andrea russo You obviously haven't played the remastered version. I said the same thing when I was on ps3. I loved the last of us so much that I bought it again on ps4 . I noticed a huge difference on the ps4 version. 60fps is a huge difference than 30fps and you can easily notice it. It actually hurts my eyes going back on the last of us on ps3. As for the graphics, ps3 last of us has bright lighting(which is not bad) but uses low res. textures. Ps4 however lighting is a bit dark but has high res. textures.
@@JohnSmith-uu5ov Well no, the ps4 runs the game at 60, even with the higher textures, shading and aa, and in higher resolution. They could had made the game look even better but that would mean a remake in the case. As the title says it's a remaster.
I don't understand how people say "there's no difference". Are you blind? Look at 3:00 there's a difference. Walls, shadows, textures are more detailed than the PS3 one. C'mon guys there IS a difference. Sigh..
Technically there was a way to share the 256MB of system memory with the VRam. It wasn’t straightforward like having the memory pool unified, and required some extensive coding magic, but it was a feature. However where Sony always excelled at has been creative thinking to memory usage (for example using single greyscale textures assigned LUTs in realtime to reduce the need to store multiple versions of the same texture in the PS1-PS2 days), and real time compression and decompression allowing for assets to be as small as possible in memory and come and go on the fly, even to this day.
Don't get me wrong, the graphics were fantastic for the PS3 and I don't think it would have even been possible to improve them on that console, but the PS4 is clearly superior in detail and color. Such a beautiful game
conlatoso in cutscenes, also textures and gameplay. in video is no difference buy when you are playing on ps4 it is much difference (Soory fot badest english ever :D)
Most of the changes seem to be just making the colors deeper and more defined which does match the aesthetic of the story a little better. But both of them still look great 6 years later.
High resolution and darker shadows. I always hated how the PS4 version is labeled as remastered lol its not in anyway. Now if they ACTUALLY improved the lighting, Added HD Textures, God Of War 3 Anti-Aliasing (MXAA I think) and a real stable smooth 60fps and the not the juddery version we got now. THEN you can call this a remaster. This is just couple of notches in settings. Seriously. PS4 is quite a bit behind PC but I'm dead sure it could handle all of that without a drop in frames if they actually spent more time on it. Something that MOST games are clearly lacking. Optimization. Developers really spend more time fixing this shit instead of pumping out more n more unfinished games..
After looking at the last of us ps5, I feel so distant, like I missed out on stuff and people I saw and knew. It's the era in 2013, when people were more interactive.
It's nice to see how well the PS3 version has held up. I just finished the PS4 remaster recently....yes I know, late to the party. School, work, and life stole my passion from gaming for a bit there. I must say, this game has reinvigorated my love for gaming; this was an unbelievable experience! I'm saddened that it took me this long to experience such a gripping game, but at least that has been rectified now. Easily in my top 5 games I've ever played, and it will likely never leave that spot.
Honestly the Colors are just more bright. I think the remastered was more of a cash grab then actually trying to improve the game. At least the remake had a noticeable difference in the graphics. So if it was me I would be more tempted to buy the remake then the remastered because I would actually see an improvement.
Their anti aliasing is pretty good, considering that the PS3 version is running at 720p. Maybe their engine and animations are "hiding" the lower resolution artifacts. In some areas it's pretty obvious 4:23 like here for example. But most of the time it's very mildly noticeable. The post processing anti aliasing makes the 1080p on the ps4 look a bit "dull" if you get what I mean. I bet you if they used MSAA or SSAA(I don't think PS4 could handle SSAA) 1080p would actually look like 1080p.
on ps4 version its has been scaled up to 1080p with added filters to make it look like a remastered version! on modern tvs and monitors it does look a bit dull! ps3 looks better and sharp!
PS3 can be upscaled to 1080p. I have noticed the resolution if you have a close-up shot from a side-by-side comparison, it's just really hard to notice. I guess this game was already too good to be remastered so there are barely any changes.
i have the last of us and uncharted drake fortune one on ps3, in my second playthrough both games started to glitch, the cutscene started to freeze and the audio got out of synchronization, and in some scenes the character where in awkward positions, for example in the car scene of the opening joel and tommy are outside the car when they are driving and i tried everything from changing the setting, cleaning the disks and deleting the game data utility and saved data file for the game and reinstalling what i wanted to know is problem in the disk or in the console and how do i fix it.
Hi men, I had the same problem with the same games in 2013. I tried everything you tried, nothing worked. So, I came to my usually game shop and they changed the hard disk and problem solved. No more textures or characters out of place (the main problem), no more sound problem, specially on Naughty Dog's games. I hope this help you and sorry for the bad english.
I started playing the PS3 version for the first time this weekend (I know!) as my friend has a copy and gave it to me for free - I have PS3 and PS4 set up and ready to play, I didn't see the point in buying it for PS4. Honestly it looks fantastic, I don't know if my tv upscales the resolution and textures somehow, but it still looks beautiful even on a 58 inch ULED 4K display. I'm aware that 4K cannot be utilised but it seems the technology of a crisp tv can work wonders for PS3 games. Also bought Last of Us 2 and have resisted the urge to play it until I finish this!
I personally enjoyed the ps3 graphics better which is weird but the difference is really small one thing I like about the remastered though is the 60fps it just looks so much smoother and the saturation is nice however I liked the brighter faded colors of the ps3 better o_O
Graphics are not really that different, just slightly better lighting and textures on the PS4 version. The biggest difference is the PS4 version runs at 60 fps which makes it run a lot smoother. (Although because this video was not uploaded in 60 fps you can't see that difference here). But if you play both of them that difference in framerate is very noticeable.
60fps and 1080p then calling it a remaster is a bit of a joke. They changed a few settings in the engine to add shadows and ambient occultation and that's it. If they remade the models and higher poly counts and remade the textures then it could be deserving of the title "remaster".

i got both games on ps3 and ps4.. i got to say ps4 versions does feels different.. more smoother and more beautiful.. but the game on ps3 is still fuckin awesome :D
This game along with god of war 3 are definitely some of the best looking ps3 games. They look so good that both those games ps4 remasters weren’t much, if any better looking. It says a lot about the ps3’s capabilities if you have the right developer making such gems.
ItzGabrielBitches No it's not. There's a brightness setting in just about every game ib existence, including this one. The brightness was either set too high in game, or the capture card waswnt set properly. Either way, the levels should be matched to give a fair graphical comparison between consoles.
***** Obviously there is a brightness setting but that's not my point, my point is the settings are equal but the PS4 looks darker because of how they changed the graphics for example adding more shadows but you never know maybe the settings weren't equal but I highly doubt that.
There’s no way this guy can stand on the exact same spot on another console. Even more at 1:03, Ellie is also standing at the exact same spot in both the PS3 and PS4 versions. This guy has to be playing on ps4 but just changes the graphics settings.
One of the things I like more of The Last of Us graphics, is that there isn't saturated colors, because this are some things many games are using nowadays
My cousin had this game on his PS3, I don't know if the problem was his console or the game itself but it ran like at 20 or 25 FPS. The same hapened with mortal kombat 9, it had serious slowdowns, a friend has a Xbox 360, and those MK9 slowdowns doesn't happen, it's the usual performance of a PS3 or my cousin's one had problems?
Your cousin's console is fine, this game's framerate is variable on PS3 and does dip into the low 20s or so, at times. I didn't find it too much of a problem because it is a fairly slow paced game.
PS3 was when I first played this game and I prefer it to PS4 (not saying its bad) just ps3 provides the epic nostalgia. (I also played this game quite late, I was an Xbox player and I moved to ps3 in 2016 then a few months after I got a PS4 and played uncharted which is another epic experience.)
When they call it a remaster but the difference is even smaller than what you would find on most PC games with the high preset of graphics settings versus the medium preset 😬
Nobody really cares about the minor changes to the graphics - cos this game was beautiful and amazing anyway and it's just a must-have for PS3 and PS4 both-alike. :)

@@JohnSmith-uu5ov Well no, the ps4 runs the game at 60, even with the higher textures, shading and aa, and in higher resolution. They could had made the game look even better but that would mean a remake in the case. As the title says it's a remaster.

The fact that it works perfectly fine on a system with 256MB Vram always amaze me
Technically there was a way to share the 256MB of system memory with the VRam.
Such a beautiful game
played this finally on my PS5. Never had a PlayStation 3 or 4, and it SURPASSED the hype I heard about it.

This is basically just an increase in resolution and darker lighting. And the graphics are still way up to date as of 2021 lol
Most of the changes seem to be just making the colors deeper and more defined which does match the aesthetic of the story a little better. But both of them still look great 6 years later.
A beautiful game on the PS3, I remember playing in 2013 and I thought it was r e a l
Just shut up

BG, Steve

PS3 version looks so damn good even today
It's not called a gaming console for no reason.
@@KeysConFuoco 7th gen consoles were my favourite, where did the time go man. And now Sony is closing the PS3 and PS Vita stores.

@@Vro_xppy May be. But I didn't like the game so I dropped it...
@@sstainlesst The PS4 is running on a native 1080p resolution, it's not upscaled unless the PS4 was a 720p console
anyone know the name of this song playing in the background?
i have the last of us and uncharted drake fortune one on ps3, in my second playthrough both games started to glitch, the cutscene started to freeze and the audio got out of synchronization, and in some scenes the character where in awkward positions, for example in the car scene of the opening joel and tommy are outside the car when they are driving and i tried everything from changing the setting, cleaning the disks and deleting the game data utility and saved data file for the game and reinstalling
what i wanted to know is problem in the disk or in the console and how do i fix it.
Hi men, I had the same problem with the same games in 2013. I tried everything you tried, nothing worked. So, I came to my usually game shop and they changed the hard disk and problem solved. No more textures or characters out of place (the main problem), no more sound problem, specially on Naughty Dog's games. I hope this help you and sorry for the bad english.
free on ps4 this october thank you having never played it yet it's gonna keep me away from borderlands 3 for a while
I started playing the PS3 version for the first time this weekend (I know!) as my friend has a copy and gave it to me for free - I have PS3 and PS4 set up and ready to play, I didn't see the point in buying it for PS4.
6 years later me bored was thinking the same exact thing, ps3 looks better not involving frames

I wouldn't call this a remaster.. they just played with the settings a bit.
Remake the last of us with the technology now you will see a big improvement
Basically The last of us 2.
60fps and 1080p then calling it a remaster is a bit of a joke. They changed a few settings in the engine to add shadows and ambient occultation and that's it. If they remade the models and higher poly counts and remade the textures then it could be deserving of the title "remaster".
they also added 4k
Its incredible see how a last generation game have better graphics than some games from new generation
Why is the health display at 4:12 on the ps3 is it bcoz the difficulty is on grounded on ps4?

All I see is higher frame rates and better color
You should've color corrected so the contrast wasn't so different.
***** That isin't his fault it's the difference between the two consoles.
So...they just turned down the brightness a bit 🤷🏼♂️
The game looks darker because the shadows are much more detailed on ps4

So basically the lighting.
When they call it a remaster but the difference is even smaller than what you would find on most PC games with the high preset of graphics settings versus the medium preset 😬
Huh. The ps3 version of The Last of Us still looks great on 11 year old hardware. Naughty Dog, you have done a great job!

I'd like to think that 'future' Joel and Ellie are the 2 guitar players on this track...
