball that don't fully dissolve😅

    • @OrchardKoi
      @OrchardKoi  3 месяца назад

      5 hours. WOW. That's not manageable regular maintenance having to get past all the media to clean it out. They really need to improve the drain size to assist with cleaning. 🤣🤣 Gotta love jelly balls. Cheers 😊👍

    if your outer chamber is getting muck in it, then your drum is not doing it job.... or there is a small passage where all the water dosent go through the drum

    • @OrchardKoi
      @OrchardKoi  4 месяца назад

      Hey Tom 😊, the drum is doing its job in removing all the large solids, but anything under the size of the drum screen will still get through. The more you feed the more of this you'll get. If you could have a drum screen that didn't allow small particles to pass you would effectively stop the water which you obviously can't do. What ever method of mechanical filtration you use you will always get this to varying extents. If it was easier to clean the outer chamber it wouldn't be a problem. When you are feeding up to 12 times a day this debris collects quickly. Not so much if only seasonal/light feeding . Cheers for commenting 👍😊😎

      @@OrchardKoi the drum should collect all the fines, what micron screen is your draco. I have all my ponds on solely burtons drums as mechanical, and they are crystal clear with 0 fines. it will either be the screen like you said or turnover

    • @OrchardKoi

      @@TomWood14 70 micron so it will catch everything up 0.07 mm which is tiny but anything smaller will carry on through -it still collects over time, an the more you feed the more it collects in the bottom . It's like a very very fine mulm/sand. Whisky the chamber is empty it's not too bad to clean , but full of k1 got no chance.
