I sometimes do presentations in Japanese schools mostly and they seem to love what they see and hear about my country. We have a lot to offer to the world. It's the poorest because rich countries are busy looting their resources creating unnecessary wars. If we have a stable DRC, and with good leadership, that is the weak link the rich countries have found to loot African resources.

Oh, check South Africa or Eswatini. I lived in Eswatini for 19 years and the wealth disparity is staggering. The city is divided into 4, those living in the city are middle income, slightly out the city are the suburbs and this is where high earners and ultra rich gates communities are found. Once you pass this area, you then reach the townships where the poorest live in multitudes, outside that are "semi-rural settlements" with some few mansions. In high school just mention the area you live in and we can automatically estimate what your household income might be and the profession of your parents.

I worked onboard ships and have had the fortune to visit many countries in Africa during my time. There was a stark difference in quality of life between East Africa and West Africa. East Africa with minimal resources is advanced and have been able to bank on a lot of opportunities in the Indian Ocean. West Africa, is where the resources are but it’s staggering to see the wealth disparity. They need to get the resources under their control and be a bit more business oriented.
You forgot to mention the corrupt politicians who sell their countries and counterparts out to foreigners. There's a reason why China is so prominently placed in Africa, metals and mining.

Most people who live extravagantly are involved in some type of “easy come easy go” endeavor. I know from experience. I once had a business partner who had a 25,000 sq ft home. Turned out his company had been screwing people over for over a decade. They screwed me over too and I walked away with an education and just barely enough to start over. It’s all part of life. I knew it could happen, and I was able to go on to make millions, but I’m sure it doesn’t go that way for most people. Just live your life the best you can, keep your head up and be aware that it’s not really a battle unless you feel it is.

I know poverty in Africa is harsher without social security that the West is privileged to have. However, there is poverty and disparity of wealth everywhere on earth. In Africa natural resources is more of a curse than a blessing. Therefore by their saying, the ultra rich here would earn about 90 000 euros per month. But as usual, the ultra rich person in the video is the singer. The true ultra rich will never let cameras stream their houses in Africa. They live in gated and well protected neighbor hoods.
Funny how the company earning 2 million pounds a day does accounting on a book, also alarming that an international music artist has no electricity backup like solar in his mansion and is left stranded by a power cut. I’ve been to South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Senegal, those countries did not prepare me for the DRC, completely different world there. What’s bizarre is the US government thinks we need an embassy in Kinshasa, why is that? I have a couple ideas as to why, but mostly irritates me that our tax dollars would go into these multimillion dollar structures while the people around the structure are starving and people in the states have no healthcare or retirement.

Well, when i was a kid, i just saw how amazing the work in the congo was. As adult, today,, we have very educated raised in other countries but entirely congolese, who work for the US military at spaces as foreign nationals who are just amazing very highky educated workers, like more educated than most we know.

Most people who live extravagantly are involved in some type of “easy come easy go” endeavor. I know from experience. I once had a business partner who had a 25,000 sq ft home. Turned out his company had been screwing people over for over a decade. They screwed me over too and I walked away with an education and just barely enough to start over. It’s all part of life. I knew it could happen, and I was able to go on to make millions, but I’m sure it doesn’t go that way for most people. Just live your life the best you can, keep your head up and be aware that it’s not really a battle unless you feel it is.
the sad reality about africa is that the people in control are very powerful and many in numbers. so even if you come in with good intentions and want to do good. it will be you against 100 plus corrupt people and you’ll end up fearing for your life. you have no choice but to join them or die. i believe better days will come and my people will rejoice and enjoy basic needs because God doesn’t sleep.

There's enough money in Africa but politicians keep most of that money for themselves that's why there are so many regular people struggling.

I think he's speaking relatively. Take the minimum salary in your country and multiply by 100. Minimum salary in Cyprus is around 900 euros. Therefore by their saying, the ultra rich here would earn about 90 000 euros per month. But as usual, the ultra rich person in the video is the singer. Funny how the company earning 2 million pounds a day does accounting on a book, also alarming that an international music artist has no electricity backup like solar in his mansion and is left stranded by a power cut. Goes to show no matter how much money we have, if we live in a country that is messed up by bad governance, we all live in a slum. I’ve been to South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Senegal, those countries did not prepare me for the DRC, completely different world there. What’s bizarre is the US government thinks we need an embassy in Kinshasa, why is that? I have a couple ideas as to why, but mostly irritates me that our tax dollars would go into these multimillion dollar structures while the people around the structure are starving and people in the states have no healthcare or retirement.

Love Africa.... Great documentary. I think it's just wonderful how some of these humans have made their way out of poverty. What I find even more commendable is that they've chosen to keep their wealth in their beautiful country. Such a sad state of affairs when impoverished countries lose their budding entrepreneurs to a wealthier country. No country will ever rise above poverty, etc... when the "Movers and Shakers" remove potential growth from their homeland by leaving. I don't like that self proclaimed, "Prophet" though. While Leopold did devastate the Congo, if the US had not interfered in Congo's affairs in the 50s-70s, Congo would have long overcome those historical atrocities. People want to always pretend as if America has not had the most devastating effect throughout Africa

Well, when i was a kid, i just saw how amazing the work in the congo was. As adult, today,, we have very educated raised in other countries but entirely congolese, who work for the US military at spaces as foreign nationals who are just amazing very highky educated workers, like more educated than most we know.
Because people like me, I like to say, but people that asked me to observe their work, I said, in the past if you love the Congolese, then you help them hold legitmate space correctly, known as how those workers exist.
