After reviewing this particular video, I admit, I probably spent too much time on the sub request portion but I am always going to request your support in the form of a like and a subscription. I have been making content for quite some time and I hardly ever requested subs. Since I have Incorporated the reminder to sub in my videos, my channel has experienced more growth all around. Again, I admit that I spent too much time on this video but, I am going to always request your support in the form of a like and a sub. In the future, it will only take 5 to 10 seconds. Nick Murdic nah you didn’t do anything wrong , if people don’t like it they can go elsewhere
Hey great video.
If you name 3 bulbs the same thing can they be controlled as a group rather than individually?
If so I'm going to buy these tmr lol
Thanks
I subbed. F the haters. It is special when someone makes a how to/demo video that isnt confusing. That is most important.
I'll sub to your channel if you can tell me how to have Alexa set the scene to rainbow, I can get her to change the color to blue, turn on, turn off, or dim lights without any issue. But if I tell her to set one of the scenes from the Geeni app, she doesn't know how to set that setting. I listened to your sub speech and watched the whole video hoping you would cover it since you were using a google home but don't think you touched on it and I can't find any information on it anywhere.
Wow. I just bought this light yesterday and my google device came in today. I was having a hard time connected it. And I found your video!!!!! Thx U. Wish I good like this video a million times !!!
Thank for the compliment and I am happy it helped!
@@Murdic3k how do I put my internet to a 2.4 ... it's now 5G
It is provider specific. I recommend googling it for your service provider. It usually involves entering 191.168.1. followed by a suffex specific to your service provider and turning off your 5 GHz temporarily (until device is set up) and turning it back on.
LOL that golden harvest intro
Having issues connecting the bulb. Doesn’t flash when trying to connect
Get them subs. All good. Support your time and hustle. Peace. Thanks for the video. Phillips Hue is too expensive
I just subbed and I'm on a mission to get you to 2k! Your videos are fantastic man. I don't hear you begging for subs at all. Most people truly beg even when they have a hundred thousand subs. It's all good man
Thanks! I really appreciate it 😊
Thx so much for providing this review and tutorial. I'll be picking up a few boxes for my home lighting as well as Christmas gifts for family and friends. Have a safe and happy Christmas.
I just picked up 4 of these and they're awesome! No hub required like the Phillips brand ones
Thank you
Very cool. I already have three of the cameras and three electrical outlets. I wasn't sure about the bulbs but your video has convinced me to give them a try.
Liked and subscribed. Have a great day!
Thanks man. I am going to pick up some of those cameras soon.
I highly recommend them, they have a better picture and better night vision that my Lorex system. The video quality is excellent.
I appreciate the well made and in depth review! Definitely helped me make a decision
Thanks! I really appreciate it. It wasn't perfect but I'm happy it helped. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great review and tutorial Nick!

I have a mobile computer repair/tech business im starting up and im starting to get into home automation . I use nothing but merkury stuff because it needs NO HUB and it's utterly fantastic. everybody is happy with it
Do you have the ability to control the devices while away from the home on your phone?
@@lupitasamazingadventures5007 Yes. You can do that! It's through the app and they are all controlled with the geeni app! it's not connected with your phone, it's connected with your home's wifi. So you can be somewhere else and still turn the lights on and off. Or if you set up a camera through this company, you can also access your camera from anywhere because all of it is on your home's wifi.
we are living in a new age now. and it's only going to keep getting better!
Does the app let you know if it is off/on?
@@lupitasamazingadventures5007 yes. you can also turn it manually on and off, and the "on" circle is glowing when the lights are on, it is dark when the lights are off.
you can set custom schedules according to sunrise and sunset. if at all somebody accidentally turns the power switch "off". you can turn the switch back on, refresh the app and swiping down, holding a bit, and the light will get sensed again due to the wifi sensor in the bottom of every light bulb
Hey, I know I'm a little late, but can you connect 2 of them and control both at the same time?
I love it! Thanks so much for the information
In Canada they were about $18 including tax at Walmart. I bought 4 of them and got them working OK. If 1050 lumens seems to only apply the color white only not to the other colors.
Any other color (ie blue or green yellow and etc) seems that it is less than 200 lumen (It is like lighting your living room with one or two outdoor Christmas light bulbs that you get on those string of lights, no joke, no exaggeration.
The upside is that they are cheap and if you want to experiment this might be a good option. I cannot speak to their durability. They would be a fun thing for a kids room most definitely, lots of hours of enjoyment. Connect with Google Assistant and they are most awesome. You can turn on and off your lights remotely from anywhere on the planet with an internet connection. You can assign the bulbs nick names through Google Assistant that will make voice commands more consistent.
I just bought these bulbs at 9.99 EA at Walmart. Waiting for them to arrive. Hopefully I won't have a problem with the installation.
Thanks for review... Yeah, these lights work great with Google and Amazon Smart devices...
Maybe when your saying the hot word "Hey Google " you should mute the volume.. You said the hot word in my opinion way to many times driving my devices crazy. I had to hurry and turn my volume down to get through this video... Anyways keep up the good work as for as being informative and walking us through the process... THANKS ✌🏾
Thanks for watching!
I need help it is not connecting and it’s telling me to hook it to my hotspot
Forg rain same
Make sure you're internet is 2.4 GHZ?
@@conhip how do I get my net 2.4g...... I have 5g right now
Just got this today at Walmart, and it's doing exactly what I wanted. I love the brightness adjustment on the white light, but I feel I won't be using the colors too much. I was worried about the brightness adjustment. I don't have dimmer lights in my house, but somehow, this app controls the brightness of the bulb without the light bulb being attached to a dimmer circuit. What magic is working here?!!? Overall, it's doing what I wanted: remote control light bulb and I like the fact I can change the brightness of the light so it isn't as harsh as it is at full power.
My sentiments exactly! Thanks for watching!
@RenegadeX23 They do not seem to dim as well as Philps Hue does but for what I need them for they are fine
@@dragonson72 Yeah I noticed that too, but they are serving their purpose for sure. No hub needed which is a plus, and the fact I can control them via Alexa or their app...that's more than enough for me.
@RenegadeX23 Glad that help
aside from all of the negative comments i went out and bought two blubs and they work great
for what i use them for, i set them up with alexa and off i go! can't beat the price!! thanks for the video
Are 2 bright enough to light up an entire room and are all the colors going to be able to light up my room? Btw whats the price for 2
@@luisvenegas385 2 bulbs will cost you around $25 at Walmart and yes they will light up a room very well
At Sams club currently you can get a 4 pack for 40$
Just subbed bro I just got these lights also great bulb
Looked like you used the chrome cast home app to add the bulbs to Google voice. Though I had to go in the Google voice settings.
Also for some odd reason I have two bulbs and tried to set a 6pm schedule though only one set correctly other just picked a random wrong time.
Just wanted to say, THANK YOU, for explaining how to get my Merkury bulbs work, I didn't tell anyone and I believe I can hook them up with no problem, Now it's down to getting them to work with, HEY GOOGLE. Thanks Again, James
Thanks for watching!
This is great video, super thorough and deep. Keep it up !
I have 4 and they work great
Mine are still rocking!
These bulbs actually have a lot more cool behaviors that can be controlled with your voice assistant. Naming is important - you have to be careful. In addition to not having two devices with the same prefixes, you should avoid names that have suffixes that could be interpreted as colors. For instance, "Lamp stand" is a bad name because "stand" can be interpreted as "tan". When you give any command to that lamp, it is likely it will set the color to "tan"... Just one example.
After linking, you can give the bulb a different name in the app and the google assistant - it will then respond to either name. Also, you get get much lower brightness levels if you choose a dim neutral color and then set the brightness low. The color mode uses RGB LEDs of much lower brightness compared to the while light mode. If you want a very dim light, set it the color to gray, tan, or brown and then command it to 1%. If you do this before going to bed at night, when you wake up in the morning and command the bulb back on again, it will be very dim and won't hurt your eyes. You can then then gradually ask to make it brighter, or switch over to white light mode as you eyes adjust to the light.
Great video
Want to know if have option synch music from external source by the miceophone of the cell..
How many light you can link togther by group
Thanks
Can’t
Hi Nick Murdic, can you use the bulb like a regular bulb too. I mean, can we put the light switch on and off manually and light up the bulb without mobile device or Google home if you don't have your mobile device near you?
Great review on the bulb! Quick question. Does the app allow for grouping bulbs together. My master bedroom has multiple sockets and would like to be able to control scenes together instead of individually. Thanks in advance!
Great question. The answer is yes. It does allow for grouping and works wonderfully.
@@Murdic3k🙌🙌🙌 yessssss! Awesome, I'm most definitely picking some up today! Thanks for the quick response and awesome review
It didn’t connect for me so I just used a different phone number and it worked now thanks for the help!
That is my biggest concern with these digital assit. I have six plugs and two lights and each has its own name and I can't remember them all. I use the Echo dot. They need to add sensors so it knows which room you are in and what's available in that room. Like on Star Trek if you are in a room and say lights it only turns on lights in that room and doesn't ask you if you mean lights or lights 2 and so on.
@N2tech, You could assign lights with unique names and use routines, all through your Alexia app.
I have to try this on growing cannabis this might be the future breakthrough for diffrent spectrum
Let me know how it works
So I am having an "issue" with my bulb. When it is on and I'm not doing anything it kinda flashes every 5 or 10 min, does the same thing with it off, flashes just for half a second but enough to drive me mad! Any suggestions?
Great vlog..BTW, I am not seeing schedule on my apps. Do you have any ideas? Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for watching. I don't know. I am using a Pixel 2 phone. The only thing that I can think of is perhaps an older phone or maybe iOS but those are just guesses.
Mute saying google next time you set mine off multiple times now listening to music because of you, lol.
They work but there’s such a huge hassle to set up but once they’re all set up it’s so worth it
Can you link a bunch together for like having 4 on a ceiling fan?
While I haven't done it, I imagine one could.
Great job showing off these smart bulbs. Actually watched this while standing beside them at WalMart and you helped me decide if I should pick em up. Now that I have them at home and installed, I must say they are pretty decent bulbs. They are a little on the warm side, and the brightness when they are colored isn't amazing, but for $17cdn they are pretty darn good. Thanks for the video my dude. L&R :)
Ha! I'm doing the same right now
The white ones were 8$ cad at walmart for black Friday, definitely worth it
Just buy the regular ones I didn't need the color ones why I only need it for my lamp the plain white one is better the color ones is just waste of money but buy an double pack so yea i got One this year it's extremely bright
Golden harvest films LOL
I really like these paired with alexa. Not as good as hue but close enough and a pack of 2 cost 20$... a single hue is 60$...
The fact you dont need a hub makes this an absolute bargain in my opinion.
VapeKing but, if you have over a certain amount it can lag your WiFi
Can u explain what that hub is
It’s a station we’re all the lights connect to your router. It’s to make it more seemless
Can they be programmed to change colors randomly on their own - cycle through the colors?
Is that the into from old golden harvest movies
It is indeed!
Really enjoyed the video. Except at the end when you started messing with my Google home.... My phone locked it self out cause it couldn't recognize your voice and my house kept saying it didn't understand.
My bad. I meant to edit it out but got sidetracked. Thanks for watching🤟
Nick Murdic you did a great job at not only showing the product but also how to use it. I'm thinking about buying some for home. But not sure if it's right for me yet. I saw them at Walmart and they are the cheapest option but for my house I'm going to need around 25 bulbs and even at 13$ a bulb it's a large investment. I have a question you might know the answer to. Can you group the bulbs together?
Erwin Corea yes you can, it’s one of the features and I assume is pretty cool as I have only purchased one. I bought it for my grandmother so she doesn’t have to fiddle around with her lamp cord power switch. Also I use it as a way to tell her I love her by flickering it on and off periodically
how do i make my bulb brighter in color mode?? I can barely see it and i went online for help and nothing changed!!!
great video i couldnt get my voice recognition to work i tried changing my bulb name like 10 times but google would just keep searching stuff
What helped me was changing the name to numbers.
i recently got these from Wally World for my news centre, so far my biggest thing is remembering i can control them with Alexia and i turn the switch off lol
Wonderfully
Is there a way to get it to react to sound? For example, if you are playing music, have it change colors with the sound of the music?
MrStreetmedik I think you might need Phillips hue lights for that
Hi, good video, I have a question, how you turn the light to complete white again through of Google home. When I turn the light to specific color I can't get the light totally white with full brightness again.
Very interesting. I'm not sure. I had a similar problem. The issue in my case was that the three stage lamp switch wasn't turned all the way up. Good luck.
Help I can't find the skill geeni in Amazon echo
Hey since you own one of these bulb, just wanted to know if they are bright enough just before I purchase them. Should one of these bulbs be good enough to light up the room?
Great question! I need to explain that the white is considered "warm" but it's bright, however, the other colors aren't very illuminating at all. In my great room, It takes to but in the guest bedroom it takes one so it really depends on the size of the room.
Nick Murdic thank you!!!
I've got it all connected, and my Google home can turn it on and off. But, it won't let me set a different color on my Google home. How do make it change color?
Seems my google app doesn't have the screen yours does. I can't find the home settings to use the "+" symbol to add the Geeni app.
Thanks for watching. Thanks for mentioning that. The Google Home app had a fairly substantial upgrade since the release of this video. When I get more bulbs, I will do an update.
will it work without wifi ?
like if my internet goes out for a bit but i still have power?
As I understand it, you will be able to turn the bulb off and on manually but any smart features would be unavailable.
Question, do you you have to turn off and on the main switch of the lamp or just by using the app?
You can just use the app.
How can I tell my Google home to switch it to rainbow mode cause I cant only do that whit my phone and idk how to tell good to do it for me -.-
Any tips, I bought 2 but my google home is constantly saying Light 1 is not available or there is a problem with light 2 or etc. etc. Or that both arent available, etc. Any tips? Help?
Just bought one of these and a smart plug of the same brand and had the exact same issues with both. Going to the store right now to return them. I also have 2 tp link smart plugs and have had zero issues with them at all.
@Jess L, Try to assign each bulb a different name, make sure it is linked to your Geeni app. first then link to your Google Home I played with turning the light on and off a few times after getting it online through my phone before linking it to Alexia, hope this helps.
Do you know if it works with HomeKit?
How do you get to change the light?
I bought 5 so it better be good
Bought some for Black Friday hate that the box shows this bulb lighting egg shell white but it doesn’t have that capability only the soft white (yellow tint) color which is not at all what’s pictured
I have heard others say the same. Is your brightness turned all the way up?
Nick Murdic it’s turned all the way up it only does the soft white which has that yellow tint and I like the harsh white because I like to live in the future not in the days pre LED with tungsten bulbs
Thanks for sharing. I'm having a hard time finding bright lights that don't break the bank.
I had the same issue but the flood light is correct color as it should be
Can anyone help me I got two lights everything set up with geenie app and the two lights but when I try to pair it with Google home app I go to controls and I see my list of the two things I already got hit the + to link geenie log in to geenie it gos back to the list and dose nothing dose not show a linking bar like in this video I even left on for a wile and nothing what's going on please help
Mine just turns on like a regular bulb but that’s all☹️ nothing connects
Make sure your WiFi frequency is on 2.4ghz. Google the instructions set frequency for your specific isp.
Those of who hates the hub let me tell you the advantages. When you have several smart lightbulbs throughout the house it becomes cumbersome to your Wi-Fi network. So the hub mostly use different wave like rf signals than traditional wifi wave.
Thanks for sharing! I don't think people have an issue with the hub per say, I think it's the idea of purchasing something else. But you make a good point. Again thanks for moving the discussion forward. Happy Holidays!
@@Murdic3k let's face it. We're eventually all going to own several devices and it just keeps on adding to the network. If you have few places to cover or if you are new to the smart devices, it may be an excellent start. In fact that's what I exactly did and now I have too many devices on my network. I didn't like the idea of having another device (hub) on top of having a smarthome device.
Brightness when using colors is so dim, full brightness is like 15% compared to the white (more on the yellow side) light only.
How do I connect it to my google home
Does it work with Siri HomeKit voice control?
That's a great question. I don't know as I only have the Google Home Assistant. All I know is the device has an app for iOS.
I wonder if Google home had trouble differentiating between the digit 2 and the preposition "to” -- as in "turn cometlight to green". Also please mute whenever you say hot words such as OK Google so that you don't trigger the devices of all your viewers.
Currently, the lights are called play light 1 and play light 2. No problems so far. Sorry about the device hot word not being muted. That was brought to my attention early on in this video's release. It won't happen again.
@nickmurdic do you have to keep the light switch on and control the bulb from the app? Or is it ok to turn the switch off?
You can turn it on and off from the switch but you run the risk of resetting the bulb.
@@Murdic3k is it safe to keep it on

WalMart does sell a Bluetooth version. Its in a kit. I haven't tried it but it seems solid.
Heres why i returned mine.
The bulb was surprisingly big and stuck way out of where installed them.
The normal white light color is too yellow.
Bulbs are NOT dimmable via a wall switch.
With color mode the bulbs dim considerably.
Colors are a bit loud and not particularly soft.
Yeah the colors are pretty dim. I was unimpressed, after comparing it to a colored bulb I have; but I would only use the colors in the dark anyways.
Google works great with my Lifx lights, ceiling fans, and appliances in the kitchen.
I'm just starting to think about setting up some "smart" things and have what many may consider a dumb question. If I put a smart bulb in a lamp can it be turned on or off by only using a phone or Alexa, etc. Or, can it also be turned on or off by using the actual switch on the lamp itself. I know, probably a dumb question but "the only dumb question is the one that is not asked".
Not a bad question at all. You can turn it off manually with the switch, but you run the risk of resetting the device.
Is this enough to light a small bedroom from an overhead light?
Great question. Keep in mind that this is bulb produces a "soft" white light (along with the other colors). If you have ever used 60 watt soft white bulb to light up your room then yes this will work.
I can't connect the light with the geeni application??
I remember when you had to actually flip a switch to turn on the lights. Someday, no one will know how to roll up a window, turn a knob or flip a switch.lol. I can hear it now. " 911 whats your emergency" Uhhh hello, yes...ummm I cannot unlock my door and I cannot rembember how to turn on my porch light. Could you send someone out to help me? "
What are the prices for these type of Lights? I wanted to find out this well what are the differences between these lights and the lifx lights?
If I recall correctly, I paid 12.88 per bulb. I don't have lifx bulbs to compare.
do you need google assistant or is the app enough
The app is enough. Thanks for watching!
Is that a Gerber Remix??? :)
It is a Gerber but not the remix. The remix is Niiiice!
Hey So these you need your light switch on the wall to be on but won't it waste energy?
Great question. The energy used is just enough for the bulb to send and receive a WiFi signal. You wouldn't be using energy as if the bulb is on until it is actually shining. I hope that answers your question.
@@Murdic3k so it okay to leave the light switch on and turn off the bulb with voice using wifi and its not going waste energy
@@dubbeatdown That's my understanding of it.
Nick Murdic alright Awesome thanks so much! really appreciate it for replying back
Yeah it closes the circuit when off. That's essentially what the actual switch does. Like said already, it will consume enough power to stay connected to WiFi. That should be a tiny amount though. Pennies a month hopefully

If the lamp you're using is a three-step lamp, make sure you rotate the lamp switch to the brightest setting. I had this issue myself. If this isn't the issue, your bulbs may be defective.
Would this work with Samsung smartthings??
Great question. I'm not sure.
Good review thank you. I almost picked up a few of these the other day. They were only $12 a piece. I wish I would have now. Much better than I expected.

Mine wont blink help.... Pls
Mine doesn’t change color. Did I get the wrong model?
It's possible. You should probably exchange or return it.
Are these bright enough to replace all the bulbs in an apartment?
Depends on if you are going for soft white or daylight. If you are going for soft white then yes. If daylight, then you need a different bulb.
Yes but is it broght in a room is the question? Because your only showing a close up. Please respond anybody I'm sitting in Wal-Mart lol
The soft white light is bright in a room but the color modes are only bright enough to accent a room. I hope that helps
The privacy disclosure is scary ... it plainly says it will access and give out your data, your pictures, your videos, your contacts - everything on your phone they can have. Much like the latest junk from Facebook that people are upset about - I bought these but about to decide to take them back before I ever active the app because it basically gives them your phone.
Jefferson Sixx I noticed that too. But no one is talking about it.
So does everything else !.
no one cares anymore it’s not like anyone is actually going to do something about this it’s sad
Yes, there's a reason they're so cheap. Noone should be using this crap. It is very invasive and the app will harvest all of your information. While testing, I ran some captures against one of the devices and a smart phone with the app. The app and devices will phone home randomly to chinese servers. Tested on both the smart bulbs and the wifi camera. Irresponsible for the video to be up and not cover the security aspects.
I can use ok google on my phone to control it? I absolutely have to own a Google Home? I cant seem to set it up without.
You can only use your phone if it is compatible with the Google Assistant app. If your phone doesn't work with the Google Assistant app, then you will need a Google Home speaker.
