- Looking for a quick and easy scissor storage idea? How about a diy scissor pouch to safely store your scissors in your sewing box or work box. Whether your a sewist, hairdresser, florist, etc. all of our scissors need to be protected.
In this video I will show you how I create a cartonnage scissor case made from scrap pieces of cardboard and toile de Jouy cloth. This is a no sew project that is great for all levels. Also, you will learn how to create the scissor case pattern. There are many different shapes that you can create. It’s very easy. Sew use your imagination.
You can easily adapt the construction from gluing to hand sewing. If your interested on how that technique is done, please, leave me a comment requesting a video.
These scissor holders make a great gift idea as well. Plus you can recycle unused delivery boxes and left over fabrics with this sewing notion project.
If you have any questions about the techniques used in the video, please, let me know in the comments and I will happily guide you.

I’m Wayne. Pleasure to meet you. As an American designer, I moved to Germany to marry my husband about 13 years ago. Here we live with our beloved corgi Truman ( he traveled with me from the states, someone needed to hold my hand 😉) and our two crazy kitties 🐈⬛ Elvis & 🐈 Lilly. They all like to pop up in the films for time to time, so be on the look out for those ears!

Fabulous video and so well explained, I’ve just subscribed to your channel 👌
Thank you for being here and subscribing ❣️. I am certainly not an expert at video making but I am so glad that you found it helpful and inspiring. It means a lot that you took time to write. Wishing you lots of fun making things. 🧚♂️✨🧚♂️
I just found your channel. I loved the video and the content. It was very relaxing as well as very creative. You are a very talented person and a great teacher. I especially loved how calming you made this video while teaching us how do make this lovely scissors protector. This is what I needed for my scissors ! Thank you so very much. Thank you for sharing your talents. ❤
Thank you for your kindness! I am pleased that you found my little video to be so enjoyable. I hope to bring something new, fun and relaxing to you in the future. Sending you warm wishes 💗
What a lovely video!!! Super cute scissor case. I can get poster board but not the other type of board you listed. I would have to use a piece from an Amazon box! 😊🙂Btw, I wonder if you quilt too. Would love to see you come up with a quilt!!
Thank you! I think using up boxes is a wonderful creative solution! I’ve always wanted to create a quilt, it’s been on my list for years. Perhaps some day I will achieve that….when I do, your welcome to join in, well have a good gab and some lovely spiced tea 🤓
❤❤❤❤❤
Another clever project! Lordy, you've got a lot of shears. Now don't go running with the😂😂😂
Ummm 🤭 I think I may have a problem. Guess I shouldn’t admit that there are a couple more in the cupboard 🙈🙉🙊.
Thank you for this coverage!!! I would like to make something similar, but with a flexible case. What would you use for that?
I would experiment with iron on canvas or something similar used in purse making. Hope that helps
I just found your channel. I really liked that your tutorial is easy to follow . What type of glue did you use?
Hi Elisabeth, I thrilled you found this tutorial helpful. I prefer a PVA book binders glue as it’s archivable, flexible and non yellowing. But you can always use glue of your choice. Hope that helps and have fun making these 🙌
Gorgeousy useful. Where in Germany? Just got back from a month in Sonnenburg. My husband always gets a new hat when we visit
Good morning Beauty and thank you for visiting my channel. I greatly appreciate your support 🥰. I hope that you had a lovely time while here in Germany. I would be curious, as a hat maker myself, what kind of hat the hubby gets. Here in the south of Germany ( Regensburg) I don’t see many hat wearers other than those worn with traditional costumes.
We have visited Regensburg and Bavaria , so beautiful! He gets a proper fedora style with a slightly larger brim, wool felt( I think)- they are always beautifully made. He has a collection 😁 Love your work also. Would be fun to visit your studio
How lovely 😊! I am sew glad 🤓 you two have a enjoyable time when your here. 💙🤍💙🤍
So nice, I’m going to do some cases for all my scissors. What are the buttons at 5:43 and where can I get them?
Hi 👋 Andres,
Those buttons are brass pattern weights, aren’t they wonderful 🤩. I bought them here in Europe but you might find them under “Cohana Pattern weights” online. If your in the states, try a search on Etsy or I think The Brooklyn Haberdashery still stocks them. They come in a variety of colors and are super handy 💁♂️
I am thrilled that you are inspired to make your own scissor cases. They are such a great tool! Thank you sew much for spending some time on my channel, that means a lot to me.
It’s great to have you here and I appreciate you dropping a comment.
Wishing you loads on with your new project!
Best!
Wayne
@@Faeriehood thank you!
Wayne what kind of glue did u use I can’t get fabric fusion or craft glue to work
I used a basic book binding glue but any pva should work.
Wayne is the cloth quilters cotton or duck cloth
Hi Julie, I used regular cotton but you can certainly use anything you would like.
Nice video. Where can I get similar “sewing weights”?
I’d like to know too! I’m loving the scissor holder as well!
Look for Cohana button weights. They are made buy a Japanese haberdashery company. If your in the States, try the Brooklyn Haberdashery. They did carry them in a variety of finishes. Pricey they are… but a solid investment, imo. Thanks for subbing to my channel, I truly appreciate your support and for being here 🧚
@annachioffe6454 Look up Cohana, you’ll find them in a variety of color/ finishes. Theses ones are solid brass. I absolutely love them….wish I would have bought more! 🧚♀️
@@Faeriehoodthank you for this information
I like the scissor holder....but want to hear how...not music.
I’m glad you enjoy the video. But sorry to hear that it wasn’t everything you had hoped for. If you’ll allow me to explain. I choose not to include voice overs in my video and minimize the use of the English language so that those around the world who do not communicate in my mother tongue could enjoy the videos equally.
I have struggled with the idea of using language in videos and I am still very much undecided. Perhaps that may change in the future. I do value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to comment ❤️
your video isvery blurry
Hi 👋 Erlinda, I am sorry that you had a Blurry 😵💫 viewing experience. I just checked the video and everything seems to be working fine. Often, due to my connection, videos appear blurry on RUclips 😢. I invite you back to watch again and thank you for choosing my video! I do greatly appreciate it. Wishing you a wonderful day- Wayne
Very nice. All of it. Lovely to experience. And an inspiring helpful tutorial. I live in a remote area and not sure I can access the materials, but I want to try. Thank you
Thank you for being here! I greatly appreciate your support and glad that you are inspired. You can use any firm cardboard, cereal boxes, scrap fabric, etc you have. I just happened to have these materials on hand, that’s why I used them. Happy crafting! 🧚♀️🧚🧚♂️
