Panthers in 5, Boston rode the adrenaline from the Toronto series through game 1, but now it's just pure hockey, and Florida is clearly the far superior team. Florida vs NYR is gonna be fantastic
If it happens, Florida vs NYR could be fantastic. Don't underestimate how good the Rangers have been, tho, it could be a sweep.

Boston never should have beat Toronto. The Leafs deserved that series...
Sadly, as a Bruins fan this is reality. The team over achieved in the regular season, barely got by a Leafs team with a couple of stars out, and now will get bounced by a FLA team that is tougher and just plain better. Nice fantasy after that first game but it's time to pay the fiddler now.
This Florida team is reminding me of the 2022 Avs, crazy shot suppression with elite high end offense just overwhelming the opponent and very good goaltending just top it all off.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here but it's looking good that's for sure
Leafs are far superior and have better talent across the board. I would rather have Matthew instead of Barkov every time.

Getting Benny back was something my soul needed. It has never felt so good to be a Florida Panthers fan. We few lifers have gone from terrified of relocation to confident against good teams in the playoffs. Thank God for Cifu and Viola.

Good win for Florida. Panthers could close this out quickly. The B's need to figure something out because when Florida is on, it's hard to stop their momentum. Lightning figured it out the hard way, will Boston do the same? We'll see going forward.
Florida has now won 4 of their last 5 playoff games in Boston. Ouch.
5 out of the last 6 actually. Three in a row when they blew their 3-1 series lead last year, and now two of three in this series. I expect it'll be 6 out of the last 7 by late Sunday night.

sad when he left but the owners are cheap and the fans fill the arena no matter what. Hockey has a problem in Canada. we will pay whatever it takes even when the hockey is garbage. Last game I went to was 15 years ago and it is not any better today.

During the regular season Florida had 15 powerplays against Boston and they scored 0 powerplay goals. Glad to see they finally got a few pp goals in the last 2 games.
One positive thing for the Bruins is they didn’t have a too many players on the ice penalty.
Unless Boston can pull a rabbit out of a hat, I don’t think this series is gonna last very long

FLA cameback from a 3-1 game differential, BOS can do that as well. A fan can dream.
Marchand got a right hook to the face (concussion) with Bennett's stick hand. Look closely at the replay. It was very skillfully done and took me 3x watching the replay to see it. Marchand himself couldn't have done it better.

Doesn't matter its not a conspiracy. Bennet led with his shoulder hes bracing his upper torso with his arms and Marchand literally runs into his hand. There is zero punching motion. Its a clean hit, bad luck. The NHL has nothing to say about it either.

GO watch some of the highlights from the game. Watch the Fla forecheck and the middle zone play. the effect of the puck control causes the forward to act in unison fashion almost choreographed fashion and in sync with each other causing maximum pressure on the other team to defend not 1 but 2 or even 3 players coming at them all the time. Boston is having max difficulty keeping up. I never thought I would see this in this fashion. It's beautiful to watch just from a hockey standpoint. Its better when Fla is shellacking Boston, but that goes without saying.
You could also just look at stats. Boston is leading the charts in turnovers and face-off losses. Even before this series when they played a joke team.
@@OWlsfordshire Barkov is simply killing it that's true. He said that with Bergeron's retirement his FO% would go up a point or two. He's not wrong. I've been impressed with how dominant the FO work is from FLA. Simply impressive. This game was better, much closer, but it wasn't close when it mattered.
Boston acting cute out there thinking they can push around the panthers. Marchand eating it bumping around is just icing on the cake.

Marchand leaned into Barkov at the first puck drop and challenged him to fight. No one knows what Barky said, but you can see him shake it off. Later Marchand was leaning into Bennett and found out after screwing around. I'm pretty sure Bennett was saying, " There's your answer about fighting." Big mistake by Marchand. Bennett flattened him into the boards. Bye bye rat!
Bruins targeted Barkov 3 times early on and FL did not take the bait at all. No team is going to scare the Panthers when it comes to physicality.
Mellanby killed a rat in 1996, now Bennett did the same in 2024 😂

Marchand looked concussed after that hit from Bennett. There is a camera angle that shows him stumbling towards the bench.
Bennett literally punched him following through. Suspension
He played more hockey after the hit than before it. Most likely an upper torso injury from impact. Not the slight contact with Bennetts hand.
There was a hidden sucker punch in there and Bennett should be getting suspended but no discipline whatsoever announced. It’s kinda nuts, it’s a savage play

Just curious since you watch all the games, why do you think the panthers can score on swayman, and the leafs couldn’t?
Better shot selection and they're just a better team.
They are bigger and tougher than the leaf forwards. They win the puck battles in the corners then swarm the net. Leafs trade tough forwards, Hyman and Bunting. Those type of players are key. Bennet and Rienhart are tough to play against.

It is time for the Bruins to dig into the kit for innovative means. These may include, but are not limited to: Ventriloquism, Demonic Possession™, Voodoo, Loud and Unanticipated Sounds Like Growling, Singing obscure historical national anthems, leafy waves of Dulse shaped into a hat and fitted under the helmet, biting like Lemieux or Ruutu, etc. There has to be more of a willingness to try new and exciting things.
Boston was trying to goon, but ended up hurting themselves running into the panthers more often than not.

Definitely feels like game 1 was Florida knocking off the rust. The Bruins can stop taking entire periods off in these playoffs any time now.
Maurice had some really weird lines going on in that game too. They looked off in the beginning of game 2 also, and Maurice gave up on the experiment and changed them back. They've completely dominated ever since.
B's fan. I had Florida in 6. The series tied 2-2 with Floridas depth starting to take over and winning the series. Now I'm wishing in was a best of three just to have it over with.

I'm a Bruins fan and I KNOW even if we were to win this somehow we are NOT beating the Rangers. It's better if Florida, who actually has a chance, moves on instead.
Almost with you...but more for the higher draft pick than anything. I could care less if the Panthers would put on a better "show" against NYR; with that logic, Florida should have moved over for Boston last year---no other Eastern Conference team came close to pushing FLA as hard as the Bs did in that series.

What a letdown this game was. I only watched the third period thinking the Bruins would at least start throwing punches. Nothing.

While I'm not completely ready to write a post mortem for the Bruins, as a long time fan of this team I want to remind all Bruins fans what this season was all about. Macro level this has been a successful year, regardless of this series. Any time you can go into a season, having lost 10 regular starters (including 3 starting centers), develop a number of young & exciting players and still be a top team in the league and be a player in the playoffs......knock knock knock.........that's OK. Yes I know it's not a CUP but this team was never really built to be a CUP contender.
Let's see how the rest of the series plays out. This wont be as heart breaking as last year no matter what. I'm excited for the summer of 2024 & the expanded cap room and excited to see how our youngsters grow from year 1 to 2.

I’m a bruins hater but that 3rd period goalie interference call was total BS. He was held /pushed into the goalie. At minimum that should have been matching penalties.
It should have been a no call. One player tried to get infront of the crease and the other tried to zone him away.

That was Panthers being clinical, feels like they are taking over the series...that said, it's far from over.
I said it before the playoffs started, didn't matter which team won between Boston and Toronto, neither one would make it past Florida. The Panthers are MADE for the playoffs, they just didn't haven't put it all together to get a cup in the past few years and they've had their demons with Tampa. I legit cannot wait to see Florida vs NYR, that series could be a legit all-time great.

Ever since florida joined the NHL, Boston has never won a series against them. Boston also has a VERY bad record vs. Paul Maurice (Carolina years). I think its no surprise that Boston is Floridas Toronto.
They haven't had many chances to meet in the playoffs because Florida barely makes the playoffs. For years Boston has dominated them in the regular season at this point Florida has only been in Boston two times in the playoffs. The series is only 2 to 1.

There is no denying that of all the teams, the Boston fan base perfectly encapsulates the identity of the Bruins. They are extensions of each other, and it’s been that way for years. That is both a compliment, and not at the same time.

I'd lean towards it; Ullmark has a better record against FLA and I think the team broadly needs a shakeup.
But Swayman isn't the reason we're losing this series. Poor giveaways in the first 110 ft of the ice is what's killing us.
Not even a second guess; start Ullmark. The team needs a "spark" and that often happens when a new goalie comes in. This series is not completely Sway's fault---he was putting up historic numbers before last night and he cannot help the anemic shots on goal---but we are in desperation mode at this point. Double so if Marchand is sidelined.
I think the bruins will find a way to push this to 7 games. Who wins, idk? Overall I think this bruins team is soft and lacks chemistry. I personally think getting to this point in the playoffs is an over achievement for them without having a real core group and leadership. Marchand is aging out and becoming more injury prone, pasta is too soft for the playoffs and disappears. He doesn't have that krejci magic, or a young lucic at the wing lol. McAvoy burns himself out through the regular season and hasn't really shown to be the defenseman he was expected to be. If the bruins get anywhere from this point on its all thanks to Jay Sway

FLA is the superior team, as a Bs fan I can admit it. FLA vs NYR will be a banger.
But can I get a FLA fan objective enough to agree that the goalie interference call was soft? Wouldn't change much as thee Bs would still lose but that call plus the ref giving their body to protect Tkachuk (from Pastrnak, no less, never seen a ref jump on a player to shield them) seems questionable.
As a Panthers fan myself, I will never argue that the GI was total BS. Many other Panthers fans I've seen have agreed that it was an awful call.
