Loving these new vintage laptop videos. Being a vintage tech collector, I have a very similar model, a ThinkPad 380ED, only mine is from 96-97 and has a Pentium MMX in it. Runs MS-DOS 6.22 and Win95 like a charm and fortunately doesn’t have one of those horrendous passive-matrix displays, but an early color liquid crystal display.

Dude, that cleanup of gemrs and stuff made me rethink my used-computers-buyer life entirely. You should make a video advising and explaining what and how to use all that stuff.
My first laptop, which wasn't new at the time, but not SUPER old either... was an IBM Thinkpad 360PE, with pen input flip around screen. Similarly the kbd came up to allow access to the innards, drives, battery, etc. It shipped with win 3.1, but I managed a 95c install... Used that puppy with Aol Instant Messenger, web browsing, downloading games and demos online from Game Revolution and FTP servers. Loved it... of course didn't think it would ever be worth anything as time was moving ahead, and it too was a 486, a DX2 if I recall... Just barely allowed for Win95. So I left it behind somewhere, not concerned.... just literally leaving it in an old house, or storage, or a box somewhere. just gone. And it had everything, the IBM external FDD, internal, battery, spare, dock, pen... and worked perfect. Today on eBay seeing this sort of complete set with such a rare and nearly un findable model, well.... its sad... say that much.
A good video once again on these old laptops you've been doing, and turns out i also saw the listing for this very one sometime ago, knew i had from the title of the listing it have "laptop 18" within it, and have bought a few laptops from that seller as well for a cheap price, a couple of nec versas, a 4080H & a 2780MT, also a compaq armada 1590dt too. Didn't think i'd end up seeing one of them from that seller in a youtube video, but there you & here it is, and nice to see you got this thinkpad working again.
Did you have much luck with those laptops? I was tempted to buy more but the postage price was quite a bit to me. Thankfully they listed that IBM I bought as a 380Cs, which doesn't exist. It's actually a 360Cs, which is why no one really bid on it I'd say
Have yet to receive them, so when they end up arriving, then i'll know for sure. And the postage of where they came from was a bit, but as they were a cheaper price for the laptops themselves, kind of worked out that way too. And had noticed that slight error in the listing too, also what i had thought as to why no-one else went for it. Those compaqs such as the ones i got go for a bit more money nowdays, so if this one is all good & working, would have been a decent deal for what i got it for.
Some of the items went for a lot which was really surprising. There was an Apple powerbook 1400cs without a power adapter and it didnt work and it went for over $100! But yeah, there were other items that interested me but the postage price was the reason I didnt buy
I got the 3 laptops on monday, gave them a good clean like you have with this & the others, always is a good idea to give used laptops a clean like that too, and have set them up since then. the versa 4080H has MS-DOS 6.22 & WfW 3.11 on it now, and the armada 1590DT with windows 95 B as i have a few windows 98 laptops already, and is a good 95 machine too. And with those apple laptops, i saw they went for some higher prices, they tend to bring in higher prices because we know how many apple products go for higher prices, even older ones that might not even work like that 1400cs.

I for get the exact reason why older laptops do not have suitable screen for dos gaming if there are two sliders. The laptops with a single slider for brightness have a much newer screen design since often laptops from back then were a generation behind.
Typically if they have two controls (brightness and contrast) it'll be a passive matrix display, which oft have ghosting and slow refresh. If it just has a brightness control then it's likely a nicer active matrix display.
