Snake kick is very good indeed, had zero fights and did that to my coach with loads of fights and a few belts and it worked. That teep setup seems very fluid, I'll start doing it in my shadowboxing and try to get it flowing.
My MMA coach taught me that snake kick ( 3:37 ) my second day and its been my bread and butter since, works so well if you throw a couple of hard low kicks before to get them checking, then they're on one foot off balance and get blown back by the teep. Beautiful
@@pollen1253 I do, I just didn't spar that particular week because I'd aggravated a lingering injury earlier and knowing myself I'd have made it worse in a spar.
If I may share, a really good "combination" I've found so much success with is ---- Step jab -> Step back -> (Insert your favorite intercepting shot, preferably something that goes straight)
Yeah so good. Personally instead of something straight I like to throw a russian style check hook, scooting both my feet and whole body off centreline. Mainly cause one of my coaches has (according to him) ended careers by timing their step, and crashing in with his own spear elbow to the eye socket with the momentum of both fighter's steps.
Nice combos. I really like same leg same arm front kick to step in jab. Rear hand cross lead and double it up.. Front round kick step off to dart in cross. Wonderboy Style jab step off to cross.
How do I master timing? It's the one thing I seem to struggle with the most, it's really hard to time someone when you're actively fighting them for some reason
learn how to "control" the fight and take initiative Floyd Mayweather despite having great reflexes can time his opponents not just because of his reflexes but because of his ability to take initiative the fight against Juan Manuel Marquez is a great example
As a muay mat fighter, your knee combos really showed me that i can easily create the high guarding situations with my confident hands to create openings for my less than confident knees. Instead of always looking for hamds now i have a nice way of visualising knee opportunities to the body. Fuark.
would appreciate an advice for the first combo. would the jab hit because the push kick range and the jab ranges differ thus when you fake the teep, can the jab land?
Hi Gabriel, do you know why certain techniques work better in MMA than kickboxing? I notice rear leg 'front kicks/ mae geri' are more common in MMA (Tony Ferguson, Sean O'Malley, Conor McGregor), whereas in kickboxing the lead leg 'teep' is preferred. Is it the stance used in each sport that dictates what works better?
the lead leg of mma doesn't pose much threat in mma, they use it less because of how close you have to be to land it. rear legs have way more threats like a roundhouse, ? kick, teep bc it can land at a safe distance. in MMA, strikers always have takedown defense in mind. that's why they don't stand too tall and keep more distance than KB/MT
I'm an assistant MMA coach, the reason we're not flicking out that lead leg like a jab is mainly cause it's easy to time a takedown off of it (even without a catch you're not gonna sprawl in time if your front leg was just in the air). Plus, the striking distance in MMA is a lot farther (again due to the inclusion of wrestling), so if you're gonna reach them with it you need to base off your front leg not your back one.
I AGREE TOTALLY. GOOD COACHES ARE VERY HARD TO FIND (just like a good shrinck) most coaches over complicate. They end up killing the nature of the athelete
just a question about martial arts gyms. my friend wants me to join her tang soo do class. should I, or should I try and learn boxing or some kind of grappling?
I was in ur spot. Got kneed in the nuts, went to the hospital and it took me 2 months to recover. Sleep, eat healthy food for nutrition, and relaxing. You need to avoid junk food so your body has more resources to heal with
Hi, I'm new to the channel and to boxing/kickboxing. I used to wrestle in high school and really miss the competition and atmosphere that competitive martial arts has, I still have at least a few more months before I'm ready for a real fight but I can't decide between kickboxing and boxing... which do you suggest I try or how do I tell which I should do. For reference I'm 6'4" and 230 (probably will cut to 215 ish) speed is probably my weakest point btw
Who does this guy think he is. He is acting like some type of kickboxing worldchampion. He can’t teach me anything i train UFC and when i see red its over for my opponents
you train UFC? guess what pussy???!!! I train UFC, Bellator AND PRIDE!!!! What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
Perfect timing. Can't wait to spar tonight

It works a lot for me. Surprisinglu I never knew it was an actual technique. I just started doing it because people would catch my kicks.

Our instructor actually had us practice the first combo you mentioned last week. I think I'll give it a try in sparring tonight.
Try everything your instructor makes you practice when you’re sparring! Thats why he’s showing you! Test them out and experiment with them

01:06 awh man you said the most Canadian thing ever (that's wholesome though)
This is perfect.I'm not bad,but last time was horrible. Cant wait to try out some new things

Awesome combos and thanks for mentioning me!
Your fake is on point 👏
I love your moves 🥰❤️ I will try to lern them ❤️
Now these are amazing for sparring, will be sure to try, and practice the snake kick, the most of all of these
2:20 that sound effect lol
perfect timing
Great stuff. Thanks for this!
I'm happy to see I'm already doing the snake kick. ^^
I've been using the last one for a couple of months now, works everytime.
Great video. I’m gonna watch it a bunch more times 🎉
Gabriel is truly MVP, this is one of the best videos of his and of all youtube
Gabriel.. you never fail to put out good content. ❤❤.
The jab reset body hook has quickly become one of my favorites
Can you pls do a vid like this for southpaws? Thanks.
That snake kick is so amazing and it’s nice to see other people actually using it, I thought I was alone lol
Nice combos. I really like same leg same arm front kick to step in jab. Rear hand cross lead and double it up.. Front round kick step off to dart in cross. Wonderboy Style jab step off to cross.
Great video 💪
thanks man!!!
You bet!
Love this. Gonna try in my next Sparring. Thanks champ!
i had the question and you just answered in last part wow
certainly will practice these tommorow
Your vids are the most helpful on this app
Amazing stuff!

Drills give u skills pad work and what not
Keep sparring.
more sparring for sure bro, timing is also space, remember that.

High level stuff right here
Gabriel Varga, master of the pelican position 😎🔥 I thank you for this slick combos, I will incorporate them into my sparring today 🥊🥋
More please!
Outstanding
Awesome flow bro 🇹🇭🙏
I love throwing out teeps so I'm trying that first combo next chance I get. Great info as always!
Dude dropped 2 of the combos I use all the time
Nice! Apparently we both know our stuff 😉
I hope you find at least 1 new combo you like.
How to land more of strikes more specifically punches
love your content. respect from India
Some gold tips there Gabe.
Im glad i found your vids again, lost you for a sec 😂 thank you for the tips
Love your content Gabriel. Could you do Southpaw-specific combos? 🙏🏾
Not really a combo but something that works for me a lot is, while hand fighting, feint the cross, bounce in and out, then fire the cross.
My coach used to call the snake kick the Michael Jackson kick. Shout out to coach carter ❤
Gabe, can you do some body shot defense + counters? I'm tall, people usually go for the body so I'd like to at least make them think twice.
Are the long combos more for coordination building rather than for realism
At the gym I train at, we went over the Snake Kick a couple times..just never had a name for it lol
What do you think of the bang muay thai combo number system?
I usually do as southpaw ; jab , hook to body, hook to head then roundhouse kick or cross to stomach. Does that work in competition ?
I had a friend snake kick me to the groin. I can attest to its efficiency.
Hilarious 😂

That cross to knee reminds me of Saenchai, except he goes for the overhand.
would appreciate an advice for the first combo. would the jab hit because the push kick range and the jab ranges differ thus when you fake the teep, can the jab land?

Go with your friend. It will help with the whole process until you know enough to make a new decision.
thanks, I emailed the instructor a while ago and he said that I could watch a class while he teaches, thanks for your advice!@@malkomalkavian
I wanna spar so badly again but taking these few weeks to recover from a nutshot acquired during sparring, any nutshot recovery tips? 😂😂
Weeks?
I feel like if you get hit in the nuts so hard that it takes *weeks* to recover you should probably go to the hospital.

And remember. Don’t be a Bob vs Saenchai
Perfect but what happened to your eyes Gabriel maybe it's a sparing
Love the videos. But it would be cool if you had another person with you
I watched your video and KO’d my opponent in my debut! My Grandma didn’t stand a chance!
Why my favorite fight coach Gabriel got satanic pentagram shorts on ?? ://
