- This summer has been the first of many where Hayden is away at work all summer. That means all the little jobs to maintain the land fall on me.

looking after the land is not as pleasant as one may think, I learned that the hard way too.
Hay love to see your videos again what we did when we planted our trees is if u put a tire around them like over the top it keeps the weeds down and when your weeding them you will never hit them or damage them
Nice with summer, here is the northern hemisphere we may soon have seen the last night with frost before spring sets in for real.
How lovely to see you back. You’re doing really well and what a transformation already. Your wee lad is certainly growing up fast. Take care, God bless xx
Maybe a farm goat to help with the grass?
I’m following a goat Facebook group and wow, they look tricky! Might start with a couple of sheep?
Goats eat everything if they’re not contained.
Use your Grey water for veggies garden.
Everything looks so lush and green and healthy. In a cold and rainy snowy icy spring in southern Canada I long to feel that warmth .
My condolences on the death of your father.
If you can get some old carpet you can cut squares with a slit to put around your plants.
Oh and someone's been growing bigger over the summer! No and I didn't mean the grass or courgettes!
What a great idea👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
And I’ve learnt that the local carpet shop lets you take leftovers!
@@TravellingK Boom! ...and it doesn't involve using weedkillers.
It's been a terrible few yrs for fruit. Don't ket it discourage you ❤. I've found raised gardens easier to look after. Just one plank of 2x6inches but makes it easier. I decided to pick my zucchinis as narrows so I had more food lol hope you're ok. Remember you're not alone if you need to chat ❤
Hard work! And courgettes are so sneaky like that.
So good to see you! Good luck with your garden! You are one tuff lady to lug that water. Glad your neighbors came to the rescue. Fun to watch Reese growing, adorable.
Weather here in Indiana USA is also weird, wet and cold.
Yes, rain, I am in spring and trying to put a dog fence in, but the ground is to wet. I get it!
You look beautiful, the wee one is so sweet looking!
Great to see you back 👍
So good to see you back Karen and looking so good,
I loved to see you charging round on the lawn
tractor and not giving up on starting the
weed wacker, thy can be really obstinate.
as any Aussie would say "Fair Dinkum lil sheila"
Good to see reese growing like a weed ,must be
all the rain and motherly love ....and then along
comes Hayden in his very green tractor trailer
so everything is alright again and just maybe
the sound of hammer and nails again .
Take care guys be happy love life
.Luvz ya lots XXX ❤❤
Nice to have you back. That's it.
I certainly sympathise about our 'summer'. It's been great weather for farmers (unless in the cyclone hit region), slugs, snails and other garden pests. My shrubs have created a jungle and I've had to mow the lawns 2x a week and take grass to the dump because the compost couldn't cope. At least I didn't have a toddler to keep me out of trouble as well😆. You're looking great and appear to be surviving solo for the summer. I hope Hayden didn't have too many events cancelled. Thanks for sharing.
Great job on the grass 😊😊😊😊❤
Nice to see you back.
So nice that you feel like vlogging again, it’s lovely to see you back. Everything is sprouting up on the land isn’t it? The veggies, the chooks and Reece with his mop of golden hair🥰. You are looking well too Karen, all that healthy country air must be doing you good. Blessings on your household and your homestead and all the best with the house build.
Thank you, nice to see a update from you.
yep courettes have a habit of "sneaky over growth" and becomeing marrow - you look happy even if Hayden is away....
Years ago, I had a quarter acre in tauranga
Worried all week. Didn't ask weekend in the damn garden. Got sick of it. Always gardening it working
Great to see you back and enjoying your land, marrows n all!😊
Nice to see you. Lovely video 🌼
Your such a hard working woman karen, love you vlogs
Little Reece looks such a happy little boy too❤xx
Good to see you back, funny thing is I followed you because of you caravan, now it’s about your land, but I also have some land
Lovely to see you back. 🥰👍
Definitely a weird Summer Karen. We ended up with a few marrow as well. Blink and you miss the courgettes 😊
Go girl you are doing so well.
Good to see you back on again, yes it’s not fun when it’s either a drought or a flood and sometimes in the one week once the house is built life will be so much easier take care stay safe
"courgette" - I learned a new word today. Too bad it is the same as a zucchini (not a fan). My cousin use to send me zucchinis and I would get even with him by giving him whole branches of Brussels Sprouts - until he fed them to the deer instead of eating them.
🤣A fun revenge
I love both zucchini and Brussel sprouts; I could eat Brussel sprouts every day.
❤ I'll bet you're enjoying not getting caught up in the egg supply issues.
Glad we avoided that drama! Thinking of getting a few more fertilised eggs too.
Great update, it's certainly been a strange summer season. With the trees, it's worth using a plastic tree surround and a couple of stakes for each tree to protect them.
It’s all coming along nicely.🤗🥰💕 it seems you get our English weather rain 🌧️ and more ☔️ Roll on nice weather! Thanks for sharing 🤗
You’re doing great lady! Keep up the good work! You inspire me! 😊❤️🙏🏻
Great to see you back again.
Lovely to see you back.
You should get some goats to keep the grass down or some sheeps
We’re thinking of some sheep eventually - just need fencing first
karen where was your leg protecters while using the strimmer (weed wacker)
🤷♀️
Before the summer the weather men were telling us that we would be having a long hot summer 😢
how are you guys, have you restarted the house build yet?
What about getting some sheep or goats?
❤
: )
Do you have Lyme Ticks in NZ ?
I don’t think so…?
Question why do you let things get so overgrown??and why doesn't your brother help alot more?????
Hard working woman!!!
When I filmed this, it had been after lots of rain, preventing me from working, then being away 🤷♀️
You are an amazing woman Karen bless you 🤗🥰
You have two men on the property they should have been maintaining all that while you did your job of managing the home and your son 😠 How do you think you’ll cope for five months without the support you should be getting from your man isn’t it time he got a real job so he is there for his first priority… family ??
Hayden is a lovely hardworking man he do contacting job .he have built the home she in now and building the new home for them.
I knew his job when we got together. Survived this summer and he’s home again 💛
That's a somewhat rude, negative comment to make !! Just sayin' !
I applaud you Karen, Hayden 🥳🥂for trying to live sustainably off the land. You’re doing amazing. What a godsend to have your brother there too especially when Hayden works away, hugs to little Reece 🥰🤗
