Gained a sub! i've been obsessing over my kicks lately cause i do both TKD and Muay thai and i gave myself a mental hurdle and cant throw high kicks anymore without feeling something is wrong, Can you speak on high kicks a little more if any more kicking videos come up. Also what the commenter said about imagining as a clock, i try to put my shin across the target as if i was trying to put my shin horizontal on a wall in front of me, is this incorrect?
If you break the circumference of the bag down into a classic clock, with you standing at 6, and 12 being the opposite side, what time does the round kick land on? I'm right handed, mine lands at about 4. Also, does that matter much, or am I hyperfixating on the wrong thing?
It doesn't matter as much as long as you're visualising which body part of your opponent you are striking. A kick can travel horizontally or it can travel in an upwards direction. As long as the biomechanics are sound - where you land your shin is dependant on the situation.
@honourmartialarts i think I need to work on my spacing, is what it is. It seems like my kicks often land before they get moving, landing more on the front of the target than the side, or around the back. Thanks for the reply, and for the videos 👊

Good video. But I feel like you're missing the hip turn explanation

Gah dem 😮
Lol! Who taught you how to kick like that? While it is almost muaythai round house kick, it is not. You lack one essence of muaythai round house kick.
