There is no true ideal in this department, no. But as an INFP as well, I have had several deeply fulfilling and enjoyable jobs and have simply identified the characteristics that made those jobs that way, then looked for those characteristics when job hunting, rather than specific types of jobs. I don't know if this is true for all INFPs, but I found that in order for me to truly enjoy my job (at least most of the time), it has to 1) give me a fair amount of freedom (no micro-managing or stifling my creativity) and 2) make a difference in someone's life, according to how I define that. As a result, I've enjoyed all kinds of work, so long as it met those two requirements. I've done housekeeping, horticulture, caregiving, dishwashing and other restaurant kitchen work and have enjoyed them all. Right now I'm doing freelance ghostwriting and proofreading and it's pretty ideal :)

How many of those are "successful" though/how many "successful" people are that is the issue. But if that is the way to be "successful" then I dont want to be. Normal is synonymous with mediocre, and I've given up investing effort to be mediocre. I think there are plenty more ways to spend our effort, and I have very limited effort to spend.
Besides, norm is culture specific. What's normal in one society is abnormal in another. I think my effort is better spent looking for society in which I'm normal.

Oh, and a warning. The INTJ door slam is considerably worse than that of the INTJ. If you ever did manage to get close enough for us to have full trust in the first place, you'd have had to have done something truly horrible and then some for us to shut you out.

This is pretty funny! Truthfully, the first time I researched it was mostly out of skepticism. I took the test like 6 times, because I didn't believe I was an INTJ. 4/6 times it was ENTJ, which I didn't particularly like either. It was more efficient to read about myself in this way than wait for self-awareness to develop... In the before times, I once told an employee who was going through a hard time that he was lucky to be at work, so he could ignore his feelings and do something productive for awhile. He cried, and I honestly didn't know why. True story.

Yeah job searching sucks. I'm terrible at selling my best qualities and end up only getting hired by shady people who either use my low self esteem to try harder to impress them, fire me early for not immediately knowing how to read their mind, or make excuses for not putting me on the schedule so I'll quit and they won't have to pay me unemployment. I stayed 5 years at a horrible dishwashing job because job searching just scared me more. After all that, I now work as a cashier in a corporate retail store. Ironically, this job is way less stressful than dishwashing gig.

As an INTJ I can say that was incredibly accurate because let me just say I’ve been training a skill the last few years known I like to call “not trying to care for someone who used me” it goes by multiple other names but that was the most recent.
This skill premise is basically cutting of any empathy towards certain people the millisecond it doesn’t benefit my emotions, or something else, unless of course it’s taking more then what it’s giving of course then this also applies.
