The parasocial stuff some people had going on with Midori was so strange. To me it's like "yeah that's weird, but the leaks seemed on point", some people are acting as if the entire world has caved in. The entire situation is just...odd.

His entire value to people who know him for leaks, is the accuracy of his leaks. If he gets leaks correct thats great, if they end up being false, then clearly hes not reliable and people just need to look else where for accurate leak info. Theres zero value in knowing if hes a man or woman irl.

Tbh it's a smart move to hide from companies, also, there is a pretty big percentage of the internet using these types of lies for evil, Midori wasn't created for evil, but for concealment.
Just having a persona online isn't weird - but the way they interacted with people under that persona was majorly bizarre. Especially the way he tried to finagle information out of people, etc.
Like, I'm just a rando who comments on youtube occassionally. If I presented myself as a japanese woman while doing that it wouldn't matter at all - The kind of stuff I like to talk about has nothing to do with my life expereince (which is far removed from that of a japanese woman, if you couldn't tell) so nothing of what I did would be inauthentic - it would just be a layer of anonymity. This stuff with Midori... isn't that.
MysticDistance was a pretty infamous figure in the Persona community years ago so I’m surprised he decided to rear his ugly head as some weird catfish “leaker”. Also sort of surreal to see other communities now making videos on this guy lol

Despite his past life, most of the leaks as ”Midori” have been mostly legit. But then again, he did claim multiple people have used the account.
I don't really care about the fake "persona". (no pun intended) cause this person was a leaker and the whole identity has to be private which goes well with the whole "super secret im illuminati bs arc".
That said, I care more about whether the leaks are true or not. As for the allegations, we don't have proof and I hope they ain't true.
The funny part of all of this is how everyone fell for the insider thing though. Everyone literally thought Midori was one of the best insiders in Japan pretty much. And the coming out kinda ruins the whole thing. It was like a good show, but now it feels like GoT Season 8.
If you cared about the leaks' credibility, the fact that they formed such an elaborate lie about who they said they was isn't something to be ignored. Like Jared said in the vid, this weirdo didn't need to gender the persona and actively engage in comments with their "fans". He should have just stayed anonymous.
Now that he royally fucked up, and his entire past is revealed to the internet, it shatters all credibility on the leaks he shared. So no, you have to care about the fake persona.

It’s basically just a pseudonym or character being played at that point. And layers up the anonymity to boot by having people not know where to look demographics wise. Staying ANONYMOUS was the way to go, but he decided to keep interacting with people and keeping the "kawaii desu anime girl" act up which is what screwed his dumbass over. I am NOT saying don't use a fake persona. What I am saying is don't go to such stupid lengths to create an elaborate lie when staying quiet about who you could be at all would have been beneficial in the end.
Fake persona or not, it’s still hilarious to me how hard he tried to push his persona as a Japanese girl every chance he got, even when it was uncalled for. If you look at his Tweets, sometimes he mentions that he’s a girl when nobody was talking about anything remotely related to his gender. The persona went beyond its functional purpose to gaslight his true identity into something used to actually catfish and fulfill his fantasies.
Placing my bets that they've already set up a new account and are planning out their next online persona.

Thank you!!!! It kinda annoys me when fans set expectations and hype it up as if they are facts. Then when it is revealed that the either no new info won't come out or that the leaks are not real, they will complain and place blame on others or on KH. It honestly feels a little toxic. It really sets the tone when game expos say ahead of time that there are no new KH news to avoid fan backlash and fans still get upset.

honestly, regardless of their previous life, their leaks about Sonic were VERY spot on about everything in the past 2 years. literally everything the "Midori" character said about Sega ended up being true one way or another, even about P3R... so maybe in some point the person behind the profile DID get new reliable insider info/contact on the Sega side of things and thought a clean slate was the only way to actually become believable?? who knows.
that's exactly why there isn't a way to know anything about the KH4 yet. there's a bad track record before the Midori identity but an excellent track record AS that same identity. all I care is if the information is reliable or not, when we finally find out news about KH4.

Pretending to be another ethnicity with bad grammar, a bit crass, but all the japanese "OH MAI GOTT!" and "DO YOU WANT HAMBARGER?!" stuff is funny to me, I don't think it's a problem.
The bigger issue is being a leaker with a bad reputation and turning into another leaker with a "fresh" reputation is a bit skeezy. Earn a clear reputation the hard way.
Though, another lesson is; don't put too much credibility in invalidated leaks, assume that anything you see averages 50% accurate, and you'll usually never be upset.

The only thing I found strange about the Midori situation is that so many people took everything a leaker said at face value. Come on people, these are individuals online that thrive off of attention of any kind. Do you seriously put it past someone like that to pull some shit like this?? This is why you don't glorify people who do this kind of thing online it's what they want. I'm not saying don't talk about their info if you want to farm content as a content creator.
I want to make that very clear, if making content online is your livelihood. You do you bro get your bag, that is A okay with me. It's always interesting to hear what leakers say offhandedly sure but nobody should ever celebrate that a leaker exists, that's just crazy. Another thing, I've been on the internet long enough to know that like 80% of anime profile pic accounts are male, even the ones that have a female character, ESPECIALLY those. I'm genuinely more surprised by the revelation that people were actually surprised Midori was actually a dude all along. I just straight up assumed he was from the start. Because that's usually the case with leakers, the vast majority of them are dudes. Lastly though I just want to say it was extremely funny hearing that they were one of the villian masterminds behind the grinch leak. Trully the internet is indeed a place that exists.

I just started learning Japanese. Of the characters that make up "Midori's" name mi and do are in hiragana (the alphabet for native Japanese words) and ri in katakana (the one for foreign words), so thought it was weird for them to be mixed in a Japanese name. This kinda explains it. Maybe. I'm not fluent yet.
it can be common to use strickly katakana if their family has moved to America or something but yeah that should have been a red flag. never ever would they spell it out in hiragana.
The "ri" is also hiragana. It's similar to the katakana "ri" but it's not the same.
You know, this kind of brings to light that this could have been if one native speaking Japanese person was active in the Midori group and tried to speak to him in Japanese. Even typing, since Google translate isn't perfect.
@aizeroth8858 Like I said, I just started learning, so feel free to correct me. But the third character looks like either the katakana for ri or the hiragana for i. So either he mixed them or accidentally spelled Midoi.
Also, I'm talking about the name on his tweets specifically. His profile picture does the correct ri hiragana on it.

@@Roariken1 What do you mean the name of his tweets? His profile name and his name in the tweets are the same. They are both hiragana ri. You can google hiragana and katakana ri and see there is a slight difference. Not sure if I misunderstood what you said.

I don't really know how to feel. I strive to be honest myself, but for someone to outright expose the real identity of this well-known leaker is very wrong, especially since it came out of nowhere. As a side note Midori is the japanese word for "green" and is unisex, whereas the character could've been for their well-known leaker status in the Persona community. We all make our own persona's here on the internet and we try to respect each other, not asking about our private info being a major factor in it. I feel bad for Midori, even though I don't follow leakers that often. All we can do now is hope for the best and remain patient.

Yeah, when I heard they were really a guy, I wondered why that was such a big deal, but hearing about how they got their leaks and some of the things they did(Alegedly) helps put peoples anger into context.

It's been a rollercoaster, when it's come to alleged KH4 leaks lately. Back in late April, DanielRPK, a reputable leaker mostly known for his MCU leaks, claimed that KH4 was slated for a 2025 release. Then Midori just the other week claims a 2026 release for KH4 instead. A lot of people took Midori's claim at face value, but knowing what we know now, we don't know if Midori's claim is reliable anymore. Here's hoping Square gives us some sort of official update on KH4 by the end of the year, because it is getting annoying hearing just rumors.
My brother in Christ, let all this go. If we read the tea leaves we are not getting the game for a WHILE. That company shake up has seen to that. I suggest occupying your time with other things

Dude I'm in my 30's and this has been legit one of the strangest things I've ever seen on the internet.
Man, I was really hoping for KH4 to release in at least mid-2025 to around late-2025/early-2026. I guess we’ll just have to wait until SE ultimately releases Missing-Link because some story elements in that game will connect to KH4. I think by Tokyo Game Show this September, SE should update fans on KH4; D23 may not be for KH4 because I think KHML might not be released yet, so a 50/50 on KHML and KH4 in that event.
I hope we get news on KHML sometime later, especially now that the franchise is available on Steam, so probably less weight on the KH team moving forward.
These are all my predictions to set my expectations a little more optimal so that I would not get my hopes up.
To be honest I never belived in Midori leaks, they always sounded way too obvious to me, like Persona 6 color is green just sounds like a joke, it was a meme in that community for years,it's nothing new

At the end of the day our entire society is based around lying and pretending to be who you're not so that other people will like you, anyways, so honestly none of this means anything to me. All I care about is whether or not the information he was giving was true, and fortunately for him, his track record was still on point. I think something to keep in mind is that the internet’s anonymity helps shield people from taking accountability for behaviour that would normally be seen as inappropriate.
Once you’re given a platform/in a position where you influence others, I think you should be held accountable for stuff like posing as a different race to gain prestige

O guys, but let's try to understand their side... if you are a person that leaks information that should NOT be leaked and no one irl can find out you doing it, creating a fake account that is as distant of you as it can be, seems to be the smart move... and maybe Ryan have a boyfriend (as stated in some tweets). The broken English is distasteful 🤣 but maybe he was just trying to hide his true identity?
This is such a weird defense because some of the most prominent leakers on the internet don’t have to be this extra. He didn’t need a persona. He didn’t need to do anything except just post leaks. Doing all this is what gets you exposed which is what happened. Most leakers don’t interact that much in the replies for good reason, but this guy did which should tell you one thing. All of this was for clout and attention.

Shoutouts to Screenments for trying to approach this in a normal fashion, but having someone completely leak his document and make it blow up harder than it should have (although this is the internet and especially twitter so who knows). That aside, the catfishing is very weird, but to be fair a lot of the leaks turned out to be accurate. However, how he ended up getting that information is also a bit weird, but on the other hand there are a lot of fake allegations going around so its hard to know what's true. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of how he handled his online Persona. However I haven't seen any definitive evidence outside of that expose (which isn't definitive evidence in the first place) the confirm or deny that the leaks were fake. I genuinely didnt care. let people be who they want to be. time will tell if they are right. for we know the exposer could just have a grudge against this person and could be wrong but they could be right but there are odd things about the reveal like if this person knew nothing then the times they were right were lucky guesses? it just seems odd because many times this person was right. the hours posting isnt even important or relevant because there are japanese people that dont work traditional hours or do work odd hours and their time off is on odd hours and this happens even in america.
who they are isnt a big deal but accusing the person of faking leaks is a big deal. if you are going to accuse them of faking leaks you have to bring receipts of them faking leaks. everyone has a persona they leave in the past because its not them anymore or its not who they want to be.

Hmm honestly even the investor thing doesn't need to be 2026 for sure. It could be interpreted as not having more beyond 2025 which I feel is more accurate given original plans. It's likely that it's KH4, FF9 Remake and then nothing due to Dragon Quest struggling and nothing else in the pipe.
