Because a lot of these videos are filmed at "press days", where it looks like they have their own car they're filming, but really there's 30 or 40 journalists there filming.
I think Honda is waiting for the price for the Toyota for they can match up. Because people are going to say $40,000 for a Civic Type r I rather get a Corolla just my opinion I could be wrong so now maybe this week or next week they might release pricing civic type r or next week
Lexus ct200h, Scion IM, Toyota Corolla (pedestrian version) and now this... GR Corolla. This chassis/platform has been around the block a few times to say the least. 🤔 Could we get a Lexus version? Maybe gr160...?
I respectfully found this video a bit difficult to watch, and it has nothing to do with the car. Roman and Tommy are great together in most videos, but their dynamic was off in this video. I found it quite frustrating as a viewer listening to Roman boss Tommy around a bit, telling him to watch out for things like he is a child, etc. I think maybe there should have been a decision made ahead of time where the person on camera (Tommy) should have been the 'lead' in the video and Roman was there for secondary commentary, but it felt the other way around and it was a little awkward. From a viewing perspective having to experience that bit of clashing was slightly off-putting. It disconnected me from what was actually happening in the video and I became disengaged. Anyone else feel that way in this video?
They are father and son, so naturally, you're going to get that dynamic. They can be a bit manic, but I like their relationship dynamic. The only thing that bothered me was them handing the camera back and forth and the poor audio when talking to Sofyan and his partner, but understandable since lavaliers aren't meant for recording audio at a distance and it was an unplanned guest appearance.
Something tells me the civic type r will rank higher as far as driving engagement. You know that feeling where the car is an extension of your body. Mainly that raw pure steering and transmission(shifting feel) is what matters most imo. The only car that truly provided that (within that $$) for me in the past was the s2000 followed closely by my Miata nd. Never driven the gr86 but I’m sure it’s also up there. Another point to add now that I’m getting older is cabin quality. I own a 22’ civic sport touring hatch and the cabin quality spanks the Corolla by light years. Including the sound system. Toyota JBL = garbage. The Bose in the civic is WAY ahead. Let me put it this way, the civics cabin is nice enough that they replicated it for the integra (minus stereo, els instead of Bose). The Corolla has winter AWD advantage. But I will say this: civic type r + winter tires will probably do just fine. To sum this up, I don’t know shit because I still haven’t driven either and let’s face it probably won’t for a very long time because of the god damn markup rape coming for both of those cars. I refuse to pay anything more than a couple of grand over sticker. Will see.
This is like when the FocusRS came out. I wanted it so bad...but 'cough' Ford quality kept me away. Toyota though.....just a great lil' package. Nice Review, TFL! (lucky ba$+@rd$).
As always another great video, & just so you guys know I use to watch car & driver & in my opinion I think TFL is a lot better. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻
There's a lot to love about this car. Toyota reliability. 3cyl engine growl. 4-door hatchback practicality. But is it really worth $15,000 more than a base Corolla SE with a manual? I find that hard to justify. The interior environment is not more comfortable or luxurious. The extra power is mostly going to go untapped in day-to-day driving unless you're trying to get a ticket and burn through gas faster. If I spent $36k on a Corolla I can assure you I'd be pampering it to make it last longer, not revving the hell out of it.
@The Real Cat of 2020 Good point. Plus it's a turbo. Those generally get problematic after 100k miles, especially if driven hard. Oil burning. Oil leaks. Blown turbo. This is a car that will be bought by guys with a lead foot and driven hard. I won't be touching it with a 10ft pole on the used market.

Seems like driver mod and the environment theyre in... Also some of the youtubers i seen launch them, they do it in 30/70 torque split, making them spin their wheels in 1st gear. Also, being at a higher elevation doesnt help. Maybe a good launch in colder weather and lower elevation will help?
