You’ll probably find a lot of Pentium 1 and 2 laptops that were barley used a year before being replaced. Intel had competition back then, and were actually making their successive generations appreciably faster, so if you had last year’s model, there were things you could just literally not do. In today’s landscape, you have to have a CPU from like ten years ago or more before you encounter things that won’t work at all.

@@psivewri You're usually testing the gaming capabilities of those vintage laptops, but if you buy an older desktop PC in the future for any reason (P3-P4 category), you can compare older VGA-s for example, to figure out what OS is optimal for those and which games can it handle :) . I don't expect a Geforce 2 can run Crysis of course, but it would be interesting to see the difference between older cards, like a Geforce 2 MX and a Geforce FX5600 for example, with the original Counter-Strike, Far Cry, Quake, Colin McRae rally and other great titles :) . I still remember that big graphics jump between my Geforce 4 MX and FX 5200 in Far Cry, because of the newer Direct X support.

This is because the Compaq Armada always gave me one step more of a hassle. I had to install the screensavers from the original floppy disks, since they were nowhere to be found on the Compaq Armada. On the IBM Thinkpad though, they were always already on there. No hassle.
