Vintage Guitar Oldenburg and Tobias Hoffmann present a Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 from 1993 more infos at: www.vintage-gui... The guitar shown was played through a Fender Vibroverb Reisuue and recorded with a Shure SM57 (right) and a Sennheiser 409 (left) . The backing tracks were recorded into a Line6 DL4 looper on the same instrument right before the recording of each video. We used the Vemuram Jan Ray Pedal and a Vemuram Shanks 4k for overdrive sounds. Tobias Hoffmann is a award winning guitar player from cologne, germany. He combines the sounds of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Surf and some experimental stuff. Check him out:

I just recently purchased a 96 custom 22 almost exactly like yours. It is probably the best playing guitar I have ever owned. In my 46 years of playing I have had a few axes. I have never picked up a PRS that didn’t play well. The consistency in quality is amazing. Even the SE series guitars are fantastic and are gig capable.

New PRS guitars sound really really awesome, but there is something about the old ones and their sound, the way 5 way rotary switch pickup configurations that the new ones dont have. New ones seem to sound cleaner noiseless and super balanced, old ones had that more natural organic sound to them. I love both, but boy that older sound puts a smile on my face.

If that's a '98 model, probably has the Dragon 2 pickups, which usually have the covers. I have a '97, last year for the Dragon 1s.
