A sequel of the highly praised action adventure game from 2017. In Hellblade II: Senua's Saga, developed by the Ninja Theory studio under the wing of Microsoft, players once again take on the role of a Celtic warrior named Senua, suffering from deep psychosis.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - an action adventure game from 2017. The game was developed by the authors of the original, i.e. the Ninja Theory studio, whose portfolio also includes such titles as Heavenly Sword, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and DMC: Devil May Cry.
The action of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II takes place after the events told in the first part. The main character of the game is once again the titular Senua, a female Celtic warrior suffering from psychosis. The protagonist finds herself in 10th century Iceland, where she has to face tyranny and the darkness that lurks both around her and in her mind.
In Senua's Saga: Hellblade II we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The adventure takes us through various locations based on real places in Iceland. By traversing them, we push the story forward, meet various characters, and face opponents. From time to time, Senua also has to solve environmental puzzles.
During combat sequences we must demonstrate not only agility and reflexes, but also perceptiveness. In order to defeat an opponent, we must discover his weak points and gaps in defense, and then use them against him. Among the enemies, we will find both rank-and-file adversaries and much more powerful enemies acting as bosses.
Senua's Saga: Hellblade II runs on Unreal Engine 5. The game features an atmospheric soundtrack by the music band Heilung. An important part of the sound layer are also various hallucinations heard by Senua, recorded using binaural sound technology.
