- Several hundred private cargo planes in the United States deliver millions of packages per year. The FedEx superhub in Memphis Tennessee works around the clock to get parcels delivered to customers and hopefully - on time. VOA's Lesia Bakalets traveled to Memphis to learn what part of day is the busiest for the FedEx team and how quickly they can load a plane.

Even though I bought many things from Japan, I can't help but continue to be impressed that FedEx always delivers in less than two days to California. The Oakland hub is just amazing and efficient.

My daughter works at FedEx Concord NC and she likes the environment. She says they really care for their employees’ safety. They get brakes to make sure they are hydrated in the Summer. They are not into screaming and berating people in front of other employees. She worked at Walmart and was outta there in less than six months. They would treat them like crap and would scold them and belittle them in team meetings. She’s been working for FEDEX 6 months at the warehouse and will start training for the control room next week.

My dad used to work at the Memphis hub same with my mom. They actually met at one of the stations in Indiana then moved to Memphis and now they work at the ORL station at the orlando airport. My dad worked for TIGERS before FedEx bought them so hes been unloading plains for like 38 years. My moms a driver. Btw FedEx is a pos company to work for. Ups pays more and has better bennis. Both companys work you like dogs, expecting you to be some robot 24/7 365. Luckily my dad's moved up in the company and my mom has 2nd highest seniority at her station so she gets basically the best route with the most hours and "less back breaking". Idk how my mom does it shes a beast. She unloaded 53 footers for 3 years before she could bid on a driving job and my dad did it for 5yrs till he went to heavy weight at tigers. FedEx and ups require 1000pcs an hour from one person each truck and I worked at Wal-Mart unloading trucks and had to do 2800 an hour. And only for 25 cents more than what ups would have paid me. I wouldn't work for walmart even if they paid me 30 dollars an hour. Bunch of bums. If people only knew.
That's amazing, and I don't doubt a word of it... FedEx employees have _tough_ jobs, whether they're doing backbreaking work at a breakneck speed behind the scenes or dealing with irate customers demanding to be told the exact location of their package RIGHT NOW (not understanding their single parcel is one of *millions* in the FedEx system at that moment and unless the person behind the counter has ESP... well, they won't be able to tell 'em 🤷🏻♀️).
I get frustrated with FedEx at times but I always keep communication friendly with the employees. They get enough grief from the company and the customers as it is.
I hope your parents are doing well. I feel for them... Their work is ridiculously taxing, physically and emotionally (but you already knew that!).

Often my packages still ends up being late anyway with FedEx, even when it arrives at my city early.
That is because fedex pioritizes first class over ground. Pay more if you want want first class.

I remember when Federal Express was king in the 1980’s. Guaranteed delivery by next morning. That was so convenient. But now, they are nothing but the Kmart of shipping. Missed delivery times and no guarantees. I have had much better success using UPS at our business. FedEx was yesterday’s news

It stands out to me that no one looks happy here.
I worked as a package handler in Fort Worth. It was hard work, but overall I felt like it was a good company to work for. Can't speak for every hub, but there was a lot of camaraderie with the other people on my belt. But yeah, sometimes you don't look happy because it is hard work, but I enjoyed my experience there.

@@KD-nk3ht Not sure what half of that means, but I was not fired. I eventually quit for a different job but left on good terms. :) Even stayed until the end of peak season just so they wouldn't be short staffed.
