In one of the economic slumps , airlines were cancelling orders for 737s and Boeing considered closing the 737 assembly line down. Against the trend, Ryanair placed a huge order for 737s which gave the 737 line a lifeline and production continued.

I wouldn't think so as O'Leary is all about the money without having to spend much of it. They're known as Europe's low cost airline for a reason, more than likely not to expand as it would cost too much.
For that they need big planes because the B737 can’t reach those continents by itself so if they do that the Ryanair B747,A330,A350,B777,B787 and the scary A380 from RFS must become real
