Usually when you hear, "we are #4 for takeoff" it's a 15 min wait. All 4 of these guys off in 75 seconds....
They are probably flying in formation, in which case it's possible only one takeoff clearance is given.
If they do parallel takeoff, it would be less than 30 sec.
In Atlanta, when you hear that you're #4 for takeoff, it's about 2-3 minutes. Not quite as tight as these guys flying in formation, of course, but it's still interesting to watch a departure start rolling before the one in front of them is even off the ground. Well, at least in normal, non-Covid times, back when air travel was still a thing.
Not on single runway airports, they have some insane take off times
@@mutantgeralt Oh, I'm talking about per runway. During normal times, ATL will have 2 aircraft departing simultaneously about every 30-45 seconds while 3 more are landing at the same time on the other 3 runways. ATL is busy. - lol - But, yes, at airports where arrivals and departures share the same runway, it's not as efficient.
Traveled weekly through a lot of airports for 30 years (my business travels). Seen a few F-15 and F-16 Guard Units departing at various fields. It gets everyone's attention. Always got mine.
I got the pleasure one summer waiting for my flight out of Traverse City, MI of getting to watch a Blue Angel preparing for a show. I was sittin playing my GameBoy when that pretty blue caught my eyes and I thought "NO WAY!" (I saw the Blue Angels years earlier at an airshow in Maine with my Aunt and Uncle). I watched it take off expecting to see it disappear but nope, got to watch some low passes and barrel rolls, few vertical lifts and him land again. Shortly after his landing they boarded my flight and heading to home I was.
Just imagine bringing the Wright brothers back from the dead and showing them this. "See what you started".
When I was in the Navy, my "A" school was in Pensacola, which is the home of the Blue Angels, they would train over our heads a couple/three times a week.. they would also do something rather interesting and unexpected. They would do mock attack runs on us, outside the mega building (a large field with sidewalks where most of the foot traffic for the training command was). It wasn't scary or anything, I just began to realize how terrifying it would be to be an enemy of the United States (any country with modern jet aircraft). They looked like death demons diving on us, and if they were shooting... there would be nothing we could do. One of the fun thoughts I would have would be to put myself in the shoes of essentially any person in history, up until about 1890-1900's time frame. I'm sure more intelligent people from those eras could have gathered that it was a machine... but a scared idiot would have certainly thought it was an actual demon, or something from hell. The 300 Spartans would have broken ranks and dove in the ocean at the sight of it. Hector would have shit is pants and fainted. The absolute hopelessness of it is crazy to me, and we've come this far in a little over 100 years. I'm sure the tech has somewhat plateaued, but I wonder what if there will be anything that could ever scare us with mystery in the same way a modern fighter banking to strafe Napoleons Army would. I wonder if Napoleon ever felt like that about contemporary military tech from his era.

F-15 Strike Eagles from Seymour Johnson, NC, AFB (SJ on the tail). I was a USAF Master Instructor who taught the armament that could be loaded on this machine. One of the baddest in the inventory...🔥🔥🔥
About 5 miles from my house. Heard one taking off while I was typing this. Eating at Wilber's can be noisy at times!

The commercial aviation jockeys certainly made more but the Eagle pilots have/had that waiting for them as a career if they chose, no? Plus, while spooling up the engines and setting off down a runway in a 777 or A-380 is cool, I think leaving the earth with twin afterburners firing and full noise blast is way cooler.....to listen to and watch. Imagine if those Eagles were leaving something other than a Class Bravo airspace and were able to put their aircraft into a performance or power climb-out? Now, what a show..... and yes, don't tell me that current gen. commercial aviation passenger liners can power climb also.....true, but rarely seen.

A C5A was flying by it self's and out of the middle of now where, a F16 blazed by and did a few loop to loops, spins , sonic booms, & flare outs. After showing off for 15 mins, the F16 pulls along side the C5A, and called the pilot up on the horn.
F16 pilot: Hey slow poke C5A you can't do what I can do!
C5A Pilot: Hey F16 that was quite impressive., but I bet you can't do what I can do!
So for the next 15mins the C5A flew in a perfectly straight line, nothing outstanding nor impressive by any means. After 15 mins the F16 pilot got on the horn.
F16pilot: Hey C5A pilot, I'm still waiting for you to show me what your going todo?
C5A pilot: Oh you missed it, I got up stretched my legs, walked to the john and grabbed a cup of coffee and ate a donut.

I used to work with predators/mq-1s, I loved to give wake turb calls to whoever was stuck behind the lil bastards.
My son is now in AF technical school learning how to troubleshoot electrical problems in F15s. I'm a very proud father, as you can imagine.

Years ago, in San Juan, we were siting on the taxi way ready to turn onto the runway. The Captain said we had to wait. Two F-16's flying side by side, came down and did a touch and go landing in front of us. It was like a close-up mini airshow.
I worked at an airport for about 11 years and things like that were pretty common. My favorite was the 2 A10s making a couple of low passes down the runway, pulling straight up into the vertical, then rolling out and heading on their way. We had quite a few vintage warbirds fly in, too, including the B17G “Nine O Nine” that crashed a couple years ago.

I grew up in Isla Verde in the 70s right next to the runway and would work my way through the chain link fence and watch the P.R. National Guard F104's take off at night side by side flames 20 feet long coming out the back.
The Azores are a nice place for this kind of watching. You have potential to see any aircraft, and because it’s a civilian airfield, you can get some good views at the certain areas.

That flight crew had the best seat in the house. Also, their takeoff roll with full afterburner never ceases to amaze me at how short it is.

Probably brought back good memories for tower, pilot, and ramp folks who were in the Air Force.
Have the great memory and pleasure to have been in the Air Force, stationed at Spangdahlem AB, Germany, working on the flightline as a a.g.e. mechanic, stationed with 2 squadrons of F-16's, 1 squadron of F-15's and 1 squadron of A-10's. Every day for 3 years I got to watch these things from the front row. Little known fact, the F-16 is louder when taking off then the F-15. The F-16 gave me goose bumps every time.
Those are F-15E Strike fighters, that is one bad ass bird.

I initially thought that they were C models and was about to say that. Then I decided to not be stupid and read the letters on the vertical stabilizer. I looked that up and they were indeed the E model. I then proceeded to remember that the C model is a single seater.🤦♂️ I can clearly see the WSO.

That was actually a pretty weak takeoff for F-15s! Their full power takeoffs are amazing! Guessing they held back because of their location. Props to the camera man - the footage was incredibly well shot!

Its very gratifying to taxi to your runway and given the "clear for take off" from ATC with an audience of civilian aircraft, and knowing that " i am the Baddest dog " at this airport !!

I saw something similar years ago when I was in college back in the 70's when the F-15 was brand new. St. Louis Lambert Airport shared runways with McDonnell Douglas, the manufacturer. You could look across the field from the main terminal and see the new F-15's under contiguous canopies being finished or inspected or whatever their process was. I was at the airport one day waiting to board a flight when I had the pleasure of seeing one of the new planes take off on a far runway, retract its gear and then zoom almost straight up! Everyone in the terminal was appropriately impressed!
I spent 4 years working on F-15A/B’s from 76-80 at Langley AFB. These are F-15E’s . I loved these aircraft. Got to go all over place with them. Great memories.

@@matthewking37 They flew the F-106 when I was there. I loved watching the after burners on those planes. You’d get the boom when they lit. I was in the 27th. We had a lot of TDY back then.
As a former USAF from 50 years ago (V-N era), I'm just glad and feel so fortunate that those guys are on our side.
F15 has been a fine aircraft as were F-4 from my era. Next gen, F-22 and F-35 are even more amazing. I can only imagine what newer birds are being designed and tested out at Edwards, now. Stuff we may not see in my lifetime; but will leap over the specs of current aircraft.
But, don't discount some of the other hard-working aircraft, A-10 = Warthogs... that protect our ground troops and clean out all sorts of vehicles (aka tank killer) and other nasty folk. For nearly 45 years, I've heard ground pounders refer to WH as their best friend and the USAF pilots as their guardian angels. Amazingly tough aircraft... of about 700+ WH manufactured and commissioned into service only about 7 or 8 have actually had a mission prematurely terminated (aka shot down). Hard to believe. But, when one sees the tough shape of WH that some skilled pilots manage to keep them in the air and return to base, we can only marvel and applaud their skilled stick and rudder work.
The F15 is reputed to have never had a casualty in combat. It takes an entire F15 team to keep those birds flying. This speaks well of not only the aircraft, the flight crews, the technical aids aboard and via radio link, but the support crews back on base who "allow" jet jocks to fly "their" aircraft. If it weren't for the top-notch, well-trained mission support from the ground crews, those birds would be piles of metal scrap waiting to be transferred to the boneyard in Tucson.
A few years ago I went to the air show at Nellis in Vegas. The F-15 was by far the most impressive jet there.
50 years ago, in St. Louis, a star was born. Years later a record of 100+ to 0. I'm proud to have helped develop the logistic systems that built this beauty! Also, F-15s are born to use afterburner on takeoff, otherwise, they look like, well, just fast planes. Viking departure, baby. 1300 feet of runway and nose 90 degrees up. 50,000 feet in a minute. Damn, my jeans still get tight.
Also, a few decades ago an F-15A launched an anti-satellite missile that shot down a satellite in orbit. Many years later that pilot's son flew the same plane in a remembrance flight.

It appears these jets were patrolling the skies above Manhattan for the September 2019 UN meeting. A tanker was circling the city with them. Pretty fuckin badass. Stuff movies are made of.

seeing these everyday twice a day doing training at my base has made me desensitized. to bad they werent cleared for a quick climb or unrestricted climb since its a busy airport. Its still cool to see, and since its at JFK airport i can see why it was posted. Good camerawork btw

The old aircraft are cute. The Vietnam War was just not great. Some years ago, I have walking along The Wall in DC a few times. But anyway, aircraft old and new looks good. I still live seeing B-52s flying.
I can bet just about every pilot in the big commercial jets had a tear in their eye seeing this and wishing it was them in the pilots seat of those beauties.
Many commercial pilots are ex-fighter pilots from Air Force, Navy, Marines. They had years, if not decades, with those war birds.
Cases in point: Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III, the hero of Hudson river, an ex-USAF Phantom driver.
Tammie Jo Shults, another hero that saved her airliner and hundreds of passengers, a ex-Navy F-18 jock.
I am a current commercial pilot and ex airforce pilot, I flew A10s and 15s, some days I miss it, some days I don’t. What’s really nice about my current job is that I still get to fly aside from the better pay is that I don’t generally have to worry about someone shooting at me. It’s all fun though.

Years ago, I was on a flight at some airport in California - could have been LAX - and there were three F-15s that had made a landing there. Our plane taxied right next to them. It was crazy.
I remember this day, I was driving on the Belt parkway near Springfield Blvd when I heard the booming sound those jets made during their takeoff. I said out loud to my wife who was sitting next to me had to be military jets taking off to make such a loud noise. Glad you were able to film them. Great vid.

I remember when as a 19 year-old I was very lucky to get a summer job at the massive McDonnell Aircraft plant at the St Louis airport working on the very first blocks of what was then the brand-new F-15. At the time McDonnell was still building F-4 Phantoms for export. Regarding this video, I don't think it hurts one bit for the pilots and passengers of foreign airlines to get a look at such nice examples of American military aircraft.

As someone who is stationed at seymour johnson AFB (where these guys are from) i can tell you this is a accurate representation of how they take off ALL DAY LONG! Even at night you can here them up there flying around.

Your right, In the early eighties i lived in Hounslow England south of Heathrow, and had the concord take off over our house .So i know the sound of after burners. As a Kiwi living there .We never saw anything like that back home. Sky hawks and the occasional Australian early bombers. I now have lived on the Central coast of New south Wale. Aust. And i regularly am around Newcastle airport which doubles as Civilian and Military. Work;s well. I have been as close as 100 metres from a Super Hornet Taking off. It was early morning. And i was in the car park which is close to the strip. 6 of them took off using the after burners. They even waved as i waved at them .

I got to see a group take off, I believe it was the large airport in Phoenix AZ. Had to sit for an extra minute to let them go. Was worth the wait to see them from my little window. They took off in pairs.
It happens all day everyday here in Jacksonville, Fl since the Air National Guard shares the runway with civilian aircraft. Also Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Mayport all have various military aircraft flying around all day.

I had a physician coworker started with the F-15C @ Langley. Transferred to Seymour Johnson., F-15E. He was shot down the first night of Gulf 1 by a SAM. He and his WSO died. The Clinic @ Seymour is named for him. He was a great physician and loved flying.

I worked in the Control Tower at Luke AFB, AZ, where they first introduced the F-15 Eagle. We had a massive ramp full of F-4 Phantoms, another smaller area with Luftwaffe F-104 Starfighters, and now the Eagle had arrived! It was one hell of an Adrenalin rush, to have all of these mixing in the traffic pattern. They requested unrestricted climb to FL410. Albuquerque center with coordination with Phoenix approach would approve it, with a restraint. The climb had to be made within an radius of 5 miles from the center of the airbase. Here we go!, those not working a control position, ran out to the catwalk balcony around the tower cab to witness the climb. The most impressive display of man and machine working together. Amazing,!, you have to see it to appreciate it.

DAMN... Seeing those ground vehicles out in front of the jet really puts into perspective how massive they are. Like, everyone knows they're big but unless you've seen a fighter jet up close in person you really don't understand the scale and size. The same goes for any aircraft but people I've talked to seem to underestimate the size of military jets more often than anything else.

Was lucky enough to get an incentive ride in F-15 during my time in USAF. Most fun one could have with their pants on!
I got a ride in an F101 VooDoo once. High performance takeoff from Hamilton AFB (no longer around but just north of San Francisco). 1 min to 20,000 ft and mach 1, 1 more min to 35,000 and mach 2. Machbusting is quite an experience that must be felt because it can't really be explained.

@@Chris1966- Cool. I got to RAFL in April 93 and I think the last F-111 just took off right after I arrived and the F-15e just came off training status. Also right after, the remodel of the phase hanger was just completed. We moved from the old makeshift shop into it. I think either late 93 or early 94, we got the C's from Egland AFB, FL.
I left May of '96. I'm a civilian but live right next to Ramstein AB.

Good news is Mildenhall is staying open and Fairford is taking the Reconnaissance role. Alconbury, Woodbridge and Bentwaters all sadly faded away with only Alconbury operating non flying role.
I’m currently at Shady J for the past 5yrs. (I’m AGE) So fascinating knowing I’ve probably high-fived the wings of these aircraft just because I could. XD Haha. They look to be with blue, “Eagles” 334th AMU used for training.
My favorite at our local airshow. Love it when they go pure vertical right after takeoff. Goosebumps every time.
The technical term for that maneuver is “self-yeeting” or the “autoyeet”.
Saw an F-15 demo at an airshow at McDill AFB in Tampa a long time ago. Pilot held about a 45deg AOA just off the ground, and just sort of drifted downrange at a bit over a walking pace , almost hovering on his exhaust, then firewalled it disappeared straight up. You sure can have fun when your max thrust exceeds your takeoff weight! :D
Back a few years ago, we were flying from Vancouver Canada to Toronto, the captain came over the speaker and said we have some guest with us, well, the Blue Angels flying in formation were just below us for about a minute or so, what a feeling that was...

Doesn’t take long for them to get airborne.
That's because they are lighter than most airliners but I also suspect they are designed for that in case they need to take off and land in improvised runways in a conflict

@@kuckoo9036FOR INSTANCE... if a fighter jet just lands then takes off again, JFK has to shut down 2, count em 2 runways. They land on one turn over too the other runway and take off..which requires planes to stop and wait on the tarmac at the very least (+5 min) prior to fighters landing. Then they land. Turn around at the end of runway 1 over onto the 2nd runway(+5min)Then they pause, adjust their nut sacks and get authorization from ATC for a clear take off while they are sitting there taking up 2 runways mind you(+5min). THEN THEY FINALLY TAKE OFF(+2min)..... Jesus h christ man...
May have been part of training. Landing and taking off from Public Airports is part of training. They weren't armed.
More likely stop and go for fuel and crew rest. They were out of Seymour-Johnson AFB in the Carolinas.

Based on the date of the video, this was just before the UN General Assembly which generally has fighters patrolling apparently. So might have been training related to that specifically.

F15 E models out of Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. They're taking it easy. I used to love watching F15 pilots rolling off and putting the nose straight up about halfway down the runway. They'd climb to 10K and roll over. You could see the sun flash off the canopy as they flipped it. They're old tech, the last fighter that can survive an EMP strike. If their electronics fail they can still fly by the stick since it has actual cable control. The new fighters crash without computers to fly them.
Our son in law flew Strike eagles out of Seymore Johnson 2 different asignments. He's flying F35's up in AK now.

@@frederikvanweezendonk1124 The F-22's are located on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Anchorage. Eilson AFB in Fairbanks recently began receiving the F-35's. The company I work for regularly receives AF contract work on JBER. Incredible to see the F-22s up close. Living in Anchorage, you will frequently hear the rumble of the Raptors overhead. Nothing gives a city a sense of security quite like that.

Having served with the 7th TFS (49th TFW) at Holloman AFB, NM in 1982 and 1983, being out to the flight line watching F-15s start up, taxi, take off, land and return was an everyday occurrence. However, it's still nice to see, but not impressive. Now, that said, you show me a video of the USAF Thunderbirds or an SR-71 taking off, then my heart stops in awe.
