  • You have to take guitars one at a time. Two examples of the same model will play and sound different. It's the nature of the beast. I found one that is special to me. This is the story behind my PRS Custom 22 guitar.

    Great story! I recently made an agreement with my wife that if I bought a new DGT (core series) that, "It will be the last guitar you buy!" Even wrote the statement down & framed it along with the hang tag, then posted it in my music room. Considering the guitar, and the way I've bonded with it-- I believe it was a good deal :D

      That might be a hard one to live up to. I wish you good luck. I've only purchased two guitars since the Custom 22, but those were "vintage investments".

      Does she have your nutz framed in her closet?? Jesus. My wife would never have an issue with me purchasing more guitars. I have like 20. Most of them Gibson and PRS. Unless she’s the bread winner. U screwed yourself on that deal.

    Its a beauty great presentation 😎🤘the custom 22 is still one of my favourites. My first guitar ever was a vintage yellow custom 22 and I always come back to that PRS somehow, regardless of other great guitars I own.

    I had the bug to buy one..studied a little.. went to guitar center... they had one American made used guitar.. a 98 24 with a whammy bar.. same deal there's 4 other guys playing things in the room.. but when I plugged this thing in it just sang.. everybody stopped.. heads turned.. playing an E .. took two minutes and I was buying it.. walked it up to the counter before one of the other guys bought it. A few payments later.. I love it.. bought two others since.. the good ones are great.. they have their own voice that helps create inspiration.

    Wow man! Got a great wife man! I understand that feeling. I feel the same way about my PRS McCarty, It was a stretch considering I had just bought a Martin acoustic but once I played the PRS I could not sleep knowing that guitar was sitting at the shop and someone could buy it at anytime. It wasn’t just a great guitar, it was THE Guitar. Feel very fortunate to be able to have it since growing up I really didn’t have much. Thanks for the video and the wonderful story. Got your self a subscriber 🤘🏼🎸

      Thanks! I can certainly relate. A friend of mine has a single cut McCarty that might be the best looking top I've ever seen. It's a great player, too.

    I'm going to view a 1995 Custom 22 with the stoptail bridge on it tomorrow morning. I played one back in 1998, and I have never forgotten the sound or the feel of it. It has literally been my dream guitar since then, and I am going to follow your advice. If it feels like the right guitar, I will buy it. It's taken a very long time to get the money together for it, so hopefully it will feel and sound as good as the one I played almost 25 years ago.
    Thank you for your wise words!

      Its sitting on a stand in the corner right now. And absolutely gorgeous instrument!!

      @@TheGiggingGuitarPlayer Well, 1 year later, I'm absolutely enamoured with the guitar still. It's the original spec model with Dragon 1 pickups, which I prefer over the Dragon II for the slightly more rawkous sound. There are some downsides. The neck joint on it is quite chunky (I think they changed it on later models) which makes getting to the top of the neck tricky, and..... that's it. That's my one gripe with it. Other than that, it is just gorgeous. I can't help but smile when I'm playing it. You were right. The second I played it, I knew it was the right guitar.

    I have a CE 24 that I bought sight-unplayed from a dealer in California. All I saw were the pictures. I have 12 other guitars that have largely gone unplayed since I got that PRS. I also had a custom 22 on lay away around 1999. My friends talked me out off it, and I got an amp instead. The amp is long gone but I still think about that Custom 22 to this very day. That guitar should always be production.

    Have you purchased any other PRS guitars since this one? What a great story. A strat and tele guy, I am looking at some se guitars. I have the hollowbody 2 Piezo but considering a 24-08. Have a great gig! BP

      I also have a PRS SE-One, which is a great guitar. I had a PRS Swamp Ash Special, which I traded for a Crook Telecaster. I will be looking hard at this SE DGT that is coming out. I loved those SE hollow bodies they had out with the sparkle finishes a while ago.

    Wonderful story , what ms the switching system ? Looks like a 3 way toggle and a push pull tone pot for 6 positions ? Anyway guitars pick us , we don’t pick guitars lol

    • @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer
      @TheGiggingGuitarPlayer  7 месяцев назад

      I took out the rotary knob thing and installed the PRS Drop In kit. That is a typical three way toggle and a push pull coil tap on each pickup. I didn't care for the rotary thing at all.

      @@TheGiggingGuitarPlayerI recently bought a 2006 PRS Custom 22 in violin Amber burst with the Artist package and all the sentiments you mentioned about the one you got were the things I noticed about the one I got. When my friend let me check it out and told me he would sell it to me for $1,800, I had started an aggressive campaign of selling some things and had it in my possession within a week.
