Shaq, one of the things you seem to advocate for is “man up” and for players to play the games. You can’t just go back on that now when Chuck is saying Jimmy should still play with “why not?”
Shaq just turned his brain off. Sad to see. You are getting paid like one of the best players in the league. We expect you to perform like that as well. Its a business.
Ernie looking at Shaq and saying he is totally out of his mind. No wonder Kobe had a problem with him. Sometimes Shaq should be required to pay an entrance fee into a conversation, and before his words are published and/or stated, they should be screened for relevancy.
Shaq ego and immaturity shows man. He’s talking like a superstar which I get but need to be objective instead of being stubborn and arguing like a child.
Jimmy told Minnesota "Pay me!" Told Philly "Tobia Harris over me?!" now he wants an extension. He is rightly focused on the goal - make as much money as you can while you can, but if you have one more year on your contract, you have to live up to it. The door swings both ways
When Ernie has that kinda of reaction to your opinion that’s how you know your argument is out the window. I’m not surprised Shaq going that route and essentially defending Jimmy’s behavior why because he did himself years ago. Orlando, and LA.
Shaq is missing that your play in your "contract year" is not only about you current team trying to pay you more but to OTHER teams as well. If they see you half assing and not being a team first player, why would they offer you superstar level money?
I'd probably still have Michael Beasley as the king of underachievers in the NBA. But Shaq is possibly the greatest underachiever in terms of players who had a legit chance of being in the GOAT conversation.
@ I'm not disagreeing. I think it had more to do with clash of egos than Shaq's work ethic. Kobe you could always see wanted to lead his own team, but that wasn't happening while Shaq was still the man.
Even by Shaquille's own logic it doesn't make sense. Why would another team give Butler a contract if he is showing that he doesn't honor his contracts? Every team is going to be nervous that he'll sign and then immediately demand to receive more than the contract he signed, not get it, and then not play hard. Human nature also means recognizing that if you don't honor your deals, you end up making LESS money, not more, because no one will hire you.

Thats right, you are still paid to play today not after your contract ends. Show up and play while you are under contract and shut up. Then when the new contract happens go play that.
Shaq doesn't know how to back off no matter how wrong and silly he sounds saying it. He's basically saying to all the player that have an option out on their contract the next season and are not getting an extension to stop playing and being professionals for the season they ARE under contract for until they get traded or get whatever they want. And that's why we don't see true professionals in the NBA anymore.
Shaq's gonna say that since you only got a 2 year deal, you gotta fill up at the halfway point, so if you don't have a full tank/ contract at 1 year, you gotta go from 1 to 3 back to 1.
Shaq, "What if I tear a knee and get hurt?" Exactly, which is why MIA would be reluctant to extend a player who will be 37 years old. It's not about not wanting him. It's about how much they can trust having an aging star player taking up much of their salary cap. And Butler throwing a fit will make ownership and coaches not want him for the drama and other teams not want him because who knows how long he'll be happy for them, how hard he'll play, how healthy he'll be, etc. If you're 35 and want a significant contract, show that you're still worth it. He's averaging 17 PPG, the lowest since year three in the league. 4.8 APG, his lowest in 6 years. 5.2 RPG, his lowest in 7 years. 30 minutes per game, his lowest since year two in the league. MIA is a 9-seed currently. He don't wanna keep to his end of the contract he signed, fine. Sit at home and don't get paid a dime. Sit out next year too.
Man...this is why the NBA is declining in my opinion. The players dont love the game like the game loves them. I mean are you crazy Mr Butler?!!!! You have a contract for 50M+ dollars and you dont want to play?! Practice?! This is crazy...just imagine the other way around

players nowadays doesnt owe anyone anything, look at ben simmons, embiid, zion, (before harden) etc
Shaq has 4 rings. That’s all he knows 😅
Shaq is part of how the NBA got like this.
Shaq knows more than that. He knows twinkies and milk duds, too.
"Rangs, Ernie"
@@edutainme7265 You don't know the history. LeDiddy started all this non-sense booolshit "get together with foes" "if you can't win em, join em" movement! You don't know The Decision. SMFH. Real winners don't join the enemies!
This is why Kobe had issues with him.
Glad to see Shaq still upholds his "I can never be wrong, it's always the FO/GM thats wrong or doing me wrong" attitude
3:33 I rarely agree with Kenny on anything, but he made a pretty good point here...then Shaq saying "Nice analogy, but it doesn't match"....smh. Place his arguments at the top spot for Shaqtin a Fool.
The real fool was Shaq all along.
If $50 million ain't enough to "go all out" WHY WOULD THEY GIVE HIM MORE? 😂😂😂
Jimmy Butler really showing his emo side with this tantrum
Shaq’s logic makes no sense.
@@juantorres9757 gracious of you to assume Shaq is even capable of logic
@@juantorres9757 Pay him no mind. He just Shaqtin-a-fool right now.
It has nothing to do with logic, it has to do with feeeelings.
@@jslberto He's capable but he fails continuously, making him illogical.
Only if all us Lil people felt the same with our Lil jobs 😂
Boss don’t wanna give me a raise? 3 day weekend every weekend.
I like this logic 🤣 🤣🤣
Jimmy Butler is getting 50 million in a state with no state income tax get real Shaq
No wonder the nba ratings are down! It’s turned to a real life drama show.
Shaq too old to have this mindset, that’s not human nature, a human child’s nature maybe
Well selfishness is human nature lol.
Shaq with the 20-40-80 gas, half full logic again.
Shaq ego and immaturity shows man. He’s talking like a superstar which I get but need to be objective instead of being stubborn and arguing like a child.
Shaq one of my cousins works for one of your companies. Let's see if that logic applies to him his up for a contract renewal.
Jimmys contract isn't even up! Two years left on it ugh. That's what makes it worse & Shaq's attitude even more pathetic!
Forget about all out. The way Jimmy is playing, he's not even giving you the bare minimum
Jimmy told Minnesota "Pay me!"
Told Philly "Tobia Harris over me?!"
now he wants an extension.
Shaq should take an L on this debate. He isn't much of an analyst anyways. His main response to any argument is "I got 4 rings". Just take the L dawg.
This what kobe was talking about lol
Exactly lol
Shaq is the most successful underachiever in history, and he's given the internet enough evidence to explain why.
I'd probably still have Michael Beasley as the king of underachievers in the NBA.
But Shaq is possibly the greatest underachiever in terms of players who had a legit chance of being in the GOAT conversation.
@robertsmith2088 He had the chance to be the next Wilt and he was too lazy to try. That's why Kobe got sick of him.
@ I'm not disagreeing. I think it had more to do with clash of egos than Shaq's work ethic.
Kobe you could always see wanted to lead his own team, but that wasn't happening while Shaq was still the man.
If you wanna get a raise, you don't stop working...
Top 5 Kenny analogy of all time, was not expecting that
Even by Shaquille's own logic it doesn't make sense.
Shaq reasoning is LITERALLY how a child thinks. Baffled 😂 Responsibility, sense of obligation, etc not a child's and Shaq problem 😂😂
I dont understand how people like Shaq, don't understand that this is the attitude that is killing basketball. The, "I'm a star and even though I say I'm a professional and signed a contract, now i'm sad cause you hurt my feelings and im going to take my basketball and go home" attitude. So many of the stars today either dont play or just complain about, whatever it is they are complaining about. Who would want Butler on their team? How many times has he done this?
Shaq just proved why the nba is the way it is
Ernie Johnson at 1:53 with the Ralph wiggum when Lisa broke his heart bruh "aaah"
POOR Jimmy ! Lets take a moment and pray for him and hope he will survive in this very difficult time.
Shaq never work on real job that requires professionalism
Chuck seems to be the person I agree with the most on the show when it comes to basketball.
Kobe I apologize
Shaq is Shaqtin-a-fool right now.
if wade didnt get one, butler aint getting one. its that simple. hes not even on chris bosh's level.
🎯🎯🎯🎯
You gotta be kidding. What did Chris Bosh do as the number 1 option 🤔. Never got outta the 1st round with Toronto. Bosh left Georgia Tech after 1 season. The next season Georgia Tech went to the Final Four WITHOUT him. Played for the national championship. Bosh was the 3rd option on a Superteam. Jimmy Butler took outcasts and free agents to the NBA Finals twice. You Casuals need to stop smh
@@mongoslade277 okay cool. he ain't doing it anymore. he old and wants more money. at this stage he ain't better than bosh and being available for your team counts
@@luisgonzalez-bf7qw I don't think he's that much now but look at Zion. I don't think he's played 82 games combined in 5 years but he gets Jimmy Butler money. That organization disrespected all of their stars including LeBron
@@luisgonzalez-bf7qw Chris Bosh couldn't take a team by himself past the 2nd round. Jimmy took free agents and G- leaguers to the Finals BY himself. Twice
Fun fact: Jordan donated his entire Wizards salary to victims of 9/11. He played basketbetball for FREE. What player today would do that?
Jordan didn't play for free. He made more being the team President & GM. That salary he got as a player was a tax write off
I'm surprised Shaq didn't bring up the rings and say how he has more rings than all 3 of them combined and by that his explanation is more valid and true.
Shaq is exposing how the modern players only care about themselves.
"human nature is kicking in"
It sure is Shaq.
The human that is running the heat organization (Pat Riley) said "we aren't giving the employee that refuses to work more money".
Shaq sounds like those McDonald's employees that are demanding 20 an hour to work 15 hours a week and still get my order wrong 🤣
Classic example of self entitled. Fulfil your contract
According to Shaq's logic, then Pat Riley can ask for the money back for this year if Jimmy announces he doesn't want to play.
Shaq is too stubborn to listen and find out that he is way wrong!
Thats right, you are still paid to play today not after your contract ends. Show up and play while you are under contract and shut up. Then when the new contract happens go play that.
3:10 my dawg Shaq sleep talking 😂
Lol
Shaqs one of those guys that makes no sense but has to be right.
Shaq doesn't understand that it's not personal it business. The only one that's making it personal is Jimmy.
Shaq, "What if I tear a knee and get hurt?"
Exactly, which is why MIA would be reluctant to extend a player who will be 37 years old.
Miami's owner is a billionaire so as many us paid more than Jimmy who did nothing compared to what he did. Even Bam got paid 165M so stop the bs about money poor fans.
This is the first time I’ve seen everyone pile on Shaq on a subject
Because his take was really that indefensible, and the subject is really that serious.
Love Shaq but he wrong on this one. You signed a contract. You owe your teammates and the fans of Miami to play your hardest
I don’t agree with Shaq. Play out your contract.
I love how Shaq says "yeah WE know', and both of the other former NBA players disagree with him 🤣
That is a shocking take from a really smart guy.
You may be the first person in history to refer to Shaq as smart.
@@lf2334 Do you think his commentary is the only metric for his intelligence? Look at his business footprint - he is a stone cold killer. Dont get it twisted.
Mr.Sensitive
The attitude that Shaq is saying JB has is why fans don't care about the NBA anymore.
Shaq if you sign a contract it’s your duty to uphold. Your feelings are irrelevant
Can we just take a sec to appreciate EJ? He knows how to perfectly guide and moderate any room with these guys. Love how he lets them argue at the perfect time, and when to move the topic other times
You honor your current contract cause that's called being a professional and acting with integrity. Don't wanna be there, ask for a trade. But still act professionally. Being an entitled baby is a terrible look and you can't get defensive when people rightfully question your character for it.
💯💯💯

Shaq is NEVER Wrong Bess his Heart.... LoL 😅
Shaq’s got a heart that’s big and strong,
But even legends can get it wrong.
Bless his soul, he’s ridin’ for Jimmy,
But fifty mil ain’t sittin’ pretty.
Jimmy is a bum. It's always about him.
He took the Heat to the finals twice with undrafted starters, you’re out of line
Butler has led scrubs to the finals twice...Meanwhile you got players like Ben Simmons out here robbing the bank
@biznesslizard out of line? No one Is paying a 36 Yr old who is now injury prone max extension.
Yea all star bam adebayo@@biznesslizard
That's what happens when you grow up and get nurtured under White folks.🤣🤣
Ernie was disgusted 😂😂😂
Can’t agree with Shaq on this one. Every job in the world you show up and get paid, just you ask for a raise but you been doing things wrong or not qualified to get one than their not going to give you one. Now if you don’t show up or don’t do the things right because they denied your requested than they will either fire you or give you some sort of penalty. Jimmy leaving the team is like leaving your job to work somewhere else.
Love shaq but sometimes he irks me.
The entitlement is insane.
This clearly hit a soft spot w/Shaq because this is most likely exactly what he did.
Wouldn't honor his contract, made a hissy fit so he could get traded.. standard diva persona, we see you Shaq
Ps. no wonder you hate the knicks, true blue collar orginization where the team captain takes a pay cut just so hits boyz can join in & get paid
Shaq not realizing that's childish mentality: "You don't want me? No, I don't want you" and "After all I've done for you..."
If shaq got paid the way he fills his gas tank he might change his mind
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ej said we are about to do a third lap saying the same thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't get the "human nature" part. Sounds more like selective entitlement. 😅😅😅
Human nature also includes hard work, dedication and loyalty. If you a decent human.
Shaq is sorta slow sometimes
