I came across your channel by accident. Your videos, and your models, are tremendous. Especially the Brewster.
I started modelling when I saw plasmo I have been making models for almost 3 years thanks to this guy. Keep up the work
Вы мастер высокого уровня. Восхищён. Это не просто моделизм- это искусство. . Спасибо, что делитесь секретами своего мастерства. Начинающим моделистам это серьёзная наука. С бладарностью, из России.
This is fantastic job you did with a relatively 'difficult' kit - not where parts fit is concerned, but making it look good when it has minimal detail.
The following isn't a criticism of your build - just a little reference material for anybody interested: The thing about the interwar US Navy was, it was all about appearances (public relations) and the stress was on either performance contests (if you ever see the letter 'E' on the side of a plane, it stands for Excellence in whatever function the plane was designed to perform) and inspection scores. So the chance of any plane in these colorful paint schemes being all scratched or oil-stained was minimal. Inspection scores were THE big deal as there were constant inter-ship and inter-squadron competitions for bragging rights - be it inspection, bombing accuracy or the ship's baseball team. Sure, usage would cause unavoidable stains and wear & tear, but once the plane landed the race was on to get the plane back to looking as new as possible.
A Navy Buffalo of that era would not be a dirty bird, they were kept immaculate. Another awesome build David!
That is absolutely correct. The aircraft crew chief would give some poor sailor a sever ass-chewing if a the airplane was ever that dirty! Every photo I've seen of the pre-war F2A1 and F2A2 Brewster's are always in almost immaculately clean condition
.
Beautiful finish as always. What makes this finish even better is the glass canopy you left it in pristine condition.
One of your more interesting models. I very much appreciate you taking the time to narrate these in English.
Everytime i see yout models i get more depressed when i look at the ones i make
Papa Stalin I use them as inspiration. I have them playing in the background while working on mine. They never look as good as his but I makes me keep trying :)
@@driverlance Ditto. I've learned a lot of new skills from David, the biggest being not being afraid of trying new things.
welp models arent cheap and the cheapest airbrush in my country is around 150 dollars + the models cost between 60 and 200 and its really hard to find the correct colors needed
@@Ropetor with colour restoration of old WWII footage you actually have quite a bit of leeway when painting.
Papa Stalin you can by tubes of artist acrylics (primary colors) and mix your own colors. With a little practice you will have an unlimited palette of colors, for no more than $30
that joke was actually the highlight of my month so far.
I really enjoy your builds and get a lot of inspiration and tips for my own builds. I have a tip for you for making antenna wires and other extremely thin wires. I too used to use nylon wire and found it extremely difficult to use and paint. I started to collect old battery clockworks and took out the copper wire windings. The wire is hair thin and is much easier to manipulate than nylon. The clockworks are very cheap even if you buy a clockwork kit for about $10. The spool will last quite a long time. I have several that I salvaged from clocks that stopped working. The wire is great for cockpit and other areas where very thin wire is needed and you can also wind it around thicker wire for effect.
Just bought this kit, so this build tutorial should come in very useful! Thanks David. I'm not accomplished enough to add lots of aftermarket parts, but this video has given me a few ideas. I'll be doing the British WW2 Far East version.
I really enjoy all your articles, but being a 1/48th scale aircraft modeler myself (mostly), I always get excited when I see you have done a 1/48th scale aircraft again. This model is no exception - really great work. What really stood out for me is how you took a pretty old and average kit and gave it a makeover with a result on par with what you can get out of some of the newest kits on the market. Thanks for the video!
I used to make models when I was younger. When I look at your work I'm speechless. Perfect weathering job. Keep on mate!
Beautiful. Plasmo, you’ve inspired me to use so many modelling techniques and to improve. Including photoetch on my latest model! Thankyou for your work
Mówiłeś że model jest średnio wykonany... Ale jak zawsze zrobiłeś z niego dzieło sztuki. Chciałbym mieć tyle talentu co Ty.
I' ve been building model kits since the age of ten if I remember correctly, but still can learn a lot of good techniques from you. Really inspirational work!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again! This is what Art is all about! You understand how to use light and color to make the subject appear real! I love it!!! Trick the casual observer and teach other modelers how you do it. Again, another Amazing subject!
I think this might be one of my favorite videos! The finished model looks so close to the real thing it could be used as a movie prop.
Really great work, David. The Buffalo looks like just starting right from your desk... thumbs up!
0:49 When you first unlock Thach's Buffalo in War Thunder and try to land for the first time on a carrier...
I'm fairly certain the Thach Weave developed with the F4F Wildcat in mind.
The tactician who developed it was in a squadron that was converting FROM Buffaloes to Wildcats.
The Buffalo pretty much played a ZERO role in the US Navy after Pearl Harbor. They pretty much became trainers after the end of 1941. The USMC had a horrible combat experience with them at the Battle of Midway... They lost 13 out of 20 Buffaloes they had on the island!
The Finns were the only ones with an air force that had a good experience with the plane...
AvengerII i can't believe you actually typed all of that, you wasted your time buddy, he was talking about a game called War Thunder
Somite,
Do you REALLY think I care about what you typed? YOU wasted your time, BUDDY, if you think it matters to me what you wrote.
Seth Kelley at least talked to me like a NORMAL person.
Why do you go out of your way to insult somebody? You're why people HATE participating in RUclips sometimes!
@@AvengerII wtf dude chill! He didnt insult anyone...
@@AvengerII cool i didnt know that
Another beauty, David! I really like how you painted on the Roundels. I'll have to employ that "Trick" on an upcoming model!
Your Fw 190's are glorious. But the fact that so much cooler work, detail and hand-painted decals went into this, makes this the best IMO. - Outstanding!
This little aircraft has always fascinated me. Despite being obsolete by the time it was released, it had quite an operational history especially as an export. Great job - detailing and painting/weathering look great!
Hello Plasmo! Thank you for another great tutorial, each one I watch I pick up another new idea .The lead wire for internal template, as an example...so simple, yet I hadn't thought of it.
Fantastic build!!! No Brewster F2A Buffalo ever looked better than this one!!! Perfect color scheme!!!! Great Job!!!!
The Modeler God! I find watching him create incredibly realistic models very relaxing.
Skill, patience, artistry, which is why I watch since I lack all three. Happy New Year!
Simply amazing. I wish i had the time to get back into modelling, skill and the patience
Great upgrade of this vintage Tamiya kit. Really impressive extra detail work, just brilliant!. You have great patience and skill with painting masking and decals, hats off to you sir!
I have the MPM/Special Hobby kit, which I started some years ago, but I lost confidence because of lack of experience with resin and photo etch. I'll have to dig it out of the stash, maybe.
the masking and painting of that big greenhouse canopy is brilliant
Oh thank you. And yes, I do know you, you are a perfectionist that’s why I enjoy watching you. Take care. From South Africa 🇿🇦
Wow! Another amazing build. I can definitely see why you chose this aircraft. What a visually interesting plane!
yes, almost a "cartoon" of a plane, and the Felix the Cat marking is "icing on the cake" : )
Fantastic build. Looks so good. Really like the color scheme!
I find it a pleasure to watch an artist who s dedicated to art model building such as you.
Amazing !after 20 years since my last kit you have inspired me to go and buy a model cheerz from New Zealand 👍
I have just bought this for my 2nd build. First was a 1/72 zero. I’ve decided to build unloved vehicles and planes. This was considered a flying coffin but used well by the Finns. If I can build to 10% of your standard, I’ll be happy. I’ve learned a lot from your videos and realised that some skills as an illustrator are useful in model making.
That was my first plane model, great kit!
the Finn marking would be cool, for entry in IPMS "small air force" contest categories.
A labour of love well done for sticking with it
Outstanding job on the masking and painting. The 1930s "yellow-wing" livery is my all time favorite US Navy paint scheme.
I love that style to I am building a model F/A-18 with that style.
Excellent build David, you have made an average kit into an extraordinary model.
Cracking job as ever David, you’re a great inspiration. Thank you! 👍🏼
I'd love to see you do something that's been heavily damaged or burnt, like a crashed plane or partly burned out tank with interior. Love your 1/48 work.
congrats your wish has came true.... a couple years later.
It is not only Your skills that make me enjoy your videos. It is as well your comment.
Great build, David!
Painting the stars rather than using the decals was a beautiful touch. Well done.
Another terrific piece of engineering......you make it look so easy and the results are always impressive. Thanks for sharing your talents once again.
Фантастически!
Как обычно))
Спасибо за видео, Девид!
Fantastic paint job! Looks killer and nice work on the stars.
One of my favourite planes in one of my favourite colour schemes. Great job!
MAGNIFICENT, OUTSTANDING WORK DAVID! Kudos sir!
Great work again David.
another beauty, glad i found your channel! makes me want to get back into aircraft models.
What a cool little plane and this build is stunning. Wonderful paint job. I must say in real life pre-war the aircraft were kept very clean. salute!
I watch all your videos, but this kit is still my favorite. Masterful.
Another great build and a pleasure to watch!
I definitely have to purchase this kit! Enjoy the video!
outstanding project as usual!!!
Awesome work as always
Congrats! Another great build!
I built the US Navy version of this aircraft and painted it all grey after doing some research. It turned out really nice. But not like this one :) Great job.
Amazing work! You were born for this.
Nicely done and as always, inspiring work
Excellent build. paint is grand. Thank You for sharing
Really great work David. Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing mate. Always learn something new on every video.
Wonderful model - I personally think your world war 2 fighters are often your finest models! They may be simpler than the modern jets and dioramas but I think your in-depth weathering expertise is particularly suited for warbirds.
Loved this. Interesting and different on a far from perfect kit.
Your work is amazing just amazing. I model fulltime I have over 35 years experience and I have learned more from your Videos in the last 1 year keep up the hard work you are damm Good I wish I lived closer to you my I would love to have you work in my shop
Again a wonderful built model, like all of your projects 👍
Great job. You make it look so easy and thank you for sharing.

Dobrá práce! Držím palce v dalších projektech :)
superb as always.
Love your builds my friend
Ahoj! Excellent work as usual - nice choice of the most iconic paintjob of the Brwester
Impressive work!
Nice, beautiful. Excellent work. Chapeau !
Another absolutely beautiful model! Thank you for inspiring me!! :D
I truly admire your modeling skills and your models are fantastic to say the least. The best lesson I ever learned from my best friend who, like you, is off the charts when it comes to models told me to stop trying to be as good as he was. I realized that was never going to happen. If I were to build a thousand more models they would never be as good as his. But that’s the whole point. A person needs to build a model for himself, not to achieve a model as good as someone else. Sure, we all want our models to be spectacular like yours are, but not everyone has that talent. I sure as hell don’t and I came to the very stark realization that I pretty much suck at this hobby. But, I’m permanently disabled now and I build models just to keep my mind and hands busy. They’re never going to look good or win any contests, but that’s ok. I never built models for that purpose anyway. So, I build them for no more than something to do. A hobby should be enjoyed and if it isn’t, a person should maybe find a new hobby. I certainly enjoy watching you build your stuff though.
Best wishes,
God speed
These painted roundels are super nice!
Bravo on the Buffalo. I am a big lover of pre-war U.S. aircraft. The colors were beautiful on the aircraft. That is some meticulous work in this build. Yikes! We all do work that will not be seen. It is in our hobby nature. Good job.
Awesome build brother
Awesome. THANK YOU for sharing your technique !
Fantastic as always!!
Wonderful art work !
Your building skills is amazing! Fantastic as usual!
I love the colors! Amazing job, as always :)

Great job , appreciate the effort posting it thank you
Awesome model guys
What I really like about your newer videos is that you explain a lot of your steps and not like all the other videos that have almost no explainations at all.
