This is amazing, I went to university for the first time at the age of 33 with 0 education and 3 small children. It was the best thing I ever did. Now I am approaching 40, still in university and I will not stop until I become a doctor.

PROPER education is the way out of poverty Meaning just getting a degree can make you deeper into poverty, getting a degree or learning something that makes money gets you out of poverty, especially if you are black in America. College debt is one of the killers of black americans cause they don't get hired as much as their counterparts I just want to make sure people understand this cause too many have ruined their lives from thinking just having a degree is it In reality, getting money is the key to a healthy life, but if you are in dire straights a degree is a first step if you have no other opportunities. America is so beautiful cause our ancestors fought so we can have so many options to make money, no need for JUST mainstream schooling

I'm Asian American and have many brilliant Nigerian colleagues in my field of private equity. African students in general have an excellent reputation in corporate America, often attend top schools, the ivy league, have engineering backgrounds, work in tech, high finance, consulting, law etc. They are also the sweetest people and make good friends.
The doctor is my favorite... he's so calm.. passionate.. zero pride... actually cares about people.... uses words like blessings and cares about mental health.... I hope he keeps soaring!!!!!!!

@@alecgurney9305 I actually agree. The U.K. is way better than America when it comes to racial equality and access to wealth. Where I live in the U.K. is so diverse - Racism is almost non existent. Having said that - we still need to build our nation and our continent. I have worked for some of the largest multinationals in the world building their businesses. Then I stopped and setup a charitable organisation in the U.K. Now we have to think about moving both to Nigeria and Africa so that we can create jobs, upskilling and development opportunities for our young people. That is what will make Nigeria great. That is what will make Africa great. The question is are we hungry enough to work together to make it happen. We will see.

@DofA thanks - much appreciated. The elections, Politics and Banks do not affect what we are trying to achieve. The world has indeed changed. New ways of working have risen but we are still stuck in the past. We have been blaming the Government and the politicians for far too long. It’s high time we started to realise that those institutions may never change and if they do not change - we must move on. In the same way that Governments took over from Monarchies - it could be the case that the people can start to think about doing away with the government - just putting the idea out there. There is no point flogging a dead horse. Like all things which do not work - perhaps the government can be thrown into the dustbin. What we are planning is quite radical in the change that it can bring especially to the lives of the people - please continue to pray for us. Blessings.

I am so emotional watching this documentary. I am a student here in the US and it’s great to watch inspiring stories. With God everything is possible. I am shedding tears literally. I am overwhelmed however my faith has been provoked to even work hard and remain focused. I will realize my dreams one day. My Gos is a miracle worker and a promise keeper. There was one common theme in their stories, they trust God, seek God and left it to God. You have already made the confession that God is a miracle worker and a promise keeper, now you have to just start thanking and praising God for what He will do for you. The stories are really inspiring.

I kept seeing this video on my feed and at last I watched it and it was such a blessing. So inspiring. There’s joy listening and learning from other people’s story. Though the journey isn’t easy, these individuals stepped out in faith. Everyone has a story to tell but we can always learn from someone’s journey. African & So Proud! It’s that reminder to not give up. You fall and you will rise back up again. The goal isn’t just becoming a millionaire but pursue your dreams and impact others for a purpose. There’s something in this life that we have been created to do. We are moving forward in faith and greatness with God on our side, all things are possible.

Our white brothers and sisters are called Americans, Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, English (even the English are immigrants in the UK), therefore there is no reason we cannot claim, in addition to being Africans, the full citizenship of countries where we have every legal and dare I say, moral right to be.
I had to read this multiple times to get what you were saying but it make total sense. I believe she’s saying that white people are immigrants themselves! They weren’t the original people of America, so everyone as immigrants should have equal rights to the opportunities America offers.

In a way, I feel like that phase limits our potential to believe in ourselves. In our diaspora, there are so many examples of "firsts" that didn't allow themselves to be limited just because no other person or Black person had ever done it before. Yes, it's encouraging and it helps inspire others to know they can achieve as well, but I believe we equally need to have faith within ourselves and our God to envision our success, by realizing the greatness that lies within. As evidenced here, we have agency to be our own firsts. If there's one area of expertise we collectively have, it's to make a way out of no way. ❤️

Proud of these achievements especially Addisa. Imagine such a brilliant individual with huge potential denied opportunities just because of her racial background. Yet she overcame the boundaries to become a huge success. Africans living in the white man's land are faced with huge barriers in job search and to rise to this level is beyond remarkable.

Generational wealth is so very important that is why me and a couple other women of color started a peer to peer community with five people and now we’re at 350 people we are very proud to know that we are passing our wealth within our community and building as we go. You don’t need the govt to support you, you just need faith in your own community to build financial freedom!

As an African and Nigerian, African Americans are indeed the richest black group in the world, with that said, kudos to my country Nigerian and other African Sisters and brothers... Actually we should be richer in our home countries, however many of us will never go back to developed - Nigeria is a very under developed country.

Yes Black Americans are the richest group and it's not even close. There's more Black American millionaires than the entire Sub-Saharan region of Africa. Which is crazy because there's like a billion more Africans than Black Americans.

My uncle leaves in Nigeria known, but as far back 2011 when I went to visit he had a large hospital in savannah and leaves in this massive mansion in an estate with a golf course. I was proud of what he had done

These stories were very inspiring. I am an immigrant to Canada who came here qualified in my field however, had a hard time getting a good paying job. So I went back to university, changed career and is quite happy with what I am doing now. Sometimes, I wish I had started earlier in this field (an educator) or had the opportunity to go to university right after high school but that was not the case as I had no support from my father who abandoned me. (I worked and siezed the opportunity later on to attend university in my country). However, I am grateful to god that I am doing something that I love and is passionate about and that is making a difference in childrens' lives. You have to carve you own path to success.

We don’t produce products anymore as a country, just get jobs for greedy corporations, and bankers, (trust me I play that investment game), but we need more then that to be a robust country, again. I’m gonna put my future children in “Elon Musk’s” school. They teach kids how to think in creative ways to solve problems. That is how I think teaching should be done cause It creates thinkers that create new products, and that means big MONEY & POWER!

African students in general have an excellent reputation in corporate America, often attend top schools, the ivy league, have engineering backgrounds, work in tech, high finance, consulting, law etc. They are also the sweetest people and make good friends.

@@alecgurney9305 I actually agree. The U.K. is way better than America when it comes to racial equality and access to wealth. Where I live in the U.K. is so diverse - Racism is almost non existent. Having said that - we still need to build our nation and our continent.
I have worked for some of the largest multinationals in the world building their businesses.
Then I stopped and setup a charitable organisation in the U.K.
Now we have to think about moving both to Nigeria and Africa so that we can create jobs, upskilling and development opportunities for our young people.
That is what will make Nigeria great. That is what will make Africa great. The question is are we hungry enough to work together to make it happen.

We have been blaming the Government and the politicians for far too long.
It’s high time we started to realise that those institutions may never change and if they do not change - we must move on.
In the same way that Governments took over from Monarchies - it could be the case that the people can start to think about doing away with the government - just putting the idea out there.
There is no point flogging a dead horse. Like all things which do not work - perhaps the government can be thrown into the dustbin.
What we are planning is quite radical in the change that it can bring especially to the lives of the people - please continue to pray for us.

This has been so encouraging, thank you so much! Just a point to note - you have every right to America and any other part of the world where you have significantly affected in positive ways. Our white brothers and sisters are called Americans, Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, English (even the English are immigrants in the UK), therefore there is no reason we cannot claim, in addition to being Africans, the full citizenship of countries where we have every legal and dare I say, moral right to be.

In a way, I feel like that phase limits our potential to believe in ourselves. In our diaspora, there are so many examples of "firsts" that didn't allow themselves to be limited just because no other person or Black person had ever done it before. Yes, it's encouraging and it helps inspire others to know they can achieve as well, but I believe we equally need to have faith within ourselves and our God to envision our success, by realizing the greatness that lies within. As evidenced here, we have agency to be our own firsts. If there's one area of expertise we collectively have, it's to make a way out of no way. ❤️

I love these stories! I am American born but African in my heart. Generational wealth is so very important that is why me and a couple other women of color started a peer to peer community with five people and now we’re at 350 people we are very proud to know that we are passing our wealth within our community and building as we go. You don’t need the govt to support you, you just need faith in your own community to build financial freedom!

Maybe you should analyse what are the major causes that make our Motherland toxic to live in at times when it should be a paradise. Actually we should be richer in our home countries, however many of us will never go back to developed - Nigeria is a very under developed country.

These stories were very inspiring. I am an immigrant to Canada who came here qualified in my field however, had a hard time getting a good paying job. So I went back to university, changed career and is quite happy with what I am doing now. Sometimes, I wish I had started earlier in this field (an educator) or had the opportunity to go to university right after high school but that was not the case as I had no support from my father who abandoned me. (I worked and siezed the opportunity later on to attend university in my country). However, I am grateful to god that I am doing something that I love and is passionate about and that is making a difference in childrens' lives. You have to carve you own path to success.

These are the type of people we should be championing, which will then inspire the younger black generation. Not rappers and reality TV celebrities and singers.
