This cliffhanger won't actually be picked up for a few episodes. Generally, if it's going to continue into the next episode, I'll put 'To be continued...' across the last scene. Let's just say that the actions the Fat Controller needs to take will take some time.
Quite a well thought out story and I certainly do look forward to finding out what happened. Admittingly I was thinking wait where on earth would engine crew miraciously have £175? (As we all know a lotta money in them days) However you soon found a convincing means to justify that :)
Wow! I love this! I'm sorry I never got to say yet, but I enjoy your work, and I love how everything is written in your stories, you have one awesome series! But poor Thomas though, I hope everything works out for him thanks to Miss Hatt getting that email!
Okay I'll propose my theory: The email is from either a child or grandchild of one of the Errant Venture's sailors who has information about what happened to the ship, I'm gonna guess it is marooned on a rock or embankment somewhere all wrecked and no one has been able to recover it and over time was forgotten... And obviously that would mean Lily is stuck there... Still just a theory.
I know this isn't contined till a few episodes l8r but I can't wait for tomorrows episode. They make every Friday even better! :D Keep up the great work WNW. :)
this is the first time ive watched the modern years, and i busted out laughing when the narrator said "the fat controller' when its a clearly thin women
This is a pretty good episode you've made. I like how it told about what happened to Lily and how she wasn't scrapped when the other W&S and S&M engines were. I have to admit, after seeing the part when Brian told Thomas about how she was put onto the Errant Venture, I thought that she had died when the ship went missing and I was starting to feel disappointed, but when I saw the scene near the end when the Emily Hatt recieved that email, I have a feeling that this isn't the end of the story of Lily, and there might be a slight chance that she may have survived. Am I right?
My theory that Emily was not mentioned here, my guess that she may had been forgotten or even left like atlas was. Oh if you are wondering why, wildnorwester said that Emily was going to appear at Sodor the modern years. Edit: or maybe she turned into a pumping engine inside a building.
Poor Thomas :( I really did feel for him when he was told the bad news. Is the website the engines were referring to TTE Wikia ? Cant't wait for another great episode :D
I want my own wiki like you, your just so cool and such a inspiration,I have alfred, alice and mary in my series.alfred is good, kinda like your story, but different and he is more a villain, but when henrys at crewe he redeems himself
Like how they thought titanics stern would float with the compartments, but a few seconds after the ship split and settled, the stern was filled with air,so it imploded under the cold Atlantic and is horribly destroyed, the bow still keeps the shape but is missing funnels, and the back is badly bent and partially barried
Really great story :) will there be a story looking into Peter's past and what he was doing before he was put into the tunnel? It sounds quite interesting the ways you could go with that
+WildNorWester There is something that I want to know why did Peter wanted to be left in the tunnel? Also is there an episode where Brian gets assigned to Sheffield if so then what is the name of the episode
Yeah she's probably in the sea...and but because engines are transported on the top decks.p.s I have studied ships like the titanic and stuff.she probably would have rusted and caroded.really is a mystery, she couldn't have survived a sinking ship, maybe the ship split and half, and one parts waterproof compartment was closed so it stayed afloat or something, and the crew escaped in the lifeboat/s.maybe she was shipwrecked and is probably lying on the sand or in shallow water.such a mystery, only a few weeks until we know
It's actually a written volume, which takes place between STEY and STMY. It was published on DeviantArt: wildnorwester.deviantart.com/gallery/45901533/Locomotives-and-Legends
The other two W&S engines Colin and Adam, I saw them in Curse of a Tunnel by terrier55stepney with Lily and I've seen them as background cameo's in a couple of your episodes. Will they have proper appearances in any future episodes of Sodor the Modern Years and were there any episodes were they where going to appear in but got swopped out for someone else?
I haven't swapped them out for anyone, but they will be appearing in a couple of STMY season 1 episodes - in fact, the episode I'm filming now and the next one.
I have 3 guesses of the news either A: lily and the boat somehow made it to Scotland, B: Gordon is almost fully repaired, C: the china clay quarry has been repaired and the twins can go back
A) No, the boat sank. The crew had to abandon ship, and made it to the Isle of Man. The ship was lost at sea. Don't forget, this was back in the 1930s, before they had GPS and automatic navigation. B) It's nothing to do with Gordon - the Fat Controller would be getting daily reports on his progress, and so news about him wouldn't be unusual. C) It's still going to take a little while for the China Clay Quarry to be repaired and reopened.
***** oh ok then, anyways you're doing an amazing job with sodor the modern years that it's making me think about something but I will not say what it is
Something I'm concerned about, when Brian was telling his story, he said he heard the dock workers talking to somebody else, was that "somebody else" the Fat Director? And was Lily scared about going on the ship?
***** Ah, I understand that. Few more questions I wanted ask: 1. Were the Board of Directors hunting Lily down whilst she was running for her life and where was the Fat Director for the whole time? 2. What caused the Errant Venture sink? 3. During Gordon's flashback, was that fog obscuring Lily when Gordon thought he could see her heading down the closed Branchline? 4. What did Brian mean by Lily rolling in Kirk Ronan by "gravity"? 5. How exactly did Brian realise that the "female voice" was Lily after he spoke to Geoff?
Elliot Killick-Ward 1) It was more along the lines of the board of directors had an expectation that the older locomotives would be scrapped. This was in order to present a 'modern image' for the railway, which they believed would attract business and help them get through the Great Depression. The Fat Director and railwaymen didn't agree with this, so they arranged for Lily to run down to Kirk Ronan - passing her from signalbox to signalbox, etc. 2) The storm caused the sea to become rough, which in turn sunk the Errant Venture. 3) It was, yes. If you look very carefully, you may just be able to see an outline of her moving. 4) On my version of the Kirk Ronan branch, the line runs downhill all the way from Rolf's Castle to Kirk Ronan - this is seen most clearly in 'Flying Fish', when Sheffield's trucks break away. So, after passing through Rolf's Castle, Lily's driver would have cut steam, and she would have just rolled downhill. 5) Brian thought it was her, but that branchline had been closed. However, once Geoff told him Lily hadn't been scrapped, he realised that the voice that sounded like Lily actually was Lily.
***** Judging by when Gordon said there was debris between Kildane and Maron, that's sounds like that was done deliberately by Lily's crew and the railwaymen whilst Lily was passed from signalbox to signalbox. Also, why did the Fat Director chose Lily specifically to avoid being scrapped and did McBunnets Factory buy Lily secretly since she was to join Neil there?
Well technically no... But seeing as an engine needs fire in it's fire box being under salt water would certainly not help, especially as it rusts the engine away and most likely sea life growing around it so it may be that Lily could be dead from those circumstances since engines in the series who are scrapped are portrayed as dead... But still we have no evidence yet that the ship actually sunk, all we're told is that the ship got lost at sea... Could've crashed on a rock or something
Ok do i has a new question....if Lilly was in the ocean between 1934-2009 was it then she wouldn't she have been completely desiccated would there have been anything to save and restore in the first place?
Well, this whole arc was inspired by some engines found off the coast of Maine. They'd been there since the late 1800s, and were still mostly intact - just encrusted with barnacles. With underwater artifacts, the water does act as a bit of a preservative. Most of the risk of deterioration occurs as and after it's being/been removed from the water.
So two questions First what's Sheffield been up to cents his intro episodes and his little scene in the modern years movie. And two do you consider you version of the north western railway a private or a preserved railway
This episode bring up a few questions to mind. one. Does lily know duke? Two. How good do they know each other? (Her and duke) Three. when did lily start on ducks branch line before it become his? when she started on the NWR or some other time? Four. What did lily think of the new railway when she first good there and when did she first meet Edward? If you could answer these it would be nice ps this a cool episode good work
