We ALL did. And here the guys around us would never have guessed that for so many girls, the baby-faced guitarist with the giant sunglasses was our super-crush.
I have a self-confessed somewhat unhealthy obsession with Paul. He was just so freaking adorable back in the day. and then that deep voice paired with the accent and.... yeah. Such a shame the music business broke him because he's such a genius on the guitar.
Thank you, what a treat to watch! Paul’s sense of humor, beautiful face and that deep voice of his. So nice to see him being himself. I’ll never tire of watching this. Would love to see the entire interview though.

I told him how I saw these guys at ALUMNI HALL at Western University in London Ontario , 1986.. that was a good year for live shows actually cause I saw the CULT and Tear for Fears at same venue also in '86.. Lucky for me London was just big enough for allot of really awesome acts to come.. otherwise we had to truck down to Toronto to catch them.. or God forbid Detroit!
Paul has said he started playing when he was around 10, so he had not been playing very long when he joined then band in early 1980 when he was just 17. To have that kind of talent & technique at that age... definitely a prodigy/musical genius.
@@XI_Daisy_XI John didn't start playing bass until he was I think 17. HE started off on guitar but switched to bass because they needed a bass player & he got influenced by Bernard Edwards of Chic.
@@AJ17_ ✨🎶🤘😎🎸Another neat bit of musical trivia is that Nikki Sixx (bassist for Mötley Crüe) also started out with an electric guitar. He kinda played it bass style to start practicing and playing.

He suffered the stroke back in early 2020. He was in the hospital for awhile. I have heard he's been doing better, though he is still recovering,. Poor guy has been through it. I really feel for him.
Paul Reynolds had an incredible guitar technique and sound. He was on the same level as the Edge and Andy Summers with the echo effects. Amazing sounds! I’ve been a big fan for years!
edge isnt a guitarist...he said himself hes a technician who likes to play with sound.jimmy page said the same thing.andy summers is light years ahead...
@@TylerDurden-oy2hm That's ridiculous. I agree that Andy Summers is way ahead. But of course the Edge is a guitarist. He's been playing the guitar for the past 50 years.
@@spurv I think that is just Edge's humility. He probably genuinely thinks that. He probably means that he is not a 'technical' guitarist like these blues and metal guitarists are. But to me, Edge is far more interesting to listen to than the 'technical' guitarists, who mostly sound 'same-y' to me.
Oh gosh I have to get a pair of sunglasses like that! Iconic! Edit: I got the sunglasses!! I found a pair that looks exactly like his and I love them!!
Incredible. Thank you for uploading this for people to see. I always wondered about the dynamic between Mike and Paul. So cool to see an interview with them mic'd up.
Paul was a great innovator. He must be at the same post punk party sharing drinks with Marr, John McGeoch, Billy Duffy, Will Sergeant and two or three others, no more.
Many, many artists are "cool", because they create an image not of their true selves'. Paul is properly cool, because he IS himself, in every way. Added to that, he is one of the most unique and creative artists ever to play the guitar, having created one of the riff's that will last long after we depart the scene.
This song was heavily inspired by 'I Ran" Have a listen it might be entertaining.@ Their guitar was so cool in their music, punkish, new wave excellence.
Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran is short like Paul and also has a deep voice. But Nick never had a baby face like Paul did back in the day, so it wasn't as jarring as Reno's voice is.
1983 for sure. Mike was starting to tame the hairstyle a bit then. And apparently this took place in Sunrise, FL (north of Miami, near Ft Lauderdale) according to the interviewer.
After he left AFOS, Paul took a year off not doing anything (didn't even tune a guitar), but he got back into music and played in several other bands throughout the rest of the 80s into the early 90s. None of them had the success the Seagulls had though.
I saw a guy with a ridiculous haircut like this in the '80's and he got on a subway and sat down on an old lady 'cause he didn't see her. How fkin' ridiculous. I liked Flock of Seagulls but what helped kill bands like this were silly things like the stupid haircuts. But what all killed more innocent music like this was that society became very violent, probably because of drugs like crack, so rap became the soundtrack for this crap society. RIP 1980's, the last decent decade.
I had the biggest crush on Paul Reynolds. Loved the glasses and watching him play! Thanks for uploading this!!
