I am in the Sacramento, CA area with many source choices. However, I usually go for the best quality and price combination. I also mill some of my own lumber from free logs from downed trees in the area.
Thanks for the video! Sourcing is always an issue in my area, however it is quickly changing. Until 2 years ago I either had to travel 4 hours each way to get wood or order blindly online and pay $4-$5 extra per board foot for shipping. 2 years ago a small lumber mill opened in my area and he is quickly ramping up. His quality is awesome, and he has even started bringing in exotics.
There is some good information there Andy. Thank you. My big concern is buying wood online. I've gone to local hardwood stores and received good wood but I've always been nervous about buying it sight unseen. What are your thoughts?
I love your videos but we really miss your projects videos, from time to time give us some really cool projects to have some inspiration 😍
Appreciate the video as well as the expertise on buying quality wood.
Glad you found it helpful!

Keep in mind the target moisture content will depend on your area
That's why I gave a range. But this isn't about being exact. The point is to make sure you know what you're buying

Pinned meters are definitely not more accurate than the good pinless ones
