Unfortunately he does have fault regardless of the redneck that can't afford the upkeep of his car sadly. I was in a similar red light encounter 3 years ago but dash-cam saved me from being at fault (driver ran the red and was speeding on the first day of rain, but because he was a middle aged adult and I was 20 they tried siding with him until I got the footage). Main thing ICBC looks at is where the cars are when the light finally goes red. The bloke's timing couldn't have been better since all 4 wheels we're past the stop line and unfortunately anonymous already has turned his wheel blocking his lane
Driver entered the intersection (legally unfortunately) on extremely late yellow. Anonymous crossed his path. Anon at fault. Never take your left on yellow (or red in this case) until traffic stops. Drivers in the lower mainland (Not just North Van) are extremely incompetent and you can never assume anybody is going to yield right of way or come to a stop. I've nearly T-boned dozens of people blowing through stops. Drive defensively and assume everybody is trying to kill you.
Forget the flashing light; Rebuild the exit, rebuild the overpass, rebuild the entire stretch of Brunette between Braid and Lougheed at this point... Blue Mountain too.

Yup, just bulldoze that entire area and start over. Blows my mind they didn't fix that during the freeway upgrades years ago.
First video with the Jeep rolling back. I know a few people who've had Wranglers over the last 10 years or so (all had manual transmissions) and the parking brake literally would not hold. They've taken them to the dealerships only to get the usual run around and having done some reading up on the subject, it seems to be a fairly common issue with some models. Not saying that thats what happened in the video, but it wouldn't surprise me.

edit: also a joke of a licensing system with a tank of gas being more expensive than the license itself and a system with hilariously low fines and the ability to dispute a ticket.

Tough call at 1:28. I know that intersection: Main & Brooksbank.
The car turning left is turning late, and has a responsibility to turn only if safe (not assume). But the car going straight should be stopping too - the light was already red when the straight car entered the intersection.
Probably should be 50/50, guy ran the yellow/red and guy turned when not safe.
Fully agreed. We should not be giving free passes to cars that are not stopping on red lights. This accident wouldn't have happened if they had stopped. And if they were not speeding, they should've been able to stop.
I slowed the video down and I kid you not, the front axle was over the line before the light turned red so TECHNICALLY the person entered the intersection before it was red. And since he was going straight and the camera car turned left, camera car had to yield and was ruled at fault.
Regardless of that, neither should've entered the intersection at that point.
@@flatmotion1 Bro, the person turning left can still complete their turn even on a red if they're in the intersection. The car going straight SHOULD NOT have. The issue with the car turning left is that he committed too soon without knowing the other car would stop.
@EternalSilence4ever It's not first come first served. Turning left ALWAYS has to yield. As previously stated the car going straight entered on yellow but late and the car turning left committed to early to turning. ICBC ruled according to the book and gave the left turning car fault. Was it right? No, the car going straight shouldn't even have entered the intersection that late, but they did. So the filming car got fault.

@1:45 Yeah, high probability that Anonymous is at fault here. ICBC could state that the driver should've been more cautious knowing that it's raining (therefore, lower visibility) + the onus lies on those who are turning to be extra cautious than those who are going straight. Plus, more and more people are undermining a Yellow light (regardless of whether you're turning or not). Yellow light DOES NOT mean that you can proceed...it means, if you can stop, then stop; otherwise PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION if you're past the stop lines. Which was clearly not the case in Anonymous' situation.
Looking at all the close shaves, and with all the automation that's available, I am eager to see a system where spike strips come up from underneath when a light turns red at the correct intersection so that there are no idiots risking their own & playing with other peoples' lives when they are too unaware of their wrongdoing.
Thar California Jeep should legit be banned from Canada for pulling that reckless driving stunt.

Tough call. Legslly speaking, the cammer is also at fault because he turning. And straight always gets the ROW, despite runnig a long running red amd having ample time to stop. At least, i know this has always been used to argue this case. Personally though, i'd say its the straight driver. Cammer was in yhe intersection and had to clear it. White car had at least 2seconds top fully stop, but didnt and didnt looks like he intended to either. Though, i'm pretty sure cammer could have made it without gettinginto a collision if he hadn't hesitated.

1:30 person turning left is at fault I think but I could see both being at fault as well... when you're making a left turn you still have to make sure it's safe and clear before making your turn... the other driver got into the intersection as the light was turning red (pretty late) but i've seen some drivers use wet road conditions as an argument for not stopping.. I think had it been more clear cut where the other driver was running a "solid" red light then maybe Anonymous would have a good/better case.

@@karanbantawa6236 The thing with left turns, don't commit to any turn until you KNOW FOR A FACT that all cars are stopped. You can even turn left on a red light if you have to. Just wait until all the assholes stop.

White car had plenty of time to stop. Cars have brake pedals for a reason.
Stanley had to wait for the pedestrian. Yes he had the green arrow, but the pedestrian with the white man had priority.
That seems like a setup for the driver though. The pedestrian is coming from a direction that contradicts the left arrow.
0:29 "Dur dur dur look at me, I'm an F-ING important JEEP driver! Look out everyone, importance coming through! I'm the president of important!" That's an automatic "has to take a road test to get their license back" situation if I'm in charge.
1:04 Whoever is the car in the back needs 10 years of "I need to think about my decisions when driving a vehicle" level suspension because of the lack of tail lights. The driver in the front? Same. But because I fvcking said so. Because FK people who think the roads are their little playground. Imagine even THINKING that and finding out, "Oh by the way, if you decide to play that game, you'll be a decade older when you can legally drive again." That would change my mind.

Dash cam had the right of way in the "social respect" aspect that when I am driving, and I see oncoming vehicles trying to turn left as the light changes, yeah, I make damn sure they get their way. Dash cam driver probably should have waited it out in their left turn lane, but having said that, they HAD TIME turn but oncoming traffic said, "Yeah nah." The worst part about it is the white car just kept coming, and for THAT ONE REASON, they should have been held 100% at fault and should have even been given an eye test. How did they not see that car there?

6:05 I used to work up north in Alberta. I'm based out of Red Deer but head office for Canada was Calgary. EVERY F-ING TECH had to take the Smith Driving course (I believe the RCMP take it too, though that's what I was told). We learn a lot of things in that simple course, including trip management. Be in the lane you need to be in at least a couple blocks before your turn. Also, know your route.

For the old one from ICBC. It would be a 50/50 deal. 50 for the strieghtthrugh driver and 50 for the left turner, no matter what you always have to yield the stieghthrough driver. However, the non-left turner driver should not have tried to be the light in that water, the same goes for the left turner. They both entered on the yellow. ICBC states that when you enter the intersection on a yellow you are technically going through a red light. The yellow light is a stop unless it is unsafe to do so. its not a long green light. As always in that kind of weather you should always slow down, and be safe.

at 1:42, i believe its the driver's problem, in my opinion (not the one with the dash cam but the one in the white car) because the light was already yellow and the white car just suddenly keeps going even if the light just turns red into the car that was about to turn left.

hmm 01:30 Video submitter for sure at fault. Open shut case. Why did he stop partially in an oncoming lane?? He is well over the line if you project it from the start where you can see it. The guy who hit him perhaps assumed he had enough room which he would have if there wasn't someone stopped where they shouldn't be... and then got too close and realized the gap was too tight because the truck was in his lane. Maybe negligent driving but wasn't breaking the rules as much as sitting in the oncoming lane. That's the worst thing you can do. Hitting something that shouldn't be there isn't.
I think the fact he took that yellow late and he easily could have stopped, also makes this clearly not something an insurance company would ever cover. Not even close. If speeds were faster as you approached the yellow than maybe. You only cross yellows when its safer than slamming on the breaks. If you can stop safely you have to. This truck was going super slow and could have stopped just fine.
I feel for Anonymous, same exact thing happen to me my very first crash, my light was yellow the car was hella far away, as I was making the left that car 100% sped up making the light and ended up hitting. ICBC made me at fault because of my left turn, yea what ever it is what it is but I swear someone will always speed up, should of been 50/50. Lesson learned though, honk at me all you want I'm turning left when that light is red
That's a really bad experience. I'm coping with the same right now. Had same type of crash 4 days ago on taking my left turn. I've provided a dashcam footage because other driver slowed down and then sped up. Did you provide evidence too?

1:28 I wanna say the "Last clear chance doctrine" should be considered. Anon stopped when they saw the other driver enter the intersection but that driver made no attempt to avoid Anon despite having plenty of time to do so.
That's what I was thinking too....because Anon had stopped I feel like it should have gone the other way because it was not as if the other drive was traveling too fast to stop. Thanks for watching

At 4:14, both locations, above the lane and on the sidewalk corner post, green arrows for the left turn. At the same time, we can see this at 4:18, the pedestrian is seeing the white walking figure meaning to walk across the street. Someone in the road signals department needs to rethink this. If I, as a pedestrian, see that white light, I should be able to cross the street safely without having to worry about any cars or trucks having the GREEN LIGHT to go through the crosswalk I am using. Yes, I understand, watch for red light runners. But I should not have to dodge green light runners while crossing when the signal says to cross. I don't know about BC, but in Washington, the yellow arrow means to cross but only if the way is clear, otherwise yield to both oncoming traffic and to pedestrians using the crosswalk. Green arrow means both oncoming traffic and pedestrians at the crosswalk are seeing red lights. In this Canadian situation here filmed by Stanley, both he and the pedestrian have every right to be angry -- at the road signals department.

How is the driver making the left turn at fault - he entered on a stale yellow, and was at a full stop realising the traffic was mangled. The white car hit him.

@@yuiyuiyyuiy3200 he stopped before turning because he saw what what happening. How can that be his fault? The other car hit him - he wasn't moving. The other car basically blew a red and hit a stopped vehicle. That's a hell of a jump to "he's the one at fault".
Even if it was red and he ran it while you are turning left, it's your fault because it was not clear for you to turn.

1:30 The cammer was making a left turn and is therefore required to give right of way to cars travelling straight through the intersection. The white car had the right of way even though they entered the intersection just before the light turned red. I would put the blame on the cammer because they started to turn when it was unsafe to do so.
What did they throw at the car?
BC has no fault insurance now so,you can do anything and its 50/50...Cant sue,no cash you have injuries too bad for you $1000 is all you get chump!

White car learnt his or her lesson, don't blow pass a three second stale yellow and you won't be in an accident, even if ICBC didn't find you at fault.
Note on 4:10 the man that is walking on the sidewalk in downtown Vancouver was at fault because 1, he was on his phone while walking and didn’t pay attention to the road when he is walking, 2, he is walking on a red hand because his brain is broken because he didn’t have the white man which means walking. And 3, the man showed him that he thought he had the white man walking which he didn’t and made a huge fuss about it to him. The man is at 100% fault from this and should go back to Crosswalking school and learn how to walk safety in a crosswalk.
White car entered the intersection on a red... anonymous was already in the intersection and had the right to clear when the light turned red... its the white cars fault. You can further add the white car had time to prevent the collition and it was their duty to do so as anonymous was at a full stop already.

I feel like that rule should change given that if there's dashcam footage that the other drive ran the red light. I feel like that was a rule back in the day because ICBC could never prove what happened but now with video footage it changes things.

@ludicrousmodel3173 unfortunately I only use about 10% of the videos submitted so many clips don't make the cut for various reasons. If I like the clip and it fits the video it takes about a month or so.

Note on 1:30 the white car was at fault of the crash because the white car was speeding a little bit fast, and ran the red light and crashed into anonymous. Also, Anonymous had the right of way because he was turning left and the light started to change, when it changed from yellow to red you have to finish your turn. So, the white car is at 100% fault from that crash.
