So she meets one person in the relationship, decides they are the victim and that's her final decision
That's happens all the time and not by experts. This woman is biased af and doesn't seem to care too much about the man's side when it is an alleged man on woman violence.
With therapists they are honorbound to believe in their clients and work with what they tell them, however she undeniable is taking a very biased approach with this testimony.
@@Flowerhag In treatment you are correct, you are supposed to take what your clients say at face value, unless they have some sort of narcissistic or antisocial personality disorders. However, as a forensic psychologist, the job is to bring facts and science about the personality -and possible trauma- disorders of the people implicated, and correlate that to what's being alleged. In this case, she definitely should've met with JD, and she should have done several psychometric tests just like Dr. Curry did with AH, after she met with JD. Her testimony is incredibly biased, lacks scientific foundation, and honestly sounds a lot like gossip at least in my opinion.

Nurse here. If I ever had any inclination that my patient is going through abuse I would write it out in DETAIL using exact wording the patient is reporting but also separating that from my personal observations of the patient. This is so sketchy that you see a giant empty box where it indicates to the tester to describe what happened in DETAIL, and in patients own wording! If I saw someone else’s work like this I’d seriously question this persons work ethics because it is AT BEST lazy but AT WORST, incomplete and NEGLIGENT
Nurse here too and agree 100%, that was my first thought when i saw that. Ive worked with people who do things like this and its usually laziness and just lack of care or take no pride in their work. For an expert/professional of her level that is very surprising to me and especially since she knew this was gonna be such a high profile case! Youd think she would have made sure everything was done 100% by the book. I would be embarrassed if my documents looked like that in court or even just at work.
At the very least she should have written 'please refer to document x dated y' so there is context for why nothing is put in there. Each document is stand alone when viewed so you cannot just leave important boxes without relevant inormation if you don't at least link to an associated report/document. Surely Dr Hughes was aware this was for a court case so should have been EXTRA careful when dotting the i's and crossing the t's on a document. In a (criminal) court in the UK this would be ripped apart by solicitors due to it not being properly completed. An assessment should be able to stand alone as a complete document. Other assessments/documents can be referenced for additional information and context but each should be able to stand on its own merits. She's paid $500 an hour to produce this? Jeez, I'm a non-qualified Healthcare worker and I'm paid £12 an hour by the NHS to produce a higher quality of documentation. Clearly I'm in the wrong business!

At best it’s lazy, at worse it is negligent and completely does a disservice to the client because you are interpreting their expression, and not giving respect to their words and experience. She is very selective in what she reports what her client says, that is unethical. Just so sketchy I really doubt her professionalism

What drove me crazy is Heard’s psychologist said multiple times in her testimony “Amber truthfully stated…”. She seems incapable of considering whether Amber might have lied to her during her self-reporting.
The fact she has to add the word 'truthfully' in my opinion shows her need to convince people, if she really trusted the statements of Amber, why would she add this word?
She said "I HAVE A VERY GOOD MEMORY AND VERY GOOD RECOLLECTION"
She also says "I CANNOT RECALL WITHOUT MY NOTES"
It's quite telling that she believes everything that Amber 'tells' her and then when she actually hears the audio she says... "if" it's true.

The lawyer should have immediately asked her "If"?!?!? Was this Ambers voice yes or no?! Why would she challenge the authenticity of the audio tape?!? Maybe because Johnny recorded her this time?!?...
He really missed more than one real opportunity to shed a really big spotlight on all those inconsistencies, lies, her bias, her unprofessional and subjective aproach,...

As a licensed clinical therapist who worked in a residential crisis center for people with thoughts of hurting themselves or others ANY time I completed a scale using a different time frame I ALWAYS indicated that in my clinical note her administering a test but not indicating this is writing is extremely disturbing. If you didn’t write it in your notes it didn’t happen!
She wasn't acting as a therapist though. For an evaluation, it wouldn't be needed.

Medical notes are legal documents. Have to be done correctly.
Same for nursing. If it's not documented it's not done. It's legally part of the patients medical record and must document accordingly.

And totally non bias. Which says alot. I've picked up more things the 2nd time around. Missed quite alot of stuff. And everytime you watch it you catch stuff you missed.
I am trained to administer many standardized tests. You are supposed to follow them precisely. That’s why they are called standardized. 🙄 another professional may only see that form. It’s supposed to pass what is often called “the stranger test” meaning a stranger would have all the info they need.

@@michelledean6850 because she dresses raunchy, and acts trashy & when you do that you are inviting the sexual attention! She didn't just invite it, she brought it home when Johnny was gone! My daughter & her beau were having issues with guys out in public ogling her! I said maybe watch the exposed cleavage baby! Problem solved! She started dressing honoring herself, & she got the same response! Her beau was able to go out in public with her feeling like he wasn't going to have to brawl half the guys out there! Not all guys ogle! Some give an admiring look & move on!

Diagnosed CPTSD survivor over here, this entire case has been incredibly triggering for me and I can’t help but notice the similarities between amber and my abuser. The things she said, the way she reacts to Johnny on the recordings, even her facial expressions are so similar to the way my abuser would react to me. He would always accuse me of overreacting or exaggerating and he never “hit me that hard” or “if you try to tell anyone I’ll just say it was self defense”.
I felt so powerless and really believed no one would believe me if I spoke out.
Victims DO NOT react like Amber, they react like Johnny. Even though every DV situation is different, the behaviors are almost always the same. Which sucks because I really wanted to believe her and support her when she first came out. For some reason I just couldn’t get behind her like I do with every victim, there were just way too many red flags. But her nail in the coffin were the recordings for me. A victim would NEVER speak to their abuser like they EVER especially if they were concerned of being hit. People seem to forget physical abuser literally will not start without emotional/mental abuser has already taken place. Abusers well wear you down till you’re completely isolated with no self esteem, THEN they hit you. We need to remember it’s not the act of hitting that the abuser likes, it’s the total domination and control they have over their victim.
This is why so many were able to pick up on Amber’s red flags and why the public opinion shifted. Most of us who have actually been the victim can see right through all her lies. She manipulated us the same way she manipulated Johnny which is why we’re all angry. She should be charged criminally for her past actions. What she did is NOT ok and she made a mockery out of all the work victims and advocates have done to raise awareness of the severity of DV. She deserves accountability

& I agree w\you. I couldn't believe when that Dr said that it's false that victims wouldn't yell or start arguments for fear. She said that was untrue & that oft-times victims will yell & fights & pick fights bc they are used to the physical abuse & they get angry. But I've NEVER seen that. I'm not a doctor BUT victims will are being abused to the level she alleges would never intentionally draw attention to themselves & agitate or instigate an argument bc they are afraid. Now there's cases where the women are also very violent & physical & engage in that as well & they aren't afraid. Tho typically in those instances the woman is the more violent of the 2 & the guy is typically the more passive & just reacting. But in those cases I wouldn't describe the woman as there victim.

As a biochemist, I think that Dr Curry is more credible based just on how she explained her administration of the PTSD and personality disorder tests to Amber Heard… Dr Curry described her methods and the language was about what she did generally which means that her methods were repeatable. Repeatability is so important in science!
Repeatability, is the main objective in Psychological Testing and Experimentations for Statistics Calculations too.

The difference between the two is Curry would just answer questions to the best of her abilities.
With this lady, she's manipulating questions asked and statements made, so that they're always going to empathize with Amber. At times she's very sloppy at doing this. You can tell she's walking a tight rope where she's almost, nearly, might be, lying for Amber. This is without even diving into her professional history and how its clearly very biased and she holds an agenda.
Quite honestly, i'd love to see a medical review board investigate her.

I do remember how much they emphasized that Dr Hughes was board certified whereas Dr Curry wasn’t. After this, I definitely don’t think that denotes a higher degree of conduct professionalism. This was like a master class in that notion. What kind of things could come from that kind of investigation?
They are absolutely DEMOLISHING this "psychologist", and as a psychology student with PTSD myself, I am living for it.
Doesn't seem so to me, they ask very general questions with which she can respond with what a professional should respond with, mostly anyway, instead of examining specific statements she made that were drowning in bias.

I think Dr. Hughes testified yesterday that she DID administer a test to look for feigning but she heavily skewed the results to 'correct' for the responses of abuse victims appearing as if they're lying when they're not. That's why Amber scored a "zero". She might have scored higher, but Dr. Hughes then discounted all of those points. This stood out to me because, as a scientist, I know this isn't how you analyze data. There should have been questions baked into the test to account for this. You don't just get the raw score and then subtract an arbitrary amount because of an opinion that a specific client should be given the benefit of the doubt. It comes across as the clinician wanting the score to be zero and making it so after the fact. If Dr. Hughes isn't going to cite actual research showing this is standard operating procedure across her field, it comes across as bias. The test is the test and the score is the score. As someone who made a living analyzing scientific data, this felt off to me. Very wibbly wobbly.
I can't wait for Dr. Curry to get up on the stand and rip apart Hughes' (I can't in good conscience refer to her as a Dr) "evaluations" and "procedures", especially as a PTSD expert
@@Kayrim_Borlan Well, if she has the PhD, she's a doctor, regardless of how we feel about her. As someone who used to work with a lot of PhD's - the good, the bad, and the ugly - it doesn't bother me to use that honorific. It's moot to me. If she graduated with a PhD, she's a doctor.

We've got psychiatrists & psychologists in the chats speaking but I was confused about that bit when she was speaking on Data but said you have to skew it & it sounded to ME like she was stating that you have to adjust for the fact that they are not typically believed or lie. & I was like 🤔 wait what? How do you accurately & scientifically skew data for liars & it be actually correct! Or skew the data for me bias when you're perpetuating more biases. I just don't have much respect or like for this witness. She seems very unprofessional & biased.

If you want to correct for that, you'd bake it into the questions such that the answers would subtract points on their own and anyone could give the test and interpret the results the same way. It's very odd to me that you'd give a test, get a score, and then subtract points afterwards based on whether someone claimed they were abused or not. To be fair, my Cognitive Behavioral research was done more in animals, but we did review these types of things in my college Neuroscience and Psychology classes (I was a Neurosci major) and I've never seen this type of skewing done before, especially based on self-reporting like that. I'd definitely like to know what the accredited psychologists think because it's just odd to me. Doesn't seem like standard operating procedure.
I've been tested and had the test provider report that according to the test I have 0 symptoms and diagnosis. They then compared this to notes from my interviews and hypothesized that I under report my symptoms when tested. (What Dr Curry referred to when she talked about people unintentionally trying to report less symptoms). They talked to me about this to understand how I thought when I did the test. And then they did a different test after they had a talk with me to understand how I thought. They then compared the new test with the old one, and both with my interviews and considered if this supported their first hypothesis. They then did a few other tests after these two and then concluded my way of answering the first test was a symptom in it self and that all the tests together with the interviews indicated a diagnosis. So if Dr Hughes felt like the ms Heard was answering "wrong", she should have given other tests (like Dr Curry) to prove her feeling. Not just correct it (unless the test it self has that as a possibility, which it doesn't seem like).
She reminds me of those psychologists back in the 70s who had people remembering abuse that never happened

Yessss. This was my experience as a kid in the late 70s and early 80s. Took me ACTUAL therapy in my 20s and 30s to recover from that sort of therapy. Scary.

Ben Chew had said that Dennison was the one who did the cross for JD when they did a mock trail to see how JD would be.

It is clear that Dr. Hughes is less of a doctor an more of an activist. It is clear that she picks and chooses the validity of a report based on whether or not it matches her own prior belief.
Ghat's exactly how i feel. I found her very interesting, clearly very knowledgeable, experienced and qualified, but i cannot shake the feeling that she is immensely biased. Looking at her experience, it is very understandable, but it does not matter if that is born from her practical experiences. You do NOT treat a case based on (quantitative) statistical data. Also, the descriptions of her methodology make me want to rip my hair out...
I would be banging my head if I was on this jury. I like how cross is done in movies, just ask 10 questions and then the first time you reach a gotcha moment which i believe happened in the first 3 minutes; the first time an audience member makes a gaffe of disgust for the witness, he should have said uh-huh, then just as the defense was welcoming her they should have dismissed her and said no further questions. You think she's valid, we're not worried about her and we proved it in 5 minutes. So prove it by dismissing her. Sooner than later

No one ever seen it . She always sent pic like look what he did to her. I have dark circles under my eyes and when I take pic it look like a black eye. My mother would say that to me all the time. She tell me to find something to lighten it up cause it make me look like I have a black eye. Another thing is she claim to have gotten a broken nose before going on a show and on that show she scrunch her nose and make faces that if her nose was broken would put her in agony I hit my face on a wall and it left a big purple bruise on my left cheek and I couldn’t smile , frown and god for bid I sneeze I be in tears. She claim her nose to be broken and she make faces laughing smile through the show not even a wince.

In my 20+ yrs of clinical experience, I’ve honestly not seen any client w/ PTSD related to partner violence & abuse of any kind react quite like Heard has up until this point. While there can be wide variation in how survivors present over time & there’s not a “right” or “wrong” way to speak or act, there are patterns of presentation that are seen more often, that’s all. With such detailed & graphic descriptions, especially from Dr. Hughes, it’s not as common to see a survivor maintain a stone-faced & stoic facial expression after hours & days of hearing horrific details of their abuse. I’ve seen many survivors present in a detached & expressionless way, but there is usually a crack that occurs at some point, even if it’s subtle. In the face of day after day of focusing on & describing horrific & graphic details in a public arena such as a court room, it’s common to see some crack or shift, even if subtle. I haven’t seen any shift from Heard yet, except in her dress & hair styles & that seems bizarre & calculating in how she’s mirroring Depp &, at one point, Dr. Curry. If you look at Depp’s presentation over the same period, there’s a detached quality similar in parts to Heard’s, but we see multiple small cracks/subtle changes in Depp’s affect, behavior, eye contact, tone of voice, & more. Many survivors find it more bearable to share about the abuse if they detach their feelings from the actual event(s). It can be protective to a degree, particularly in children, but some survivors continue to present like this for years if they don’t receive any help & support. With that kind of detachment, there is often some dissociating as well, but it’s not as common for a survivor to maintain that same stance for hours & days, & in the face of so many intense triggers, recounting details of the abuse, & while strangers are watching. For many survivors, it doesn’t get much more triggering than what happens in a courtroom. It’s more common to see survivors rush thru &/or skip over details while recounting so they can be finished, & often need guidance & genuine support to be able to slow it down while still maintaining a level of emotional safety. In a person like Heard who is highly reactive emotionally as a baseline - which has been repeatedly presented in the evidence & witnesses so far - those cracks show up somewhere, even if it’s just a subtle change in facial expressions.
The person who looks & behaves most like a survivor of partner abuse is Depp. The contrast b/w the two of them is glaring, imo. Depp presented in a detached way for much of his testimony, but there were multiple, small variations in body language, tone of voice, speech volume, eye contact & more.
I went into this trial wanting to believe Heard as I didn’t know all of the specifics & it didn’t occur to me that Heard could be as manipulative, cruel, dishonest & calculating to do all that she’s done. For someone who has been as cold & abusive to a partner as Heard has been (we’ve listened to lots of audio to this effect, & some video & texts), there is almost always some kind of past abuse pattern. The fact that Depp is 58 yrs old & has never had any intimate partner or other female accuse him of any physical abuse makes it very difficult to believe that he suddenly became this monster when he met Heard. Also, since his divorce from Heard, there has been nothing in the press (that I’ve seen) about other females recounting similar experiences & behaviors from Depp. In over 20 yrs of practice, I’ve never worked w/ any client, male or female, who suddenly becomes a cruel & rage-filled abuser mid-life, absent a significant & profound injury or event such as a traumatic brain injury. In my experience, there has always been past incidences of some type of abusive &/or violent behavior, & more often than not, there is an identifiable pattern. Heard, on the other hand, has a pattern of intimate partner abuse as the perpetrator and cruelty and abusive behavior towards others as well. The math seems clear to me on this though I’m certainly watching the rest of the trial.
I am still on the fence about this trial and all, but these kind of comments irritate the hell out of me!
Whether she is lying or not, people commenting about how "In my years of (insert field here), I have never seen a victim react like her! This is not, real victim behavior!"
This is so damn harmful and ignorant to suggest a victim must behave in certain ways to be believed, and I'm shocked someone in your field would say this. Amber is guilty, that much is clear, let the evidence take her down, not some bullshit regarding "Real Victim Behavior"
@@yorozuya1992 - All I said in my previous comment was the truth as I have experienced, not that it was true for all survivors & certainly not that survivors have to fit in to some defined mold to be believed. With every abuse survivor I’ve worked with, I always emphasize that there is no right or wrong way to process the trauma or to speak about it formally or informally. There can be a wide range of feelings, behaviors, facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, & more, & it’s critical to look at all of the factors that relate to a client’s trauma, & not make sweeping conclusions from isolated parts. I thought I made that clear, but if you got a different message, I apologize for not making my wording more definitive.
Going forward, I’ll be more cognizant of what I’m writing, & try & make sure I take extra time to proof & edit any comments before posting. I work very hard to not make any comments that would trigger feelings of shame in any of my clients who are survivors of trauma.

She can’t. The CAPS-5 test is the gold standard test for PTSD. It’s THE test that the VA uses for evaluating our service members when they have concerns of PTSD and other similar mental health concerns.
It's also a structured interview. She would have to perform this psychometric test in a very specific way because that's how it was validated. The way she performed the test does not seem appropriate, unless there's something I'm missing.

While I worked there, I was a part of a committee that addressed how “disruptive behavioral situations” were addressed, so I got a pretty in depth education on testing that was used, techniques for de-escalation, actual patient ‘take-down’ techniques, and a bunch of other stuff. It was really fascinating. Kind of made me regret not going into the field when I was much younger and able to do so.
I saw a video at the end of her testimony she quickly puts a thick green folder in her bag and then only hands over individual pieces of paper, shouldnt they have received the entire folder?!?!

Depps psychologist accepted his lawyers' word that she had borderline at depps dinner in his home, b4 even assessing her for the job to oppose AH..that means both dr hughes and depps psychologist ( who wasnt registered or apprived by the board of psychologist at the time), could both be invalid? I’ve been researching the FULL recordings (not just the deliberate clips used in court) and there’s one recording that JD himself took (you can hear amber is on speaker phone and his voice is the one present in front of the recorder) and in that phone call he tries to set her up by saying, “I lost a finger man!” And she says, “what are you talking about? You cut your own finger! When you busted the phone!” And that’s what she testified to on the stand (on day 15 or 16). Johnny Depp was my first male loce as a little girl and I will always love him. Im sorry im that way but I can’t help it. I used to have either the Cry-Baby or Edward Scissorhands VHS playing for me to go to sleep. My mom even rolls her eyes when I ask her about that cuz I used to scream and cry if I couldn’t have “my Johnny” to go to sleep to. So my love for him is deep lol. But I can still be UNBIASED! It’s SO obvious that AH is GROSSLY over exaggerating the events and JD is GROSSLY minimizing his involvement in the abuse. And even IF he never touched a hair on her head, he’s already guilty of mental, emotional, and psychological abuse from what we’ve heard from the tapes submitted into evidence. I do have to note that women with certain borderline personality traits (I say women as I don't know any men with it) can get very very over-attached very quickly. Especially to therapists.
You can imagine why. Here's a person - a therapist - who really seems to care about you and doesn't judge you in any way. You experienced a lack of love and caring, or perhaps severe abuse as a small child, and it damaged your ability to form healthy attachments. This can mean you're starving for that validation, approval and care, just as a small child seeks approval from adults.
In theory, Hughes should have been prepared for this as she says she's more clinical than academic, she does work in trauma, and certain early life traumas can result in a person developing a personality adaptation.
However, if she didn't think Amber had cluster B traits, she may not have been as careful as she should have been. I've experienced an intense desire to protect friends of mine with BPD because of the way they interacted with me, and I've had to be incredibly careful that I didn't end up fighting their battles for them. It's a similar feeling you get when you see a tiny, scared kitten.
This may sound weird, but it's basic transactional analysis - like if someone acts like child, you may start acting like a parent in response, or if somebody starts patronising you and treating you like a kid, you may respond like a child.
This is so common a phenomenon that sometimes, when there's a person in need of therapy who has BPD, three therapists may work with the client in rotation in order to prevent this over-attachment. There's always one therapist monitoring the other two.
As far as I can remember from what I was told, one therapist treats, one therapists rests from providing the treatment, and one therapist monitors. Then they switch places.
This may be completely irrelevant to this situation - we don't actually know whether Amber has BPD and HPD (although we know the scores on the MMPI-2 were consistent with that, according to Dr Curry) and we don't know if over-attachment happened. I'm just saying it can happen.
She only needed her notes to refer to the factual information. She was able to recite the slanderous subjective events thoroughly. Clearly, she came to sling mud.

As a survivor, what Amber did by contacting her therapist after an incident, _DOESN'T_ mean she was seeking therapy as the victim. With a _VERY_ smart ABUSER (who's trying to cover their tracks), it's NOT uncommon for them to schedule appts, talk with friends/family, to try to make themselves look like the "victim," when they know damn well, that they were actually the aggressor.
I get that most people won't understand this unless they've been through it, but in cases where somebody has a history of being the Abuser, it's _not_ uncommon for them to get smarter and smarter with trying to cover their tracks and create their own narrative for later on down the road, when the relationship ends. Manipulation is key with a lot of Abusers...

We know Amber Heard is scrappy and a survivor. Apparently her childhood was awful and she was able to survive and even push herself into a good position in life. I distrust that she had no help doing it, but it's still incredibly tenacious to tackle Hollywood at 17. What I find incredulous is her account of not knowing anything about Johnny Depp. Lol. She's working on being a professional actor and doesn't know one of the biggest names in Hollywood? Nah.

She/Dr ignored the main standard tests which showed the diagnosis (PBD/HPD) or lack there of (PTSD) claiming results were normal, & put through her own checklists which were inappropriate

I've had this same question in mind since she introduced herself as having testified in 50+ cases. If this is how she presents in a huge high level case, how many other cases has she swayed with her bias and negligent work? How many other victims have been punished for daring to stand up to their abusers because this psychologist decided "board certified" means more than ethical evaluations.

Even a call back to WHERE you can find the information in her notes, date & page, at the very least is necessary but THAT is the lazy way. It’s absolutely inexcusable for her to have left those blank. On the LEFT she’s supposed to be answering how *often* the patient is having the symptoms. When she testified about giving a lecture to the local bar association she used the verbiage the victims as her or she. Ever time and that had nothing to do with this case at all.

One thing to remember is that for cultural reasons, men are much less likely to report domestic violence against them from a woman and are also much less likely to see a doctor about it if possible to avoid that.

The cross was brilliant. He excellently pointed out the discrepancies in her testimony and left it open ended for the jury to decide. So, like how we all were able to pick anomalies and her bias toward Amber, Jury are also like us. Also, he sometimes become more slow and stumbles to chose words carefully, which ultimately puts a good question. He was polite and didn't give a bad impression to Jury, unlike Amber's lawyer. Also, I think he was trying to make Dr. Hughes comfortable and carefree. Because too attentive means better planned answers. It's amazing watching Amber's lawyers before that they didn't have a single objection(other than that compound one lol) here. That's what a brilliant cross is.
That's why I love Dennison. He gets the facts into the light and lets the jury decide. It's the kind of education I like.

I don't think she spoke to Amber at all, or at least not much about PTSD around the time that assessment was conducted. I'm wondering whether perhaps Heard's legal team realised by late 2021 that there wasn't an actual, solid assessment to measure Amber's supposed PTSD, went "Oh, shit" and went to Hughes to fill out the forms which she did poorly on.

She used stereotypical gendered terms all throughout her definitional testimony. Not once, when defining terms, did she use gender neutral terms. The only time she implies a man can be a victim of IPV is within a same sex relationship. So she still seems to imply that only men can be the perpetrators of IPV, even if their victims are also male.

If you're referring to the 2009 arrest, it's because no charges were pressed, her Partner at the time said it didn't happen and that Amber was falsely arrested and in 2011 there was a request from her attorney to have her arrest erased from the records since she wasn't charged (apparently that's something you cancdo in Washington state). So as far as the courts are concerned it didn't happen.

NEVER EVER did I hear someone first stating "this is my diagnosis" & THEN tries to find the right puzzle pieces that strengthen her *guess* while at the same x "ignoring" relevant & related other statements/ additional or descriptive information [sic]!

Replay Crew 🇦🇺: Hughes is not only unprofessional as an expert witness but as a psychologist. In tests like these, questions are asked multiple times, in multiple ways to check for continuity and malingering. That she dismisses a question because "it had already been answered", or because she was just doing part of it to check changes since the previous time is, frankly, contemptible - administer the test properly or don't claim to be using it. Clearly, Hughes manipulates her "clinical notes" to say what her employers want her to say.
I believe Dr Hughes gave tests to prove her hypothesises "PTSD" and "Non malingering". Vs Dr Curry allowing the data to determine the diagnosises. Cross wasn't as good as It could have been but I believe Dr Hughes helped JD more during her direct.

@@Cafe_Es_Bueno You're right - the cross wasn't good at all, he could/should have made it clear to the jury just how unprofessional she had been and, therefore, how unreliable her testimony was - they can't assume that the jury will just know that. Frankly, though, he was brought in because he's their expert ay handling expert witnesses so he probably just didn't know how to handle the fact that she hadn't testified as an expert witness should.
@@HandmadeDarcy Agreed. Many people are saying that they will recall Dr Curry. I feel if that is the case, they could have made a stronger points of challenges that Dr Curry could give credence to. They are placing a lot of assumptions on the jury.

Started watching this on accident popped up while I was scrolling about. My first thoughts was "oh another celebrity with $ trying to buy their way out. Went into watching this thinking JD was the one lying and he probably did hit her. But then something in his testimony and his mannerisms struck me as extremely familiar. It stood out as I seen this behavior before and his discription of his childhood and why he certain traits and habbits in which he deals with such a childhood was clear description to exactly what i witnessed in my mothers behavior . I am not a psychiatrist or a law student but i am a child of a mother whos mother acted exactly the way his mother did. My grandma would throw things at my grandpa while he sat in a wheelchaor blind with aputated legs and would shout hirtful words at him and he calmly would set me on his lap and softly say to me just ignore her and then woukd taljk to me about whats on tv or tell me jokes. My mother had that same ability to ignore the ranting behavior of her mother no matter how cruel she got. I always knew something was wrong about the situation because everyone acted like these things were normal. I knew because my mom was nothing like her raising me. She too once said she knew how to be a mother to me because all she had to do was be opposite of her mother. My mother like Johnny always looked at herself like they were nothing special and didnt need or want the center of the room attention. Very shy and much like him her children and family was everything she cherrished us. Nothing was ever about her it was all about our kids happiness. I sensed as a kid that the way she went out of her way for us was nice but a tad abnormal almost like she tried to fix her childhood through us. What truly hit home was his need to escape moments that felt like escalation of tensions. If anyone in the room even raised their voice during a conversation you could see my mother escape in what we called the ostrich mode. Which to us meant she would calmly and quietly leave the room to hers where she would lay down and watch tv and become very distant for days. Only long periods of a quiet calm atmosphere would emerge her from her ostrich behavior. She too took care of her mother till she passed even tho my grandma was very verbally cruel and hateful. When i got older i asked my mom why she was so kind to her when she was so cruel and she said to me that she always wanted her mother to treat her with love amd kindnesd and unconditional love but she never recieved it so even tho it hurt her heart just being near her it filled her heart that she was capable of giving what her mother couldnt.. it meant alot to her to do the right thing regaurdless to her mothers behavior and the only time my mother would stand up to her by raising her voice or respondong to her behavior was my grandma stepped over the line with my brother or i. My mom suddenly lost that shy girl that tolerated the abuse when us kids were in grandmas rage. What was always shocking to me is my mother would even handle that situation with decency. She wouldny loose her temper it just wasnt in her. She would would just suddenly speak up and say "thats it! Its time for you to leave!" The n she would hand my grandma her purse and open the door for her. She kept what she said limited and never ranted just a simple Leave and a look on her face that said the children are off limits. That strong protective parent behavior JD sounds known for to me also sounds like my mothers distinctive ptsd symptoms. Miss heard like my grandma was known for that hot cold behavior where anytime you encounter her theres a few moments of silence as you survey for what the mood for the day was... was it day that a simple hello triggers the ranting? Just never knew what wild accusations she would have or when and honestly my mother had that quiet way of dealing with it that I had the hardest time 7nderstanding why when she is a grown women, married with child did she take it and never display to her how hurtful it felt. My mother like JD also was perscribed opioids for her back pain and never understood how addicted she was to them.. i am actually floored by how i assumed he was guilty and lying and then was suddenly hit by the astonding familiarity of it all and my gut feeling is acts like someone like my mother who couldnt bring them to hurt someone even when they deserve it. She was incapable of raising her hand under extreme circumstances as if its almost a symptom to her abuse. When she spoke you could hear her conpassion for people as if she feels their pain... always hated to see anyone unhappy. She was a beautuful tortured soul that wxuded extreme kindness much like ppl are testifying about JD. Generous to a fault. Everything in my gut says he is telling the truth even when its an ugly truth. My mother was exactly like that. While i admired her super sweet kind heart and the way she could only lie when protecting someone else there was always a sense of everthing she did wad pushed by soul that was suffering the torture in every decisio of life. Again im not a psychiatrist but never before have i seen these unique traits i grew up watching in anyone else till now. Makes me wanna just reach out to him and say "i get it!" I understand the pain it takes to fight back right now and what this means to your healing"

When I was diagnosed with PTSD after surviving an attempted murder 23 years ago, I was told it would be a lifelong battle and it is something I live with every day, so I'm totally confused about them saying she had PTSD 3 different times?? What, what??

I completely agree! I’m a Survivor of very violent DV & SA and was diagnosed with ptsd back in 2008, and have been living with it ever since, not at separate times when it’s convenient.

Never ONCE did I hear that "expert" ever say that Amber was DIAGNOSED with PTSD! She ONLY said she showed signs of it on 3 different occasions. PTSD has become a go to buzz word and it pisses me off because I'm sick of hearing stories of people saying they have PTSD because someone took their parking spot!!! @@mkpetersen1607 Absolutely. You never know when or what can trigger you. My whole point with Amber is "I don't believe her." I survived, testified and put my perp away for 25 years in a super max. I also know that I'm the minority in this situation. Far too few women report and to go a little further, even fewer have a successful prosecution, so I KNOW my opinion may not be viewed favorably, but I do not believe Amber and this false narrative that she's trying to make us believe hurts "real survivors" and will keep more victims silent in the future and that's a travesty.
According to Dr. Hughes, she has an “excellent memory” when it comes to her testing and notes, yet not even a few minutes later is snidely saying to the lawyer that she “wishes she had a cheat sheet to look off of too when referring to the testing”. The lawyer needs it because he doesn’t know what the testing says, what’s your excuse Dawn? Why would you need the cheat sheet if you had such an excellent memory to the point where you weren’t even fully filling out your own testing documents because you are smarter than everyone and they should just know that when you don’t fill out a section that asks for details, it doesn’t mean there are no comments, it means there are so many details to list that you leave it blank and that the person evaluating those forms should know to go back through the other sections to piece together what you already said somewhere else. Cause that’s how all of this works, right? 😂

If you pay attention to the first time Hughes was on stand. ..when Johnny's lawyer asked for a copy of her notes, she put a green folder real quick. And pulled notes out one piece of paper at a time
Question about the jury: What happens if a jury member is super expressive and like reacts out loud or their facial reactions are over-expressive? Because I would be sitting there gasping at everything lol
They can be spoken to by the judge or excused from service. That's why there as are usually more than 10-12 depending on the state.

It heavily depends on the judge. Sone juries are quite expressive and others are stoic. Sometimes judges will ask juries to refrain from being too expressive but everyone is human.
I’ve done jury duty. Everyone was quite solemn and we all bonded and tried to be open minded but stoic in the courtroom. This trial was wild though. Sounds like the jury was very good and we can thank the judge in part for being professional and formal with them. Jurors tend to follow the judges lead I think.
I think what makes this witness look so incredibly unprofessional and biased next to Dr Curry is that when she is speaking she uses gendered pronouns, speaks as if she was there, answers questions about the relationship in a way that indicates she was present when she wasn't and in no way attempts to see Johnny Depp's side.
Whereas Dr Curry used neutral terminology, several times indicated as to why Amber would act the way she would and while she wasn't using it to excuse Amber's behavior did indicate that it was a very sad situation. She was very clear when a question was out of her scope and several times went into explanation that the question being asked of her would be inappropriate for her to answer or for any forensic psychologist to answer. She was very clear about the limitations of her expertise.
Even though you can clearly see Dr Curry was hired by Johnny Depp's team she did a fair job at trying to remain neutral.

I hate that I know this all gets worse too. Everything. Everyone. All of it is just an act. It’s just grandstanding and lies. Using fragile people like myself. Like others who lived through this as a means to not only hurt someone else who is going through similar experiences but also take his money for personal gain.

Emily is such a knowledgeable attorney on procedure, strategy, tactics and basic lawyering things.
I'm totally against abuse in any manner or form toward women, men, children, and animals, but something is not right with this woman. And the expert testimony I liked from the get-go was from Dr. Curry. She was more professional and detached from emotions to some degree whereas the other expert was too involved emotionally as a family member or friend would be. Of course psychologist care about the welfare of their patients but not to the degree of this nurse. When Amber started crying, the word that popped in to my mind was the word "feign". I'm an empathetic woman but something just doesn't sit right with me. Ms. Heard, undoubtedly, needs healing and so does Johnny, but I still say it again, that if anyone was abused, it was Johnny Depp not her! As far as the drugs and the liquor they both abused themselves. But Johnny was abused by Amber!

While watching Amber Heard, I felt like I was in a movie. Pauses, recoveries, emphatic story telling, and complete face wipes then restarts when given the go ahead. She also has contradicted her own testimony so far. 1. "I only did drugs with Johnny once". But she reports taking MDMA on a plane with him and taking shrooms in the desert. 2. "We gave her drugs" Why would someone who reportedly is anti drug claim that? I've also noticed that she's always the savior in her stories. At the Caravan campfire, SHE saved this random girl from the clutches of Johnny. It wasn't his bodyguard, who testified that he stepped in to move them to their caravan away from people. If Johnny is getting grabby with all these random women, threatening them, tell me why they aren't reporting it to tabloids for fat cash? So many inconsistencies.
@@Juliettee1061 I think what Amber really doesn't understand is that the lies will catch up with her and she's receiving so much negativity from the public, so much so, that she had to fire her old PR staff and hire a new ones just to make herself look like the victim. Johnny just wants to clear his name, and don't you think he knew that all this junk would be brought out whether it was about her or him, but he's risking it because he's innocent and he's trying to clear his name. Doctors and therapists don’t believe their clients like they’re saying. You can believe their perception is real to them. A good clinician requires proof, hence assessments and collateral. The psych witness is weak sounding. Very interested I Dr. Curry testifying again.
It is surprising a slew of her therapists would just take her word for it that she was so beat up. Where there's no Energency Room evidence no recordings nothing.
compared to Dr. Curry this expert psychologist is pretty unlikeable -she really seems angry and as if she has a chip on her shoulder.

How can AH sit and listen to all the abuse on audio and by witnesses for weeks and not cry and then 2 seconds on the stand she is in tears - pls pls pls tell us a jury would notice something like that?
Witness commented that she could determine who was the abuser in a relationship, by only hearing one side of the story! Shocking!!! Clearly a biased witness who came across to me as someone who hates men in general...

My brother-in-law is a metallurgist and corporations hire him as an expert. Even though the lion’s share of his work can be in his examining a failed device, and then preparing a report of his findings, the lion’s share of money earned comes from his expert testimony at a deposition and then testifying in court. Why? Because making himself available for several days of travel to a deposition, and then possibly traveling at a later date to a specific court and then testifying in that court usually takes many more billable hours than his initial examination of the failed device and generating a report of his findings.
