Not even in the slightest and I've played all these games. The last of us is light-years beyond those games in every possible way, except hellblade 2 has insane graphics that judging by this trailer, looks like it's going to put last of us to shame if it launches like this. But the gameplay sucks in those 2 games and tlou is just so much better playing in every possible way.
In the developer diary of the first part they mentioned that Melina (the actress for Senua) suffered depression or something similar herself and she apparently uses her work on the game to deal with that, by putting those feelings into her acting. This is another reason why her immersion in the role got me to tear up several times on my several playthroughs of the first part.
@@dradis1 there’s no way. I believe it’s on the Unreal Engine 5 and as far as I know, I didn’t experience any bugs and glitches in the first game. This game has been in development for 4 years and I’m sure they still have 1 or almost 2 years in development. I hope I’m wrong cus I really want to play this game asap 😂 but finished of course 😅

Hellblade is a slap to most AAA studios who are unable to create any meaningful experiences anymore, All their billions and worldwide studios are focused solely on pleasing the investors and upping the stock price while small studios here and there are breaking boundaries every year.

Everything you say does not actually translate into a good game and the last game is trash people are hyping it up this game is overrated the team is going to flop because they’re trying to make this game too complicated in the story Plots. But like the complexity in gameplay and immersion, For honor basically took its combo system simplified it I made it more sophisticated. This game focuses on everything except for actual gameplay. They should just be an animation studio
Well, actually… I hope the faces get an update till release (which I’m sure of since this seems to be very early proof of concept footage). I think TLOU2 did an incredible job with the in-game animations of faces and this is a bit behind on that front, at least from what I could make out on Senua through all that war paint. But again, I’m certain many technologies aren’t in their final state at this point in production.
Scary knowing that this is the gameplay, in the same way the first one blew me away cause back then I couldn't believe that I was playing a game that looked and felt so cinematic.

It’s a shame we didn’t get this full sequence in the final game. That beginning segment where Senua stands in the ritual circle went hard as hell. “You might see me as weak, but I will show you what lies behind my eyes.”
It's mind blowing how this is gameplay,, so cinematic and upping the 1st game in more ways than I had even conceived! This is gonna be an amazing experience and I am certain we all can't wait to sink our teeth into this!

I have never had a game move me and reshape my understanding of the world like Hellblade and I have never experienced a more moving character than Senua. I look forward to the sequel. These types of games are giving movies a run for their life. We have heroes like Senua and Master Chief from Halo. Who has time for movies when we have games. Ninja Theory is just incredible. XBox/PC gamers are incredibly fortunate to have a lineup like this.
I have been waiting for the second game to release since the announcement back in 2019. I attempted to play the first game in 2018 (I think) and I made sure to do it justice. Dark room, headphones on, a few dabs later, and I found myself sinking into the skin of a wet, forsaken land, unsure of my heading but ready to trust my protagonist's intuition, and then the voices started... The web of whispers clouded my judgement, and before I had even made it past the waist-high water, my heart was banging, my mind shrinking in. I tend to fall in love with intentional chaos, but I have never been so immersed in a medium where I forget why I love it. I was truly speechless, utterly captivated, and above all else terrified of what I was experiencing. It was unlike any game or really any story I have ever experienced, where my emotions didn't result from personal motivation, but rather a primal instinct to retreat at all costs. I will say I didn't really get a hang of the combat until I reached the bridge and so for the first two bosses and all their henchmen, I struggled a bit. Add on top of all that slashing, kicking, and screaming, all the thrusts of rage and dodging of regrets, all the violence and adrenaline, I also had the raw art direction, the stellar lighting (or lack thereof), the explosive soundtrack, and of course... the Voices. I fell from up high, in both passion and trust, and found myself looking in the mirror. It was during the combat I realized the brilliance of utilizing the disorder for gameplay mechanics. The intuitive nature of the sound direction and wonderfully performed voice acting took control of my own head voice, and I found it hard to concentrate when the stress overwhelmed me. When I finally ran to the tree and found my four new paths to choose, I was weighing the possibility I wasn't ready for where this story would take me... and that excited me. It had been so very long since a story truly overwhelmed me. And sure, I would bounce around from story to story, medium to medium, searching for greatness, which I found many times, but it all paled in comparison to this painful joy of a video game... A VIDEO GAME!!! I was already compelled to tell stories, but this truly gave me a direction, more on that later. I compared my options and decided it wouldn't matter and set off...into...darkness... It was like she knew better, or rather knew other, and perhaps more. I listened eagerly, yet couldn't stand the sound of her laughter. The following events led to a tired, exhausted, worn out Nathan removing his headphones, turning of the Xbox, and going to bed, or at least I tried to. Those VOICES stayed with me for months, creeping in as my voice of defeat, agreeing with my doubts, and all in all, being unpleasant house guests. They eventually went away, but I can easily recall to this day the sound of that women's voice in my head if I try. I don't know how long the game actually was because I avoided spoilers as much as I could and so if I had to guess, I think I made it half way. I never picked it back up because I didn't have it in me to try to give myself over to the experience again... and then I found out there was going to be a sequel. I was beyond floored. Like dude, I'm practically ceiling. And so, here we are, close to the end of my promise, to wait for the release of the sequel, to finally finish the first game. I am definitely ready, very scared, and extremely excited. I hope that you, Ninja Theory, stumble upon this post because I would love to thank you directly for how far you have inspired me to dream. I have dedicated my life to crafting my very own imperfect masterpiece, and it has given me both purpose and direction. For anyone else reading these words, thank you for being interested and keep striving to better yourself every day. I look forward to the day I can share my stories with you all. Her sword felt real and heavier than mine, And so I thought I'd help her shoulder the weight. How foolish was I to think anyone can help anyone but themselves.
The Vocals as the title card come up right when she says “I know you” gives me chills because it’s a snip from Just like Sleep by Passarella Death Squad, the song that plays in the final battle of the first game.
Nothing prepares you for this, I cheered, I shouted, I fist-pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It’s absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be.

I decided to play the first when trailer for the sequel dropped at TGA in 2019. I never heard of the first before then. I was absolutely blown away. Hellblade 1 is in my top 5 games of all time easily. I can only imagine what having Microsofts budget for the sequel will do throughout the whole game. The first was only made by like 27 or so people. It’s insane

This blew my mind! Absolutely stunning. Hellblade was, and still is, the most gripping and emotionally moving game I have ever played, so I'm super excited to see where Senua's journey takes her now. The thing I love about Senua is that she seems so...human. Her strength isn't found in her bravery alone, but in the fact that she's clearly afraid...deeply afraid. She's scared, confused and driven...and she drives through those fears. She pushes through, despite them. That's what makes her such a strong female lead. Not wokeness, not a silly haircut, but her undying fortitude, to continue on...even though her hands are shaking and her knees are buckling! THIS, is how you create compelling characters. Thank you Ninja Theory. 🙌🏾
Couldn’t agree more. My worry in the sequel was that they would change her as a hero so much, and she would be different and not as human as we know her and more of a game charatcer and she seems to be the same Senua we know, just in a leading position. So excited

Freaking amazing, the transitions between taking control and the in game cinematics are ridiculously good. I just hope it doesn't do it as often as this section, curious to see how the combat has been handled
i mean this is more than likely the opening sequence/set piece of the game which (especially extremely narrative games) tend to either do this or theyll have you slowly walk with another character while they talk about something which i would rather prefer this than the half hour of walking through Jackson as Ellie with Jesse and then Dina at the beginning of TLOU2, even Abbie's start had a similar thing happen with Owen. I get its a "tutorial" to learn the new movement mechanics and sets the tone regarding the fact that the characters and story are the main focus but they could do the same thing with a cutscene imo and i dont think it would feel as slow.

Just finished downloading hellblade 1 literally not even 5 minutes ago and was watching reviews and stuff cause I haven’t heard of it before or anything and was just looking for something else to get lost in. Seeing the comments and reviews, I’m beyond intrigued. And learning that a small studio is cranking out games of this quality, while the big name studios just “can’t figure it out”, made me fall deeper in love with these guys. only to find that they’re working on another hellblade, AND IT LOOKS THIS GOOD????? I mean cmon. Devs like these are what (or who?) makes gaming feel so good. Thanks ninja theory, looking forward to seeing what number 1 is all about, big time.
Why buy an XBOX and limit the games you can play when you can get a PC and play all XBOX games and PC games with better performance? Ofcourse unless you can afford the PC

I've rewatched this gameplay dozens of times and noticed some defects: 1. low-fps water splash physic (like in some anime) from 2:11 till 2:33 (while the giant is crawling) 2. at 3:40 the giant slaps a burning man into the ground, then tries to take him and eat (?), but at 3:44 there isn't that man in giant's hand. 3. Obviously unrealistic rebound of spear back from the giant at 4:06, 4:50, 4:58 (It eaither rebound like some jumper or rebound before the touching. Well, what's wrong, the engine itself is named UNreal)) ). 4. A running man in front of Senua lagged at 4:21 5. see how the Senua frees a person from under the rubble at 5:33: she lifts the lowest and, accordingly, the heaviest part of the wreckage to throw it to the side, while it simply could be overturn to the side by holding the uppermost part. Averegly this fragment touches me, im exciting to see this game fully, so I hope the developers will take it to the worthy final state.

These types of games are giving movies a run for their life. We have heroes like Senua and Master Chief from Halo. Who has time for movies when we have games. Ninja Theory is just incredible. XBox/PC gamers are incredibly fortunate to have a lineup like this.

I have been waiting for the second game to release since the announcement back in 2019. I attempted to play the first game in 2018 (I think) and I made sure to do it justice. Dark room, headphones on, a few dabs later, and I found myself sinking into the skin of a wet, forsaken land, unsure of my heading but ready to trust my protagonist's intuition, and then the voices started...
The web of whispers clouded my judgement,
and before I had even made it past the waist-high water,
my heart was banging, my mind shrinking in.
I tend to fall in love with intentional chaos, but I have never been so immersed in a medium where I forget why I love it. I was truly speechless, utterly captivated, and above all else terrified of what I was experiencing. It was unlike any game or really any story I have ever experienced, where my emotions didn't result from personal motivation, but rather a primal instinct to retreat at all costs. I will say I didn't really get a hang of the combat until I reached the bridge and so for the first two bosses and all their henchmen, I struggled a bit. Add on top of all that slashing, kicking, and screaming, all the thrusts of rage and dodging of regrets, all the violence and adrenaline, I also had the raw art direction, the stellar lighting (or lack thereof), the explosive soundtrack, and of course... the Voices.
I fell from up high,
in both passion and trust,
and found myself looking in the mirror.
It was during the combat I realized the brilliance of utilizing the disorder for gameplay mechanics. The intuitive nature of the sound direction and wonderfully performed voice acting took control of my own head voice, and I found it hard to concentrate when the stress overwhelmed me. When I finally ran to the tree and found my four new paths to choose, I was weighing the possibility I wasn't ready for where this story would take me... and that excited me. It had been so very long since a story truly overwhelmed me. And sure, I would bounce around from story to story, medium to medium, searching for greatness, which I found many times, but it all paled in comparison to this painful joy of a video game... A VIDEO GAME!!! I was already compelled to tell stories, but this truly gave me a direction, more on that later. I compared my options and decided it wouldn't matter and set off...into...darkness...
It was like she knew better,
or rather knew other,
and perhaps more.
I listened eagerly,
yet couldn't stand the sound
of her laughter.
The following events led to a tired, exhausted, worn out Nathan removing his headphones, turning of the Xbox, and going to bed, or at least I tried to. Those VOICES stayed with me for months, creeping in as my voice of defeat, agreeing with my doubts, and all in all, being unpleasant house guests. They eventually went away, but I can easily recall to this day the sound of that women's voice in my head if I try. I don't know how long the game actually was because I avoided spoilers as much as I could and so if I had to guess, I think I made it half way. I never picked it back up because I didn't have it in me to try to give myself over to the experience again... and then I found out there was going to be a sequel.
I was beyond floored.

And so, here we are, close to the end of my promise, to wait for the release of the sequel, to finally finish the first game. I am definitely ready, very scared, and extremely excited. I hope that you, Ninja Theory, stumble upon this post because I would love to thank you directly for how far you have inspired me to dream. I have dedicated my life to crafting my very own imperfect masterpiece, and it has given me both purpose and direction. For anyone else reading these words, thank you for being interested and keep striving to better yourself every day. I look forward to the day I can share my stories with you all.

The Vocals as the title card come up right when she says “I know you” gives me chills because it’s a snip from Just like Sleep by Passarella Death Squad, the song that plays in the final battle of the first game.
Graphics and audio are absolutely insane. Almost hard to believe it’s real.

I decided to play the first when trailer for the sequel dropped at TGA in 2019. I never heard of the first before then. I was absolutely blown away. Hellblade 1 is in my top 5 games of all time easily. I can only imagine what having Microsofts budget for the sequel will do throughout the whole game. The first was only made by like 27 or so people. It’s insane

Hellblade was, and still is, the most gripping and emotionally moving game I have ever played, so I'm super excited to see where Senua's journey takes her now. The thing I love about Senua is that she seems so...human. Her strength isn't found in her bravery alone, but in the fact that she's clearly afraid...deeply afraid. She's scared, confused and driven...and she drives through those fears. She pushes through, despite them. That's what makes her such a strong female lead. Not wokeness, not a silly haircut, but her undying fortitude, to continue on...even though her hands are shaking and her knees are buckling!
THIS, is how you create compelling characters. Thank you Ninja Theory. 🙌🏾

Freaking amazing, the transitions between taking control and the in game cinematics are ridiculously good. I just hope it doesn't do it as often as this section, curious to see how the combat has been handled
i mean this is more than likely the opening sequence/set piece of the game which (especially extremely narrative games) tend to either do this or theyll have you slowly walk with another character while they talk about something which i would rather prefer this than the half hour of walking through Jackson as Ellie with Jesse and then Dina at the beginning of TLOU2, even Abbie's start had a similar thing happen with Owen. I get its a "tutorial" to learn the new movement mechanics and sets the tone regarding the fact that the characters and story are the main focus but they could do the same thing with a cutscene imo and i dont think it would feel as slow.

Just finished downloading hellblade 1 literally not even 5 minutes ago and was watching reviews and stuff cause I haven’t heard of it before or anything and was just looking for something else to get lost in. Seeing the comments and reviews, I’m beyond intrigued. And learning that a small studio is cranking out games of this quality, while the big name studios just “can’t figure it out”, made me fall deeper in love with these guys.

I've rewatched this gameplay dozens of times and noticed some defects:
1. low-fps water splash physic (like in some anime) from 2:11 till 2:33 (while the giant is crawling)
2. at 3:40 the giant slaps a burning man into the ground, then tries to take him and eat (?), but at 3:44 there isn't that man in giant's hand.
3. Obviously unrealistic rebound of spear back from the giant at 4:06, 4:50, 4:58 (It eaither rebound like some
jumper or rebound before the touching. Well, what's wrong, the engine itself is named UNreal)) ).
4. A running man in front of Senua lagged at 4:21
5. see how the Senua frees a person from under the rubble at 5:33: she lifts the lowest and, accordingly, the heaviest part of the wreckage to throw it to the side, while it simply could be overturn to the side by holding the uppermost part.
Averegly this fragment touches me, im exciting to see this game fully, so I hope the developers will take it to the worthy final state.
