If you play bass, you're a bassist.
If you race cars, you're a raci-
racer*
Yeah he totally meant that
This logic is flawed. Play bass - bassist; race cars - carist
If you sing rap, you're a rapi-
if you're a pr****tute, does that mean you're a sexist?
The true bass line is the friends we made along the way.
Well beat it was also played on a synth keyboard
Nope, the bass is real. The synth keyboard is the line from the beginning and the middle, which is a Synclavier.
I'm truly impressed, I thought everybody knew White Stripes doesn't have a bassist.
I genuinely thought he wouldn't do SNA, because of that, he did anyway LMAO. How do people not know this?
I didn’t know that…
I just figured it was recorded with a bass
Same, I loved 7 nation army sense it came out on the battle field trailer lmao
I knew it
Davey: “One of them has never been played on bass”
Also Davey: Plays all 3 on bass.
Lol
Slap that statement into falsehood. OMG.
Interesting
2 of them sound normal but the second one isnt played on bass. That's why it sounds weird.
Its davie not davey
White stripes 😊 Jack had this peddle that made his guitar sound like a bass
I think he had a pedal.
@@DavidSmith-vr1nb …that would be correct he did have a pedal …I meant to spell it that way 😅 lol
Henused an octaver pedal.
Stop medaling with YT comments to pedal misinformation! Leave me in piece to enjoy this fine mettle.
Octave pedal
seven nation army. that bass line was written on guitar. although you said "never played on bass" and at this point its one pf the most consistent songs played on bass
He meant by the original artists. Not "by anybody anywhere ever".
You should do more of these music education bass lines!
My god...I was slapped...
*you is slapped😉
Yeah you sure should Davie :3
yess
that was useless as fu.....
I know not everyone is as attuned to hearing the different instruments, but I swear a guitar and a bass guitar aren't too hard to tell apart; the "bass line" in Seven Nation Army sounds _way_ too clean to be a bass guitar.
Omg this makes so much more sense, I'm a beginner bassist and I always tried to make it sound exactly how it is in the recording but it was never as clean
@@kibbles3394 Yeah, that might have had something to do with it. 😂
The only way I can emulate the sound is to cut all the highs out and boost the bass up as much as possible with slight overdrive.
If it has strings a box and you play with your hands
It is a guitar
You cant change how ignorant i am
@@mateuszkrytyk5711 yea, but a standard guitar and a bass guitar have some significant differences, so you're not wrong you're just not 100% right
One of the most iconic baseline that I am surprised was not in this video was no pressure by Queen or ice ice baby by vanilla ice or bops goin brazy by Tyga whatever 😂
Beat it is played on a guitar too.
Very impressive, but can you play "Hysteria" using left-handed bass? No
Amogus!
Can he play hysteria while hysterical? (2x faster)
"I bet DAVIE cant!"
total impossible even for leftie
checkmate Davide Biale
...And justice for all album has got the best bass lines ever
Yes and no but mostly because their is bass don’t tell any one I said that
Tbh if you listen to ...And Justice for Jason edits on RUclips, the bass makes the album into the best Metallica album imo
I mean…. Jason wrote Blackened… probably one of the heaviest and most technical songs in the Metallica catalog
What they did to Jason's playing on that album was criminal hes a brilliant metal bassist
Ikr 💀💀💀
I play it on bass and I’m having a concert on that song tonight … 😂
Idk why I love this guy sm
I was like this is easy “Beat it”
Dave: No its Seven nation army.
Me: received a god almighty slap from Dave.
What seven nation army was literally the bass line for the whole song yanno im so confused
Wasn’t tuned down tho it was a pitch shifter
Ifkr I also said beat it
i thought it was “beat it” cause you don’t beat it, you slap it
The moment i heard “seven nation” i immediately said “its on a downtuned guitar” out loud.
it wasn’t down tuned it’s played with an octave pedal
I love my body, but I'm a gymrat
Everybody has a lil bit of Zyzz in them
SIKKUNT
@@leonheathourakov1732 iirc, it's not just any octave pedal... but the venerable digitech whammy on octave setting. again... iirc.
Davie, you… just… played it on a bass… (“never been played on a bass”)
Davie actually used logical reasoning
Him: which one has never been played on bass?
Me: umm none of them u just played them all
That’s what I thought
Lmao so clever
Davie doesn't even need a bass to play, he's the bass.
@@Blizzed2 😂
Lightning bolt in the middle
justice for the bassless white stripes
i’m pretty sure beat it by MJ, is played half a step down on guitar, but i could be wrong
As soon as I heard you say “one is them isn’t played on bass I instantly thought seven nation army
I thought it was "Beat It." I knew it wasn't the first one and the second one sounded so similar
It sounds exactly the same though lol
ye shows my knowledge in dis bass stuf, stil shook tho!!
Michael Jackson loved playing the bass
Maybe it's the same riff on guitar and bass
Nahhhhh, I'm a Moonwalker. MJ loved the bass
seven nation army:
Jack White played guitar in the song, using a specific amp of sorts to pitch it down and imitate a bass. The simplified verson is played the same on both instruments :)
Seven nation army was used with a 1950’s electric guitar ;)
At first I was like "Its gotta be beat it, since MJ was the king of pop."
Then Davie was all "You are wrong. It is the second one."
Then godsmack came in and said "...and the hand of God just smacked you back into yesterday!!!"
I think Billie Jean was recorded with both synth and real bass in the mix, so there's something to your hunch.
Ya same shit
never knew Michael Jordan was the king of pop
White stripes has no base.
I played all of these songs when I was like 10 so I was very confused
“Never been played on baseline”
Proceeds to play it
He played it on the bass because the notes were in bass keys. Seven Nation Army’s so called “bass line” were bass notes played on an electric guitar instead of a bass, hence, it was never intended to be played on a bass as a baseline, but rather just bass notes on an electric guitar.
Seven nation army is guitar
Beat it was electric guitar though-
They make pedals that can tune your guitar down an octave and give it a pretty convincing bass sound. I'm 99.99% sure that's what they did, since loosening strings enough to hit a lower octave would give you fret buzz unless your action is set ridiculously high
Exactly right. Digitech Whammy pedal, to be exact.
@@banjobill8420 thx im gonna buy it rn :)
As someone who has tried learning Seven Nation Army on a guitar, I have no idea how you would play it on a 4-string bass when the song requires all six strings for different parts.
White strips amplified the sound after recording as the 2 don't play bass
Skill
Wait, I learned 7 nation army on bass when I was 12
@@inster_playz4817 Was it a 4 string or a 6 string? A 6 string bass could probably do it easily, but you'd have to use an entirely different set of frets and cords to do it on a 4 string.
I forgot how it was done but “middle 8” has a video on it
Guitar tuned down a octave is how i actualy play bass lol
ive never been so confused😭 yall beat it is def a bassline and then we have sna which im unsure abt then we have aobtd which is confusing aswell😭
I just had a stroke.
@@ezrasmith6785 nice!
FUN FACT: The guitar that Jack played wasn't tuned down it was done by a guitar pedal that can throw down the pitch
So, It was tune down electronically.
Of course he didn’t tune down his guitar a whole octave🤦♂️
DigiTech Whammy. Every guitarist knows that.
Boring Fact
So the pedal tuned it down an octave?
"but one of them, has never been played on bass"
Him: *plays it on bass*
90 likes and no repiles? Let me change that
That's literally the point of the video
Davie: This "bassline" was recorded on a GUITAR tuned down an octave
*Me: Ackchyually, that's not tuned down an octave, that's an OCTAVE PEDAL*
That sounds cool, now I'd like to hear the complete versions
I’m gonna play it all
A total lack of bassists couldn’t hold me back
I’ll tune down my guitar
So it sounds like a bass on the track
That is what an octave pedal does. It lowers the pitch...
@@Zaymont720 I think you don't get the joke..
And then he didn't even tune it down, a simple machine did his job for him
And I'm crying in my bed at night
Because I got no SLAPP
It wasn't even tuned down either, they either recorded it with an octave pedal or edited it after recording, way easier to do, takes way less time and sometimes sounds better lol
I love how jack white is terrified of bassists
@Lucas Gawor from the white strips… 😂💀
@Lucas Gawor how fucking dare you
For a good reason.
@@AvaWdoesvids is that like a cover band?
@Lucas Gawor @Iroha or Death they’re a band lol they made Seven nation army
# 2 was played in guitar and it was an effect that tuned it down
I play Bass and when I was in grade debate I played Seven Nation Army
(Now I’m a grade 4)
POV: you only have a drummer and a guitarists and you just created the best BASS line ever
Was talking with a friend yesterday and something he said made me realize that Rock Lobster’s baseline isn’t on a bass (no bass player, only synth bass), and that shook me.
its actually iraq lobster, thats why the lobster is dressed like an arab. "Death to America, and buttersauce" don't blame yourself i thought it was rock lobster too lol
ive never heard the white stripes on yet i instantly knew it was it
Love your videos!
Seven nation army, it was played on a replica 50's electric semi-acoustic guitar with a pedal to bring it down an octave.
Lmao
Glad the school of rock kid finally got to use his talents to create something beautiful
Lol
Zach attack *
Not a spongebob....
I allready knew that it was Seven nation army before he started playing the lines
The last one, it was made on an early digital sound mixer.
Honestly I never thought Seven Nation Army was never played using a bass
This guy is the best!
There is an interview between Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White where they all talk about how they came up with their individual iconic songs. Jack talks about Seven Nation Army there as well, I think it's 5-6 years old, or more.
How can you not know this it was obvious
@@asafardaleventeli695 because I know nothing about musical instruments duh...how are you not thinking that not everyone know the sound of an instrument is and they only listen because the song is good bruh
It actually wasn’t tuned down, he used an octave pedal 🤓
Actually he used a whammy pedal set down an octave 🤓
all of this actually does not matter at all 🤓
Yeah, makes more sense for it to be electronically modified, because if done manually it would completely ruin the string tension !
The string already feels remarkably loose enough when I drop D, on my low E string, can't imagine dropping an extra 5 tones !
@@arizonagreenbee It actually does. There’s a different between being right and wrong.
@@NBrixH I really don't think it matters at all. Right or wrong, fact of the matter is it's not a bass and bass is the only instrument that matters /j
His bass sounds like it has a chorus effect on it
Is that why its always stuck in my head
Very impressive… but can bass play Davie504?
If he lived in Russia....... then sure, I guess.
@@ryanjoserishi7c708 что?

IT IS THE HEHE MANS SONG (RIP Michele Jackson)
The guitarist of the white stripes actually plays pass wile playing guitar
I actually researched this beforehand and knew it and was low key just fangirling at his playing of the sus bass line
I listen to queen and Michael Jackson so much, that I knew they were both bass lines
Now if he played some of the songs on hot space, then it might have been true.

I told my friend that I had learned seven nation army on my bass when i first got it, and he said “you know it’s not actually a bass line right?”
The universe is a bass line for Davie
Beat It was written on the Yamah Synclavier.😊
You played my most favorite song, most notably "Another One Bites The Dust"
Killer Queen, The Third Bomb... Bites the Dust
fun fact: John Decon went out for pizza and forgot the riff to Unded Pressure
Actually the whole band didn't remember except for boy roger
Lol at watching a video on the correct answer and kinda always knowing that shit since I was a little teen and still remember it.
I remember learning this, I think they also put the guitar through a bass amp too
It wasn't tuned down an octave it was recorded through a bass amp using an octave pedal
Well now that you played them all, they are all bass lines
7 nation army was played on an acoustic guitar tuned an octave lower
7 nations army. sad most people didnt know it was just meg and jack
I'm actually surprised
That line is literally the most iconic line on bass and it's not even on base
I didn't know this at all
Logic in the video is silly. Bands have guest players all the time, it could easily be on bass in a band without a bassist. Lacking an instrument is not a reason that part is not played by said instrument.
I love seven nation army there's something about the song that I could just relax to it no matter what I'm doing.. and I find it fascinating how two people could make music like that. I also love we're going to be friends by them too!
Nummer 2
The baseline wars record within guitar, and octave Effekt..
Beat its main riff was also written on a guitar and then translated ofc
even though i already knew this, i love videos like this. you should make a longer one like this
Fun fact: the guitar wasn’t even tuned down Jack White is notorious for using octave pedals and even has his own brand of one. Verdict: double SUS 😂
Was coming to say it was a sub octave pedal…
@@jackgonzales-alexander1104 it was on a digitech whammy, he also uses it to go up an octave for leads.
Okay but I fell in love with the guy who has a purple electric guitar on the right side of Q T_T
Seven nation army that one was played on guitar, using an octave pedal to make it sound like a bass
Seven Nation army on *bass* was truly awesome, congratulations, Davie.
I thought Beat It was actually played on a synth, but looking it up again, I think it was a blend of synth and bass. Hell, idk lol
I thought It was written by Eddie Van Halen. I know he did the solo. Plus I have never seen beat it played on a bass. Davie is wronggg!
@@black1jack3 Eddie played the solo, Steve Lukather played the melody
I thought MJ because he makes the instrument sounds with his mouth
this song fired up my life
Under pressure by Queen is also a really iconic and catchy bass line that I've heard.
Another one bites the dust was literally written by queens bassist FYI
@@joelbalsters5352 I know jhon deacon wrote it. It prob his most famous song that he wrote. also did u knoe that under pressure was originally just the bass when they were out with David Bowie and then when they got to the studio they forgot it but then remembered it later and wrote it down. And the rest is history

It's the first song I learnt to play in full. This knowledge broke my unshielded 16-something heart at the time.
Whole time I was thinkin yep its another one bites the dust until he said seven nation army and my whole brain deflated
I legit thought one of them would be the "Seinfeld" riff.
